Morning everyone. Betty, just pour yourself a fresh cup of coffee and drink it with a straw. LOL
Have the mini heater on, blowing hot air to dry me up..lol..wanting to do too many things at once..you said it was quite a week for you as well, anything you feel you can share?
I've put you on my trusty little USA map of DG friends..shucks, if I keep this up I can travel a couple of hours, have coffee with a friends and continue doing same all the way to Florida..make make the trip more interesting but most likely by the time I'd get there it would be time to come home..lol
Overcast here again today and calling for much the same everyday until next week..having supper in Barrie tonight with SIL's and niece..should be nice..love Marketplace Buffets..
Girls were all pleased last night with their projects..should be finished in a couple of weeks and then I'll take 2 or 3 off for a rest and start back in Sept.
Wayne has an appt. for about another hour and as soon as he's finished and Suzanne is finished with hers I'll take out the wine glasses and start painting...
Suzanne is away this afternoon so I think I'll take a run up to Canadian Tire and see what shrubs they have left...want to purchase something that will bloom with mega color as I received Carole Eads compost from Alaska and want to make a little area in the DG friendship garden for it..
Morning!Have just been out of sorts and not posting much. Maybe hormones! LOL Who knows. But working myself out of this funk.
Betty slow down! My boss just called me. She threw out her back and is alone in the store. It hadn't opened yet. We talked pain meds. Those heat patches. She hadn't thought of those. So will try that. She is thinking of the Chiroprator also. Calling in one of the other girls early. She needs to slow down a bit also.
Liz I have always told my guys to have a nother job to go to if they are quitting. Has worked out good for DH. Glad your DH still has a job. Mine worked at one where there was verbal abuse in front of customers and it wasn't anything DH did. Hope yours doesn't have anything like that go on. DH use to come home from that job and was always grumpy. Life was pretty rocky back then.
Welcome back Gita! I put your thread in my favorites so I can go and look when I have more time or am in for a break.
Judy what an exciting evening. My DS met Johnny Dep when he was filming in Indiana. Said he is very nice and after filming spends about an hour greeting fans. I said did you just melt and she said yes but not so he would know! LOL
Gilli I enjoyed being on your trip with you. I don't go anywhere so enjoy everyone elses.
Carol your garden is great.
I'm going to go for now. Here is one of my daylilies.
Vicki, my heart goes out to you, know what it's like to be out of sorts and lordy, takes a whole lot of effort to back back in zink..you will, just doesn't happen as quickly as we'd like...
As for rushing, I was 1/2 hr. early and that's why it was so maddening..no reason I couldn't have made 2nd trip to vehicle...I often laugh at myself (and that's a good thing) sometimes I'm in the washroom and I'll take something to do, i.e. grocery list and other simple tasks and I think 'wouldn't you think I could take time to do this alone???' always feeling as though life is short/short and want to cram every little bit into it..maybe it comes from Roger dying at 47 and feeling he missed out on so much...odd..but then when I look around my entire family is the same..so must be in the genes...
Glad your boss didn't make you go in..you are off today right?
Morning all! - we had some awesome rain last night! I could hear my poor plants slurping it up!!! Temps a lot lower today & tomorrow.
Well, I get to go and see the puppies tomorrow - covertly! As a rule, no one is suppose to be around them until they have their first shots but since I live so close and promised to wear clean, non-Murphy touched clothes, she said I can come over. Of course I joked with her that I will do the "silkwood" scrub down if necessary! Here are a few pics from this morning - I am IN LOVE!!!!
lol..Jeannine you are so funny..omg I'm in love myself..no wonder you can't wait...I'd want to take them all home...keep telling myself once Sailor is gone NO doggie..we'll see if that happens..
Those pups are so sweet how would you choose? Betty we sound so much alike I don't have to write much. You say it before I do LOL!! Ves do not laugh but tell your boss to use horse linamint it works I use it all the time when my back goes out. Gitta glad you are back and had a good time. Hi Ruby, Sharon, and all the rest. Well better git busy. Hugs BEV
Betty no worries of being called in for this type of thing. There are times it pays to be a lowly clerk! LOL Otherwise if I was an Asst. Manager I know she would call me in before the others.
