Purple DL is 'Indian Giver' isn't it?

Coneflower just starting.

It might be.

Very nice combo with the PDD and DL and the hydrangea Victor. Are these all in a group or do you have several PDD plants? My 'Indian Giver' was new last year and just has buds now, here is a pic from last year for you to compare with yours, not the best shot but you can see if this is what yours is or not.

It does look like it. Those are all in the same small bed. I have one large PDD from last year and I just added one on each side of it.

Victor - did your Sahin's flower yet?

The flower is a bit different from Mardis Gras - plus it's taller.

I have had 2 in the helenium flexosum family flower already too - Tiny Dancer

i love the bud on the right on that one, Al - it looks like some sea creature - really cool!
(i meant the different than Mardi Gras one - you post too fast for me!)

That's Mardis Gras, I had a few of my trades die so I'm down to only 13 kinds of helenium now.

Did have my first dahlia yesterday

Annual phlox from a nursery 6 pack. i like these a lot - and there ended up being 7 or 8 different kinds total. Small, but neat! Like colorful little snowflakes...

Another one:

WOW! That second one is a real stunner!

i was talking to ithink Cat and Nancy at the RU about how black the foliage is on "Black Pearl" pepper, even in full sun.
This is how black it is. In full sun.
i wish i had more of them.
(You can see part of a leaf from "Sweet Caroline" sweet potato vine at the bottom of the picture...)

I have not seen any, Al. I think one of the two bit the dust for sure over the winter. I have to look for the other one.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Thanks ngam! The phlox are small - the plants are only about 6", so you have to look close.
Also small, my pair of 25¢ Wal-Mart dianthuses (dianthi? or just dianthus?) finally are blooming - they were sad indeed. Strange little fellas - flowers seem very large compared to the plant - and also low down in it.

The second phlox and the pepper are really cool, Amy.

Thanks, Victor!

Now, don't y'all scoff, i know it is imperfect, but...

the 1st of my Victoriana dahlias, grown from seed, has bloomed.
(i am so delighted!)

And i think she is beautiful in spite of her imperfection...

Just checked - I do have one Sahin starting - though it's kind of on its side. Also have Moerheim Beauty starting so I'm encouraged.

This is the view from my new wall at the end of the patio. The hawthorn Winter King - to the right, behind the oakleaf hydrangea, appears brown. That is actually deep orange from the terrible rust that is attacking it. I'm gonna have to try to treat it next spring or may have to cut it down. I hope not - it's really a great tree with four season interest.

Amy this looks like your second phlox... I have grown them from seed and I love em too

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Yes, i found that PF entry - though my 6 pack said (ithink) Paloma Mix.
i figure it's probably like dianthus, and there are a zillion kinds that look very similar... Actually when i saw them at the nursery, i thought they were "Spooky Mix" dianthus, which i've only seen in PF and not in person...
The pointy ones i have in that color, a hotter pink and white, and a pale pink and white. But they are small, and i don't think anyone else notices them... (So thanks for noticing!)

Great pictures everyone

Anyone know anything about Renunculas.
DD bought bulbs ,planted them they looked great until June then leaves yellowed, no flowers yet.
I believed they were good for zone 6.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Amy I love that unusual little phlox!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

WNYwillieB, pretty good "make do" pond. Do you run a pump? I love the idea of starting a run of stream down to your "crick". I grow up with cricks and creeks, but no brooks. Now I have a brook in Vt and no creeks or cricks. Regardless, I love having water.

Amy, I am a fan of any dianthuses. Or however the plural is spelled. Love "pinks" especially the white ones and any that have a good fragrance.

I have a black pearl pepper in one of my containers and I love the color too. It is one I have had for a few years and it winters over, but struggles in the GH, but takes off again come summer.

My big excitement is that I have carpenters arriving in a few min. to finish my new gate and fence. End of the ugly mess, I hope.

Hollyhocks are starting. My old reliable peach single. Patti
