Here is a DL I thought was going to be stunning...it's just 'Blah' here is DL 'Brutus'
Garden Photos part 24
WOW sure is orange.Looks beautiful.
What do you have for a companion?
Brutus isn't so bad Maybe it will "grow on you" LOL
Looks like a Ditch lily to me, they are beautiful in their own way. so tall and an eye catcher in masses
ge--that's in the sort of sunny, sort of shady part of my yard. There is a Heuchera there with a few hosta...lol. I always love when Hosta and DL go together...lol.
I would definitely like being your neighbor Willie if that's view!
What beautiful Dlillies and Lillies everyone.
Dyane.... I love those Peacock Orchids as well. I planted well over a hundred of them 8 or 9 years ago not knowing that they are a delicatessen for my moles/gophers around here. But, I read somewhere that they could take colder weather if they were in soil that drained fast enough that they wouldn't be wet in the winter. It seems to be true. I've since lost almost everyone of the original group because I didn't keep the moles out, but all in all they hung around for about 5 years. But I started planting new groups of them, protected from the moles, and they seem to return pretty regularly. My sister lives in zone 5 and about 5 years ago decided to try out the philosphy as well, and they've been coming back regularly for her as well.

redchic ~ where the heck have you been?
Thom ~ how far from the hosta do you place your DL?
Yes, welcome back, Shelly. I'll start a new thread.
Okay - new thread:

I've been pet/garden (and I do mean garden sitting!)sitting a lot for some folks that I've sat for for years. Anyhow, I figured I would show some pics of a garden that I get to take care of once in while. I didn't get many as far as broad or panoramic pics are concerned, but here are some of what I did get. I don't even begin to know the variety names of all of these, but I can come pretty close.
An Oregon native mountain lupine that grows at around 3000- 6500'
Hmmm...thanks for the info, Redchic. With all the bulbs I have coming this fall to plant in the gardens, I could use a break on the bulbs that need to be lifted. I may try leaving the Peacock Orchids and just lifting the Dahlias, freesias, etc.
I just took a minute to read up on them and it seems that a lot of people find them hardy to at least Zone 7. Thanks, you saved me from a chore. I'll let you know how they do next year. They are not very expensive so even if they didn't survive and I wanted to plant them again it wouldn't be such a loss.
RC - Thanks for the info on the peacock orchids. I don't have as many as Dyane, but I, too will see if they make it through the winter now....
Gorgeous mountain lupine!
Patti!!!
I believe I switched the markers when I planted theRed Dutch bulbs and I also have Touching instead of Shocking.
I'm embarrased but what the heck in the long run they are both great.
Now to iron out an order with B&D Lilies that was sent last Oct.
I may have to buy lilie bulbs elsewhere. They sent one out of three of the CopperKing trumpets the other two bulbs are shorter and different noids.I'm waiting for the other three Moonlight trumpets to bloom to see if they are the three Moonlight Strains, I doubt it as all three buds are different. I know it's picky but I want what I ordered and B&D Lilies aren't cheap.
Good thing I have digital camera and can send pics of what's blooming.