Had to come in Batteries running low on the camera. Got about half of my Iris cut back and cleaned out,. Boy do they need thinning already!
Anybody need Iris Indian Chief for postage let me know. Will mail out in Sept. if wanted. This picture was taken last year.
Zinnia - Liliput?
Hi Bev, how's Scotty doing? are you able to get to the trailer this weekend? summer will soon be winding down, then we'll all be scratching our heads trying to find something to take up the time we generally are spending in the garden? NOT..lol...neighbor was over last night for few minutes before my class and said same thing, can see changes in garden that normally you see in Sept.
Sitting here, everyone is either at meetings or gone to lunch so I'm painting glasses..
Ves, I will take some for postage. Thanks and just let me know. BEV
Ves, if you have enough, I'd love Iris Indian Chief for postage. Thank you for offering it.
Deborah
Betty, I posted my woes on Jayes thread, but will here to. First of the week my son's jeep gets stolen, then found trashed and 2 windows blown out $3200.00 to get running again still broken windows to be fixed, next the air conditioner and dish washer gots kuput, get the air fixed, I didn't bother mentioning the dish washer, then the lawn mower folks sling a rock through the dining room window. Glass can not be replaced, requires a whole new sash and 2 colors of paint for inside and outside, then last night, our Lab Kobe has a seizure. we thought we had lost him, called the vet at 1:00am this morning. He's back to his ol' self but I tell ya, let everthing fall to pieces but leave my son and dog alone. I've been through the mill this week. But I know there are better days ahead.
Deborah sorry you are having such a rotten week. That's about as good as I get with words. The others are so much better. Someday I might get there. LOL I do agree leave the kid and pet alone!
Got you guys down for the iris. There will be plenty. I give away as much as I can or end up throwing it away.
Yuk, and I thought my morning was bad..not in this lifetime..even counting in fishing in toilet bowl for my keys..lol..wow..went through a year of saying back many years ago 'can't get any worse' well it could so don't pick up that phrase...sure hope things improve...
Those Indian Chief iris' are beautiful..too bad they can't be sent across the border..america should be america and plant shipping allowed..
Bev isn't that they way..how cute..very tiny .... adorable..seems to have adjusted well to new home...
Girls went to lunch but they should be back to relieve me for mine shortly..here's my thought..spend $10.00 on a lunch I don't need (makes my tummy swell) OR $10.00 on another shrub to make my head swell from all the beauty when it will bloom? Toss of a coin, which shall it be?
Wow, I have wild orange 'tiger lily's'...your blue sure would look brilliant next to mine but another no-go...
Bev that's beautiful...ok, almost skipped lunch, just a sandwhich and made Canadian Tire, my downfall...sitting in my car is the following treasures..lol
1-Jasmin Trumpte vine, 1- white wreigeilia (for Carole's memorial), 2- mandarin Honeysuckels,
2 Golden flame honeysuckles and 1 Dward Burning bush
then,
perrenials.... 2 pink frost foam bells, 2 golden creeping speedwell, 2 siberian wallflowers (love them, they grow masses of orange flowers and last from spring to fall) and 2 juniper thymes...
As you can imagine, I'm excited...lol...doesn't take much to excite me right?
Dark sky turned sunny around lunch and within the last 10 minutes another storm has blown in...
About 100 miles from here near Niagara, a storm hit Tuesday night and all but destroyed the peach farms, veggie garms, grapes etc. infact people were out with shovels and municipality had to send it clearing equipment the hail was so large and heavy...big loss to those farmers...
Well ate my salmon sandwhich, keeping tummy empty for the buffet this evening AND I'm back to the glasses...
Thank you all for the "Welcome Back" greetings. I feel SOOOOOOOOO wonderful knowing you all care--but then that is what this Thread is all about.
Vegging mostly--need to use these free days more constructively....
