Everyone--I will start posting some pictures tomorrow. Please follow them in the other Forum....Here---------HYPERLINK@davesgarden.com
Just wrote a really long overview of the City and it's people there. Trying to force myself to stay up a bit later so I am not up by 6AM. Need to get back to my normal pattern soon....
I do not work until next week. I knew i would need this extra time to adjust.
Good night all! Gita
Good night to all!!
Betty, Gita...sleep well.
MY it's quiet! Can't say i blame anyone, wow
a glorious day!
So enjoy every minute of the outdoors.
Oh Bev, I didn't even see the marigolds!!
Heyyyy! Betty, where are you?
Hi All - I met the puppies this afternoon and all I can say is I'm in love - with ALL of them!! I sat in the whelping box with all 6 females and they just climbed on me and kissed me and nibbled on everything! I left there smelling like a big fat puppy!
We won't know which one we're getting until close to 8 weeks - after the breeder temperment test them all. But I'm ok with any of them! The breeder did let me know that the "theme" will either be "Grease" or "Dirty Dancing" so I need to think of some neat plays on words to make up her "formal" name. I still think we're going to go with Bella. I like Rizzo or Frenchie!
Anyway, here are some of the pictures from today!
Hey, All!
IF you are interested........???.....I posted the first batch of pictures from my trip this morning.
There will probably be 2 more postings...
Just thought I would let you know.
Hi...Been super busy this day...
Gita, loving your photos.
GG, ohhh, now they are just too cute.
Well Yoohooo Betty.
What adventures have you had today!
oh where are you.
It is still a glorious day, Enjoy it everyone.
Got my fire going...anyone up for a marshmello?? Yummy.
Betty? Marshmellow?
Judy, you got a fire going in July? What, the grill? Surely not the fireplace. Huh? inquiring minds want to know what kind of weather you got up there in IL. LOL
I've enjoyed looking at the buildings in Gita's thread. I love Old World artcutech (I can't spell)buildings.
Yep, I sure do. It's one of those contained pits.
(they have to be contained or no go...lol beleive me.)
I love to have fire in the evening. Tonight I'm home alone soooo will enjoy moving about with a nice scent in the air.
LOL and little bit of light.
Woohoo, cleaned the whole area too just so I can have a fire to watch.
I hear you on the Architecture(im I spelled it wrong too) It is a very beautiful country!
Im waiting for the Festival photos!
Night time, painted 10hrs. and just this minute finished the wine glasses..my cousin Barbie will pick them up on her way home from work tomorrow...glad they are now behind me...
Baby shower Sunday so think I'll go shopping tomorrow to pick up materials I need to make the diaper cake..am doing the most gorgeous table and chair for child, however, it would be wasted if I do a 'girl' theme if it's a boy, so will include photo's in a card, bring a chair perhaps because the back is cut out already to look like a bunny having a tea party...
Gita, looking forward to visiting the sight tomorrow morning..
Jeannine, I want one of those puppies-adorable...
Judy, enjoy the fire...
Hi everyone...
Anyway, I'm bent over, back is killing me...shouldn't have worked so many hours...about 100 since Thurs. so I'm going to say
Night/night
I just received an invitation to my cousin's baby shower. I wonder if I have enough sense to put a cake together? If I can't then all the goodies could go into a bag or basket I suppose.
Judy, an outside fire pit, of course! I saw a patio table and chairs set with a fire pit in the middle of the table. It was cute. I think I'd like one of those mexican chimmneys or an iron one for sure. I bet it does smell good, and, Oh the ambiance of a fire just soothes the soul.
You sure could make on..Judy kindly posted instructions for hers and I had just previously 'googled' diaper cakes and they've many online also with photo's and instructions...a few things more here to organize then the decision, drive to Barrie - 45 minutes but have more store options OR Midland 8 minutes away and make do...
I would have said Barrie as there might have been some garage sales, but it rained all last night and has a light mist in the air this morning...
So off I go to make myself pretty - perms sure do help..look at all those boxes of glasses ready to be picked up and that sure makes me feel good...
No housework of yard duties that need my attention so unless I find something it could be a weekend of relaxation..here's hoping!
Do enjoy your day...
Please do try to make the baby cake Deborah! You can do it, Judy's instructions are clear enough!
You must be relieved having finished all those glasses, Betty. What a woman!
Ooopss....where's my manners! Sorry...
