98 brutal degrees in the backyard, gentle breeze in the shade...just fine if you sit perfectly still! You should have seen me plotting the pth for the dog walk - staying in the shade ain't always ez!
"They" are threatening scattered thunderstorms for the next 4-5 days. Let's hope we're somewhere in that.
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 26
Promises, promises...
Not as hot and humid here as yesterday...cloudy, hazy, and praying for a long, slow deluge.....
Where is Craryville?
We are near Hudson, NY. Columbia County. Sequee, do you ever go to the Carmel Starbucks? My husband is the manager there.
I'm pretty much a "drink my coffee at home" sorta girl, but we did stop there when my step-daughters were in toen. They run on caffeine, and drink their coffee by the quart - we were there often - it's about 4 miles from my house.
That's quite a trek for him, isn't it???
Hope that one is not on the hit list, morrigan!
90 degrees and lots of clouds going over head. Some look like they might have some rain in them but so far all the t-storms are just missing us to the north. Hope at a little bit of rain finds it's way here.
The wind is kicking up here, but the sun is still blazing. PekeBoo just came out of the bathroom with his ears perked up. That usually means he is hearing thunder in the distance. Since I gave everything a thorough watering, it's bound to rain...
97 degrees in the shade.
accuweather says it's real feel of 96... all i know is my thermometer says it's 102... and that's the one attached to my window... and the house usually cools it off
I was out for a good part of this morning... even at 7:00 AM it was gross out
Had to drive to Hartford this afternoon and guess what? I got caught in a deluge! I got the giggles cuz I haven't seen rain in so long. My house was dry as a bone when I got back.. nice breeze though.
I know that feeling...
Remember when it rained at my house every day in June? No rain since then---gardens are like concrete. Spent yesterday in Commack, LI visiting with my stepdaughter--along with DH, DS, DIL, & 3 GKids--eveything fine until trip started back home--I escaped to top deck of ferry, but listened to screaming from 3 exhausted kids from Bridgeport to home----they were in the pool all day--even Grant---I was comatose--they must have been on a sugar high! Hot---91 today--but cooling ? off now, with a wind off the Sahara. It took a lily right out of the ground!
No rain here either. Another line forming and heading east. Looks like NH and southern Maine are getting hit again. Hoping we get some too but it doesn't look too promising right now. There is that tropical storm that is coming up the coast, but now it may go to far east to dump any nice soaking rain here. Temp down to 79 now and the AC is not working right, oh joy, service call tomorrow I guess.
Oh no! No a/c. I see a fairly large line making its way east toward me. Fingers crossed!
What a nice soaking rain we have coming down! I went and stood on the front stoop, under the overhang until I "chilled out". Felt so good to actually feel "cool"...
Still stuffy inside, but the downpour continues... I'm sure the garden feels as gratified as I do...
88 degrees and dropping nicely...
Temp 78.4°, Wind SSW 9.8, Rh 59%, Baro 29.64↓. ☺
Thick Haze & windy tonight, (mosquitoes are grounded). Some thunderstorms on radar but on a NE track... far too west to reach Eastern LI.
it rained for about 10 mins here.. nothing good STILL
:)
rained infrequently off and on lightly all day

59* feels like 72
90% humidity
Showers forcast
Everything is damp even the upholstered furniture
Doncha just hate that dampness the humidity brings, Jo Ann? Even my clothes are cold and clammy when I put them on ... so much for closets!!
The weather was wicked yesterday evening and replete with huge thunderstorms which just seemed to follow each other as they made their way to the seacoast. We had more rain that we needed, with pretty gusty winds. Towns south and west of me got hit really hard, with lightning strikes to homes, and trees downed.
This sort of weather pattern will be the watchword for the week, I hear. Days of high humidity, followed by evenings of T-storms ... but no relief from the humidity.
Currently, we have drizzle and lots of fog, and it's already 70° at this early hour!
