Another one.
New MG's for me 2008 #3
Helena - Beautiful! All of them! I can't get over the "bleedling" pattern on this one though. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=5321918 Just amazing!!!
Helena - I use the cut up straw trick and that was the only way I could tell mine apart now that I am collecting seeds from all of the different vines.
I had been marking the entire vines themselves with straw sleeves, but decided it was smarter to mark just the blooms instead. I used a couple of straws at the base of the vine so I would remember what color of straw I used for which vine. And then when the vines would bloom, I would mark the bloom with the appropriate color of straw sleeve. It makes it much easier to find the seeds and to know which vine they are from! :-) Antoinette came up with that simple and brilliant idea and it works!!!
I have been collecting seeds and can see some have crossed by the color of the seeds. Ironically, 2 of the vines I grew had light tan seeds. Both were prolific seed producers as I am finding out. I have opened up some seed pods to find a tan seed, a brown seed, and a tan AND brown seed! LOL! I shall be growing those out as I am curious to know what the cross is. The bees and hummers seemed to enjoy my blooms! :-) And I did a little hand pollinating myself. I could never get bored of MGs. They are just soooo interesting and fun to grow! :-)

I thought you would Becky, I believe that's rose silk. I'll save you some seeds from it.
Thanks for the info Ron, I have 3 blooms onit now and they all are similar to Fusi no Murasaki. Especially if Emma grew it last year.
This is solid chocolate from the other day Becky. I've collected a few seeds from this one too.

Your blooms leave me speechless, helen! They are magnificent to look at.......thanks
gail
The bloom is nice and reminds me of one with split petals that was called Maruba, but I think that Butterfly Kisses is someones private pet name...
Thanks Gail & your welcome. I'm having fun growing & enjoying the blooms too especially today, lots & lots of blooms but they are repeats that I already posted.
Thanks Ron for the info. That bloom doesn't open very much.
Here's Aratsuki No Murasaki. Copied from trade lable so I hope it's right.