Good morning dear ladies!
Been following your postings..love the flowers Bev..will look into Gita's pics...what nice family you have Gillibean and my, my, my...I want to hug those puppies too.
Nothing eventful happening in Jayeville. Had a couple severe thunderstorms that didn't do any property damage, especially to the plants. Finished my 'swap' obligations..and of course, no commonsense here, joined another one immediately.
Yeah, I caught you laughing Liz!!
Betty, we need your Solomon's skills on the Raisin' My Baby thread. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/880848/
Y'all have a lovely weekend!

jeannine awwwww their just wonderful!
hey jaye, yes i did almost joined one but im simply behaving!!
now lets see how much junk i bring home from the sale lol
Good Morning.
Oh yes, Cordeldawg...(pardon me here, but are you deborah?)
LOL, trying to get figure out names...takes me a bit before they sink in.
Anyway yep Just love to have a fire in the eves. Just to continue being out doors in the summer.
to keep warmin the winter. I surely agree with soothing to the soul, sometimes insiration kicks into my writing
a story or journal entry. But last night for me was just to keep me company. Was very nice.
Ihave seen the table top ones and although I think they are very nice they really arn't practicle for the money.
LOL, I love the rip roaring semi bon fires. Last night tho, I was really tired and had just a tiny one. Was a very good girl and went to bed right after Betty posted. hahah, for friday night thats way early for this mischif maker.
Yes Ladies...I am surley excited you are creating diaper cakes!! Be sure to post pics of your creations! Very easy to do one the cake forms are done. LOL, will be making another in a couple months myself.
Well, Betty...wow That is some serious painting. I figure you were busy with that. Kind of surprised tho you didn't check in and say hello. But we, understand, turn on computer and woosh...time zips by lickity split. You know, I know you like to be busy even while your resting...LOL might have to come back to do that, rest I mean. But I was just wondering the other day if you ever paint outside, you know while you rest? I hope you enjoy the showers. Your little table and chair sounds wonderful sure to be talk of the shower...
Liz, Girl...you are behaving!! LOL whats up with that?? Hey...I can't get that little container of glue open!! Whats the trick?
Played a little hookie yesterday, Was busy the enire day with straitening and laundry...and the sock brigade, it was just time, LOL kids were stealing our socks....shhhh, big secret, I taken to hiding them, mine and Steves!! Hahaha so funny too Ive got a plan on the kids they will have to trade sock for school year. might work and i can keep better control on this crazy sock situation. OR ROFL...throw them all away and start fresh.
OK Jay and Liz....I am not going to do many more swap....As Jaye can attest i am a terrible swapper. But, I finally got the container sanded and base coated!!! Now to remember watching Betty paint. Hmmmm, thinking cap on here.
Which for everyone, Watching Betty paint on that Friday evening was incredible!! Was the first time we girls were quiet. Both Liz and I were so capitivated at watching Betty literally bring my birdhouse painting to life!! Every now and again we just looked at each other with wide eyes and huge smiles at the difference. Betty, noticed too, made acomment on it being so quiet in here, LOL...were were in AWED silence. Both were facinated at how calm her strokes were so at ease...Now, see i wish i would have saved the plate...hands on the hips cuz Betty made me toss it away. Anyway I watched her every move, from mixing the paint to drying excess paint from her brush with her fingertips...So will give it my best shot to paint my scene on your lil container. Truth of matter is I'm scared silly to start...And Betty, LOL, went and bought some nice angle brushes and 20 dollars worth of "good" paint....What did I learn, ya got to have the right stuff! I already notice the very Big difference. Also, Betty showed us the art of shading and highlighting...this will help me to bring my very kindergarden painting.. to, well, first grade.
Vicky, Are you doing better? Weather here has been wonderful, in the upper 70's! So I imagine it's similar there.
Well...Saga goes on, Liz's racoon got into my shed again...Bird seed all over the place for a second time...thistle this time, what a bummer to clean up...LOL had an angry lil chipmuck trying to hide and escape all at one time. Tiny lil creature scare me into a jump as he scampered out just as i went to put the thistle into a new bag...and Well let me just tell you I was finding it in my hair last night!! Duh will teach me again to keep the darned door closed!
Well Waving Hello to all...got to make some tracks, another busy day for me!