Wind: SSE at 3 MPH for now
Humidity: 100%
Dewpoint: 70°
Pressure: 29.77 in. and steady, so far
And Victor ... here are the sunlight stats for today:
Sunrise: 5:26 am
Sunset: 8:17 pm
Dont need the sun starts to know what's coming.
It's dark when I get up nowadays.
I'm going to turn the AC on so I can breath.
I'll take pics in an hour or so when it's brighter, doubt I'll see the sun today.
74 degrees with 87% RH, no rain here in weeks, T-storms keep missing the coast.
Rain, rain...cooling, soaking rain, throughout the night. Woke up to a clean, fresh morning. 64 refreshing degrees.
We got an early morning shower, just enough to wet everything but not even an eighth of an inch. Never went below 75 degrees overnight and is starting to climb again. Sun is burning through the early am overcast now too. Chance of t-storms every pm this week. How are you all up north? Heard there were some nasty storms again up there. AC man coming to fix the outside unit today. Very muggy already, hope he doesn't take too long.
Temp 80.9°, Rh 55%, Baro 29.64 steady. ☺
Mostly sunny skies.
Thunderstorms & heavy downpour in early AM. Now waiting for our grass pathes to dry before digging iris plants for Sat. sale in Concord MA.
Got nothing overnight! There was wind for a while, but once again, no rain. I'm starting to think there is a huge invisible umbrella over my area. 80 and about 50% RH. The pattern goes on and on...
I got rain on Sat. evening...big T- Storms with wind but no hail thank goodness! Yesterday it rained softly all day...I heard the grass say AHHHHhhhhhh. I'm not kidding....it was crunching when you walked on it before the rain. I went out and weeded in the rain and lifted my face up to the rain just like my flowers!! LOL
Last night we got down pours....filled several 5gal. buckets and seperated, layed down some of my clumps of daisy's, delpiniums ect... I'm not complaining we could use more, i've actually been praying for it and it looks like we may get it.
The A/C got turned off Sat. night and I have not had to put it back on yet. I have some iris's that need to be dug and shipped out to certain people but I haven't dared to do it because of the drought.
Maybe I can finally get to it this week....keep you fingers crossed those of you I owe iris's to....I haven't forgot you!!!!!!!
My DD is flying in on Wed. and we are having a big wing-ding on Sat. Justin, my special son turns 28 on the 31st so we are having his party while his sister is home.
All his favorites will be served: 35 Lobsters have been ordered, Shrimp Cocktail, Rotisserie Prime Rib, Caribbean Jerk Chicken, corn on the cob, fresh garden salad, Potato Salad, Strawberry Dream pie, Mandarin Orange Cake, Chocolate Chip cookies and then everyone is going to my oldest DD to swim in her pool!
Now the weather for the week....it needs to clear up by Sat.! LOL

The wing ding sounds lavish, wish you lived closer.
WNY it's going to be like this all day
HUMID with threatening clouds and short bursts of sun.
I can see blue patches.
You know the old saying"If you can see a patch of blue large enough to make a Dutchman a pair of britches,it will clear up"
The sun is shining and it is raining ..... :- ...... mosquito heaven :-(
Wow, happy birthday to Justin and hope you have great weather, Celeste. Sounds like a great feast!
Thanks Victor, it's the only day I don't want it to rain!
I just posted about the glorious rain in the old weather thread by mistake that we were having. It is now sunny again and no rain. Sad. Patti
That's what you get for posting on the wrong thread!
Almost did it again. Victor's fault as both his great shots of sky are too much alike for my feeble brain. Each time I go out to deadhead it starts raining again. I am more hopeful about the next cell to move through. I hope it goes a tad more north to really nail us with some serious rain. But great right now. Drat, spoke too soon, tailing off.
DH got the tanker in and did not destroy any mega yachts or get hit by the lightening. Gas will be going up on Weds, I assume. We filled up the car yesterday in case. Patti
Congrats to DH, Patti. Thanks on the pics. Still dreaming about rain...
Dreamin' of rain - night-maring about gas prices! Sheesh - even @ 31 mpg, the going's getiing rough!
Nice breeze out today.
