As always, Placenciarita ~ you have beautiful blooms! I had to smile when I saw your Crocosmias... I have a love hate relationship with them. I love their ability to bloom in the sweltering heat we enjoy and I hate the way the manage to fall flat on their blooming faces every time! I keep threatening to give mine away. Someone suggested a decorative fireplace screen to support them. Cocoa_lulu suggested an old (seatless) chair to let them grow up in... might try that before I ship them. Very pretty blooms...
Sizzling Hot July Blooms-pg. 2
Good morning fellow gardeners in Tx. May I join in? There're some sizzling blossoms here too under the heat of July in Central Al. Temp. is gearing to be nearly 100F.
This is Clethra's in full blooms. A tree that hypernates well past spring time before it sends out leaves buds, but then promptly send out it blossoms in early Summer.
Hi Kim! Don't you just love the summer bloomers! Is Clethra fragrant as well? It is lovely!
Hi Pod, Don't I ever!!! But, can we please take the blooms, and drop the heat down some? LOL. It's said Clethra should be fragrant, but to tell you the truth, those bees always hovering over these blooms by dozen, I had not the courage to get close and smell the fragrant. lol.
How have you been?
Here are some Latanas and annual salvias. My camera program is acting up this am, I can't seem to load my today's pix....will be back later.
Enjoy your day. :-)
Post more, Emma Grace. She has the best MG's.......
Good morning, and thanks Rita for the welcome. I love those tree/bush MG, is yours a pink one? I've a lavender bush MG and it's at peak blooms at present.
Some tender perennial that is a hummingbirds/bee's magnet. Spicy jatropa's scarlet red daintly blooms and its attractive seedpod.
The plant is very drought tolerance.
Kim
Hi TJ. Did you know the bloom won't open without the bees. I have several pictures of them gently picking the bloom open and then going into it. I love watching them open up and the scent is so delicate. I have lots of bees of every ilk but no butterflies. Can't figure it out. Don't think I have ever seen the hummingbird moth. Neat picture.
Christi
Hi Lily. Glad to see you over here in Texas. Fun bunch. Been lurking a lot.
Christi
LOL, same here, somehow I feel Tx. gardening is my 'second home' away from home (Midsouth Forum). I'm glad to meet up with you and Pod.
Kim
Christi, your bush MG looks lighter pink compared to mine. I've a small cutting of the labelled 'pink' and I can't hardly wait to see its bloom here in the garden. I love those blossoms, bees do as well. So far I haven't seen mine making any seeds, have yours?
White blooming mid-season hydrangea, this is 'Limelight'. This situated in a dappled shade area and it performed well for the past few years.
Oh, Lily, how beautiful. Actually the MG Tree is very lavender. Guess my camera didn't pick up the colors so well.
Placenciarita ~ you are welcome! and I am jealous. My plants got a late start and now am so anxious for a beautiful bloom.
Bronc ~ are your French hollyhocks a shade of pink? Or lavender?
Kim, Christi, EmmaGrace, Placenciarita, Bronc & all ~ everything is lovely as usual! 8 )
I would say they are a deep wine red color that fades into pink and then to white.
Hi EmmaGrace, thank you for sharing the two different tree/bush MGs with us. As one can see (from my PC's screen at least), I can't tell the different in the shades of pink/purple. Indeed I've the light purple which I called it lavender. I love those graceful trumpet-like flowers. Bees loves to nectar from the flowers, and the tortoise beetles love to munch on their leaves.

Another example of how the color doesn't really reflect its true hue. Let's see if anyone can tell which of my ruella is pink and which is the purple/blue one. To echo someone's post earlier about these flowers, I do have the love/hate relationship with this lovely plants.
(I'll post one here and follow up with the other):
Hi Christi, did you know Ruella will behave as bog plant? I just take one that's dug up, washed off the soil. Stick it into my fish pond....and it flourish there without much nutrient added. One versatile plant!
Check this cascading Crepe myrtle out! It has a weeping habit, hardy here in my region but looks best in a tall pot to enjoy its pendulus effect. The furbaby is 'Jelly Bean' my guard dog. lol
I sure didn't know that. Will have to add some to the pond today. I have fallen in love with crepe myrtle after seeing it everywhere all of my life. It is really wild looking growin right beside the bananas with the HUGE elephant ears right below it. I particularly like the (can't remember the name) white tree size that weeps. Also just getting the Dynamite started.
Your picture is very relaxing. It is already almost 100 here today so will just enjoy things from inside. The three dogs are thinking that is a good idea too. hahaha
It's hot here too, I managed to repotted some potting plants, taken care of some little chores in the garden, but our pets will concur with yours. Sometimes, they just sat inside and watched me get outside under the heat, if they could talk they'd say....not for us, wait until sun down. lol.
Here are some ground cover to the front, 'American Dream' corieopsis, white obedient plant and some gingers.
Emma Grace, those morning glory trees are wonderful looking. It seems every one is loving and growing them.
Thanks gessiegail -
They would grow super nice in your zone.
I will be happy to send you some seeds if you like.
Emma