Plus a little fun at a garden party this afternoon...UHhhh will be going by cracker barrell (eyebrows raing and lowering here)
So you all have a grand day,
Enjoy the sunshines kiss and dance to the gentle breezes.
See you later!
edited to say...Judge, you better come quick, mayham over in Baby Swap...quick their gaining up on Jaye...she tried really she did.

Alright, maybe I am where I am supposed to be now. Somehow missed you all for most of the week. Had a busy week evidently, though on the calender it didn't look any busier than other weeks. Well, maybe because cleaning lady came twice this week might have thrown me off track. The second day that she came we organized and cleaned off the screen porch which had begun to look really, really bad. We also straightened and swept clean the greenhouse.
Nothing spectacular happening in this neck of the woods. Next weekend is a biggie for our family though. My niece will be coming in from New Jersey to celebrate her birthday, her sister's birthday, her dad's and her husband's. Lots of August babies. Imagine how long my list of get gifts for is? You add in that there will be three really young children there that I want to shop for, plus four birthdays and hostess gift to my husbands wife who is hosting a cookout and that is a lot gifts. Most gifts I already have here, but it will take me a good part of a day or more to wrap everything. Then, fixing a macaroni salad for the meal too.
Thankfully, this weekend is one of rest for me. I watered about half of the gardens this morning and potted up 6 house plants and then sat down here with my cup of hot green tea. Yesterday afternoon about this time I started craving sweets and ended up preparing a chocolate and chinese noodles cookie and a large bowl of Ambrosia.
I have really been spoiled this summer with John grilling our dinners a few days a week. I buy in large quantities and he usually cooks enough for two or three days. Last night was pork chops. I had made potato salad earlier in the week and we had that as a side dish. Uh oh, I am making myself hungry. ha-ha
It has now been two weeks since I have seen my darling little Emily. She and her mom were involved in preparation of a wedding that is taking place today so it didn't suit for me to visit. I will be there on Monday right after my massage though.
I skipped several days of reading this week and then was lost when I did try to read and post. So, I don't have much to comment on the occurances in anyone's lives at the moment. Did want to welcome Gita back home though and I see that Gilli is home now too, so welcome back Gilli.
I will warn everyone that since I missed reading so much, I may have to ask some questions if the topic turns to something that I missed. I hate that I missed so much, because I rely on you folks to add some spice to my day. Man, would it be boring living on this hilltop if I couldn't sit in this chair and reach out to friends the world over.
The most exciting thing going on here is that John is going hot and heavy on finally working on the walkway that has been on the burner for a couple of years. He is making good progress even though it is very slow going. I started a thread on Mid Atlantic Gardeners forum with pictures. Sorry that I don't know how to do a link. Under the Mid Atlantic Gardeners the thread refers to turning a corner on my walkway if anyone is interested in seeing the rock work that he is doing. He is currently working on the wall that will edge the soapstone walkway. I am really getting excited about it. He does beautiful work.
Anyway, it is officially the weekend. I hope that everyone will have a good one. Love you gals.
Ruby
Back from Barrie, almost needed a boat, thunder/lightning and rain so heavy had to stop by the roadside...
OMGGGGGG, I don't think I was out buying diapers since my gaffers were babies and even then I used 'Storkland Diaper Service' so here I go to purchase odd/ends and diapers...$27.98 for a box of 104..choke/choke..you've got to be kidding, so I'm walking down the isle, picking up odds and ends thinking to myself...did I not see on e-bay that I could order one for $89.99 or $109.99 and $119.99 and I think, shucks why would I spend that when it's pick up a few things and done...did I get a surprise..I've probably got $89.99 invested plus I called Suzanne who was in Toronto to get me one of those clear bags you use hairdryer on to make it look more professional and also need a cake board so probably another $20.00 thank goodness I love this little girl...could have gone just with table/chairs...oh well...lesson learnt...
So then I'm passing my brother Bernie's right? hey what 5 minutes to say hello..drop in and right away he says, have something for you, keep meaning to bring it and always forget...shake my head SILLY!!! here's 12 pairs of pants that need shortening and he's about another 5 ot 6 that he couldn't find..most still with tags on it...so, needn't worry what I can do after making the diaper cake...shortening pants is on the 'to do'list this weekend...
Do want to come back and gab with you all but Suzanne will be here shortly bringing friends...I had stopped along the roadway and picked up the most beautiful flowers...so I've about 4 arrangements started outside, just need to cut a few of mine for embellishments..want to make a few goodies although they'll only be here for an hour and then Barb will be dropping in for the glasses...