I am still a bit off-kilter. Fading by 9PM and then waking up around 6AM (probably the "afternoon" to Betty...:o)). My Soul is, slowly, pecking away at the 7 hr. difference--backwards.
As I said--I have uploaded 450 pictures. It will be difficult choosing WHAT to post so as not to bore any of you. I don't want to overwhelm you with "stuff", as I know looking at someone else's vacation pictures can get pretty "Ho-Hum".....
OK! Enough time spent today on the "C".......
Gita
I for one am looking forward to the photo's and the history behind them...would have said 'hi' before now but I really did think you would be away another week...time flies...what Gita was the biggest change since you were there years ago?
LOL...Hi, Geesh forgot to watch the new thread...here I have been reading all over the place and wondering why it's so quiet on the home thread.
Yes, I am somewhat of a dork!
ANYWAYS....
Deb, Geesh, it is just one of those everything seems to go wrong at the same time kind of times. yikes went through that for a while. So the nice thought is after it's done it seems to be done again for a while. So, will keep you in mind for better times and fast recovery from these episodes. I'll Help Crissy move them clouds for you.
Betty, Must have somehow missed whatever happened to you? UM keys in toilet?? Hope you have a nice dinner tonight.
Bev, OMG lol, sad to see how much scotty hates kitties. what a cute photo. geesh, i am out of the flower guessing game, will continue to look at your beauties and learn the names from the good guessers!
Hi Ves, you know probably would melt if i met Johnny Depp, oh yes!
Yes please...I would love a couple of the Indian Chief! I have alway admired them. So sorry to hear you've been outta sorts. Sounds like you need a good rest. LOL, me too, can't seem to get cought up with things. Sometime i fell like a whizzer, i guess if we could stay in one place long enough i might be able to stay on top of things. Alway running on Judetime, ROFL, behind the times!
OMG Liz, just glad all is good with you. Sounds like DH got things back in somkind of understanding. lol, fell asleep at 10:00 very early for me.
OMG GG-Those puppies are just too adorable.
Waving hello to laura, hope you doing well. Enjoying Baby!
Posted on your Greeting thread Gita...But will Welcome you home here too!
Yep i am looking forward to the photo's as well.
OH Gilli-I am so glad you got the computer time to tell us about your vacation!! Great pictures and am so glad you are home safe. Now i just loved that you got to have a date with DH! So sweet and what nice couple you are.
Hi Carol, Geesh...still catching up...Woohoo, a new rider mower. Nice picture of your brother and friend. That is one heck of a box...how the heck did they get it off of there?
Shar, Hello!! Hope your doing well.
Well DH going back to cottage this weekend. NOT me, I need to stay home and take care of some things...like poor neglected yard! notice I didn't say garden, ...But I will tell you Betty,I've enjoyed sitting in my chair each evening that I can, lately with our weather oh my it has been wonderful...Then on Saturday I am going to another DG'rs house for a visit in her gardens! Should be fun.
I want some vicky, if you can and have enough.
Jeannine your pupps are so cute, but you know what is coming. lol
Betty and all Canadians, Is there a Canadian forum? I never knew and am to lazy to check right away.
I was out watering, digging in the clay and watering the holes so I can dig more later, wheeling around wheel barrels full of those blocks to edge the new lasagna bed that isn't edged yet and still not finished as my back was giving out and I got too overheated, Ya know when your heart is beating out of your chest and your face is red, sweat in your eyes, so I just Quit and thought I'd check on you folks.
I started a lasagna bed that has the bottom blocked off, so it won't be as deep, I don't think. I was planning on putting roses because it has a lot of sun, but I don't feel like stacking and stacking tons of blocks there so make it deep enough. It will still drain but gophers will not be able to get at them unless they go up and over. What takes a lot of sun that is short rooted? I can't put stuff with big ol tap roots? any ideas. Gladiolas don't have long roots. bulbs, but I just don't know. I hate when you have only bulbs because they bloom and die so fast then you don't have anything. Bulbs may not be good because of the bottom, may hold too much water.
welcome back Gita, too bad it is so long of an ordeal to post pictures here because there are so many I bet you want to share.