So better get a move on..
Hello, having fun with the cake Judy and everyone...Deborah, it's easy as 1-2-3 just as Judy said it was...will show you step by step and that way it won't be so overwhelming...
Sat and enjoyed coffee over rolling the 104 diapers and putting elastic to hold each one rolled up...
simple process and relaxing all in one...
Now because I bought a box of 104 -won't keep any here I'll not need them..lol..I've used them all up - 4 tier cake..why not - brides do it...
So got a large elastic for the $1.00 store elastic bag (all sizes) and started to fill it in, not sure but I think it's 40 diapers..will have to count #'s in each tier before I get much further...
Bought nice wide ribbon to tie around each cake layer to match some of the non gender items..just placed a piece on top layer so you'd see the colors...
My next quandry is if I just attach the ribbon and glue gun into a circle, or, if I sewed narrow elastic to it so it gathers somewhat and make it simpler to add the baby items in??? hmmm off I go to next step while Deborah goes to Walmart or something similar to purchase her items...
2nd thing I found odd on my shopping trip this morning...trying to find a pretty stuffed animal with color to match..lordy they only had 2 or 3 little ones or large large ones in the baby dept. none in toy dept so I'm off to get cat food/dog food and there is an entire display of softies for people to purchase for their dogs/cats etc. - don't you think that is unusual..change in times? lol
Best if accessories match the colors in the diapers. Ok I'm off for supplies. Mine will be for a girl.
Betty,
You got my mind clicking........:O-
You know how wedding cakes have flowers here and there (of icing) on the cake?
You could buy small items (Pacifiers, extra nipples for the bottle, rattlers, more small bibs rolled into a rose, etc...) and put them here and there on the cake where the layers meet. Now--you don't want to glue-gun these on the diapers, so attach them to another ribbon and tie it around, the best you can, between the layers. A pretty bow or curling ribbon here and there will hid any flaws.
Whacha think??????
Gita
Ok girls that is truly how quickly it was to put together...
I opted because I purchased the more expensive ribbon (wasn't quite the color, next time I'll match better only because I didn't know the diapers were designed, thought they'd simply be white..doesn't matter...so I tied securely the layers of diapers which were held by an elastic to secure..some of the items were a little large so I simple attached an elastic and twisted it so the elastic goes between one of the circular diapers..worked like a charm..absolutely no glue, no mess, no fuss and I'm impressed..will pick up a few more items tonight..found the bottle I purchased a little big so just put it in the center of 4th layer..might change that, I don't know...now my thoughts are to keep the layers togeter without using any type of glue...mind ticked and I'll go pick up very small 'dowellling' at home depot and carefully insert it so it holds all the layers together...will pick up a cardboard cake plate as well...
All and all I doubt it took me more than 1 1/2..guess if I went and check the post above to know what time I started and this post..it would be about that much..
Will pick up decorative pkg. ribbon so that when I put it in clear bag which I'll blow dry to tighten..I know my niece will freak..
Does that mean I have to start shortening all those pants..lol
My favorite, the elephant on the bib.
Ruby
Thanks Ruby...often invited to baby showers..think the trick is to pick up odds and sods when you see them..still need little socks, a rattle and a few other things...give me something to do this evening..have to pick up thread for the jeans anyway...
Judy you were right, no time at all to do the project it's just getting the materials together...you opened a can or worms...we'll all be 'caking' out..lol
Betty..that will be the hit of the baby shower. What a great idea!
We have had huge thunderstorms off and on today. Some of the loudest booms of thunder I can ever remember hearing. Now the sun is coming out.
This is one of my new lilies Orientpet Robina..it just got the two blooms..but they are huge! Fragrance is wonderful.
Orienpet is a hybrid cross between an Oriental and a Trumpet lily. First time having one.
Jeanine..will be fun to know which puppy is best suited to you. Did you get any vibes from from the puppies. What I mean is..did one seem to stand out to you?
They are sweet.
wow, they are beautiful..never had lily's till this year, nope, bought one last year, after seeing everyone's photo's must purchase more...can't wait for mine to open, the one that has such a scent..no name??? awe...must learn to keep the tags...
Carol, everyone was doing same in Barrie this morning, waiting in the store until the lightning was done...must have been same storm..now, it's sunshine and muggy...