I hate when we are all posting on different threads. Confusing. Betty gave me the heads up or I'd still be doing it, Oh ya, I still am when I see people post there.
Betty,
I can't even compare what Riga was like in 1994 to what it is like today! Impossible!
Today--it is just like here. All kinds of expensive cars driving around--traffic jams--Police on the roads trying to catch all the speeders--Stores have clothing and shoes I could NEVER afford--All the young girls are beyond gorgeous and stylish--AND--they all wear high heels. How they manage walking all over the cobblestone streets in heels is a mystery.
I have heard from reading publications there that the girls all, shamelessly, chase after men. It sure looked like it. They ALL are beautiful! Tall, skinny, long legs and then high heels to boot. Faces that could go in a magazine---high cheekbones, beautiful eyes, not much make-up (except the eyes...), etc.
Many of the downtown buildings have all been cleaned up and painted from the outside and look like palaces. There are 750 Art Nouveau, old buildings in Riga. The most anywhere in Europe. I have lots of pictures from them. There is a street that is known as Embassy Row--as many countries have Embassies there.
Therte are flower vendors all over the place. You would not believe how beautiful all the flowers are! Never! Lilies, Sweet Peas, Daisies and bachelor buttons dominate. HUGE Lilies! Everyone carries flowers, big or small, wherever they are going.
When we arrived at the Airport, many of out relatives were there to greet us--with bouquets of flowers in their hands. Such a nice tradition.
Well--I was going to sort through some of my Photos, but i am already feeling sleepy--and it is ONLY 7:30PM. Maybe, because I woke up before 6AM this morning and got up about 1/2 hr. later. This is where the 7hr. difference rears it's head.....The sleep cycles are all whacko!
Please--you all, be patient a couple more days re the pictures. Then go to the M.A.F. and see them there.
Ciao for now!
Here's a picture of the National Opera House. So well known and recognized.....and MOI standing there....:o)
Gita your a pretty sexy woman. When you said you were sad a while ago about being alone and not sharing your life with someone. It is not because you are not attractive. What cool things you have gotten to do and places you have seen. I can't wait to go to Eastern Europe one day, the history and artchitecture. (excuse spelling, I am not on Mozilla at the moment). Tell us all about it.
Thanks Dawn--I am not exactly a "gravel Gertie". I think it is just that i do not go anywhere much to meet people. I do not attend church, do not belong to any Groups and do not go out anywhere.
I am the outdoorsy type--talk a lot, say what I think, never wear skirts or dresses, etc....I do not know what there is, really, is for a man to be attracted to a woman. Beats me!
I am too chicken to try Internet dating as my age group would be too old for my liking. I am very young at heart, in interests, and--yes--looks too. But--I am "up there" age wise....
:o)
Hello, just arrived home..OMG was almost sick to my tummy laughing so very hearty..it's been a long long time since I let the laughter go..think everyone in the restaurant either thought we were nuts or envied us for the fun we were having...Linda (cousin then married Roger's brother-now divorced) is sooo much fun..we're tempted to do it once a month..niece Danielle who is pregnant joined us but don't think she thought we were as nutz as we were..lol..wants to come next time..lol..
But must tell you, it was a buffet so you pay first, get a tray and drinks and cutlery then you find a table..paid for Linda and me, put the tray on the countertop to pay, the entire tray flipped, pop all over me and the rug..today I was an accident waiting to happen..lol glad the day is almost over...
Here's a photo of Suzanne (in white, Danielle-niece who is pregnant and my my SIL Linda whom I adore...
Got home and Cathy had cut all my grass again..so no work for me tomorrow aft.- can just play in my gardens..not only did she cut the grass, she brought me homemade cookies, dish of blueberries she picked..left a note to remind me I should purchase more gas...imagine...
as well, another earthly angel - BIL Robert dropped off a commercial casing of nylon thread for repairing his boat top...so I've been blessed today wouldn't you say!
