Merpeg and Oneanjl I loved the stories!
Since anyone with any brains is a sleep I will tell the story of getting caught in my nightgown on top of the greenhouse one Friday night. In our old house DH built me a greenhouse and it had a skylight that would open as long as you used a stick to prop it up. What can I say it was a bargain. In the summer it had to stay open, but autumn was here and the plants had been moved inside. DH worked nights and the 10:00 news said rain was coming and the temperature was going to drop like a rock.....so I ran outside in my "gown", put the ladder on the side of the greenhouse and shimmed up. Well I am not the tallest person in the world and the ladder was actually a little short so to get ontop of the greenhouse I had to lay on my stomach and sort of scoot on up. No problem. Walked over to the skylight and took the stick out and as luck would have it, it started raining. Nightgowns get a little body forming and thin when they get wet as well as I was getting cold. As I went back to get on the ladder I realized it was going to be alot harder to get down because it meant getting on my stomach and sliding off the roof hoping my feet would hit the ladder. I tried once and tried again but it is hard to slide off a roof to your waist (so your legs can bend ) before your feet can start feeling for the ladder. The whole time it is raining and cold. I stood there wondering if it would be worse to be caught by the guys on the roof or laying broken on the ground. My DH son was a teenager and was due home anytime and DH wouldn't be far behind him. We hadn't been married very long and DH really didn't know what he had gotten himself into....LOL. We lived kind of in the country on 1/2 acre, but as luck would have it my neighbor "she" went out to look for her cat and saw someone on the roof and luckly instead of calling the police she walked closer and saw me! She immediately fell out laughing and laughing which got me laughing. Finally after we composed ourselves, she came over and directed me off the roof. Being a friend she never told anyone but for weeks everytime we saw each other we just fell out laughing. DH and I have been married forever now and I am sure he wouldn't be shocked by anything I did anymore....well maybe.
On a serious note, I thought I read some where that you shouldn't have datura's, heirloom tomatoes and brugs together? Don't know why, I just have that in the back of my little mind.
I had a friend give me a root cutting of her hardy hibiscus, kind of like a peony and from it I took another cutting so I have two of those going. I saw something that said you could do stem cuttings also.
I think the buds on my Versi Peach have grown 4 inches in the last couple of days!
AuntB you can be sure I didn't talk you into buying a herb. I wouldn't know what to do with a fresh herb, plus know what it looks like....LOL
She's about to... # 4
Good morning, hotties. Now, this is bad. I dreamed last night I found buds on my brug. Dreamed it. Than I woke up.. this is an addiction.
Hubby's BD today so will be pretty busy. Talk to ya later. Peg

Good morning sis. Peg. and all my hotties sis. Peg have a great day with hubby.
On hibiscus cuttings, let me clarify; I've rooted the tropical hibs. and not the perennial hibs. :-)
Joyce, thanks for the dmail on caring of Bird of Paradise....
Peg. isn't our addiction a beautiful one? Dreams are good for us I do believe.
I've posted 'Eternity' blooms in the past. But here it's the second wave of blooms for the season. This cutting isn't quite a year old.: Look at the cotton-candy pink on this one, next to the caladium -- that gives you an idea what its true color is like.
Kimbob
Okay, hotties it isn't nice to keep secrets then pop off to bed. Have pity on your older sister hotties!! BTW, happy birthday Peg's husband!! Treat him special Peg.
Check my babies and no blooms--am I impatient or what?
Love the roof story--how funny!! One of these days I might share about late hubby taking the guys who worked with him shopping for my Christmas present one year!!! I still have trouble looking some of them in the face today----many,many years later!!! Arrrrrrrrrgh, thinking about it!!
Keep the picts and info flowing as I am reading and trying to file every word!!!
Aw, Marion, we can't wait to hear. Gracious! You hotties' were BUSY last night... I watched a movie with my son, through my eyelids. What is this SECRET, Clemen? Kim?? (shhhhhh.....I think it IS always the quiet ones!) lol Anjl, welcome back and just kinda pic a post and go from there. This one is starting to get long, it's taking forever to post a pic... and I been takin pics this morning....lets see.... Happ is sending me a BP(Bird of Paradise-orange), and someone is sending me a ginger corm/bulb? and I can't find the post up there.... Kimbob, was it you? See, still haven't found ALL my marbles... (Drew said we have a pkg to pick up at the po on Monday....... I asked what he thought it was and he said "probably more marbles, mom") lol Clemen, Peg, you guys still searching??? Peg you and DH have a great HB day... Happ, these are buds on Joyce's MONSTER white... The bud ends kind of dried a bit, does your's do that?
I do want to interject here, Peg AND Clemen are still not off the hook, I've yet to get an answer if the marble pkgs was a group effort, or just great minds thinking alike.... And I think I did call Clem a trouble maker.... she didn't really deny it that strongly, I'll change it to Ornery(sp?) she and the quiet Kim are just plain ornery..... Clemen and Kim, give us another morsel, at least.... I'm LOLROF here, on the "clothing/PJ" stories...thanks for sharing those.
I don't think I've fussed so much over other plants as I am over my brug. I'm so anxious to be able to say she is starting to bloom. Patience is really not one of my virtures.
Melissa, ;) That's why I have so many different tropical blooming plants... there's always something that is popping blooms or growth to keep me occupied... That's my story and I'm stickin to it. I know what you mean though, my brugs get babied the most and get the most attention. Takes a pound of 20-20-20 per week to feed the brug and hibiscus family. And with our spring so late, the payoff is just now starting show up. I love summer. Here's a plumeria, I bought at K-mart in Spring of 07, I've never had plumeria and don't seem to make time to inquire, but have read about them and know what they are. I am feeding it too. It IS developing it's first buds and an off shoot...
Oh, good lord, Samigal is NOT Melissa, she's Pegi, here we go again! I'm sorry Pegi, I meant you.
AuntB, my Monster didn't have dry tips, but it was indoors without wind. My brugs have taken a beating from the winds we have been having. I am thankful for them today or it would be so hot I wouldn't be able to take a breath.
Subject ginger...does it like full sun? I have mine in sun until about 1pm.
Going to go chop on BP. Then off to transplanting again.
Have my plumerias in the hot sun on the concrete, hope they will be ok. This whole time off I have been getting them ready for a sunny day and here it is.
Was playing in the water garden a snagged a tadpole. The fish are growing like weeds but the plants aren't. I don't think they get enough sun...maybe.
Back out to play....you hotties stay cool!
Joyce, you go! I'm so glad your getting things done, always makes me feel better. I need to get some things together for mail, and after this one, I won't mail cuttings until Fall, the weather is very hot for that. I think I will move the MW off the deck, that might help with the temp and the drying winds. Poor lil girl. I still think she's precious. ;)
AuntB oh the plants, the flowers--I'm working on it. Wish I had old pic of my flowers at the other house but haven't found them yet. Yikes 3 years and I am still unpacking!!!
I have my gingers in the shade as the sun here cooks them in no time. My peacock gingers are scattered--thank you squirrel beasties!!! I have a blue (although it isn't a true ginger I am told) and it also is in filtered. A few pinecone (Shampoo to others) that were here in the sun (what little I have) and am trying to get them relocated as they are sunburned also.
Baby brugs have wonderful cooer shady spot, much attention but one impatient Mom!!!!
Later for the shopping story.
Hey, where's Audrey? (Doe41)? We miss you. I was over on the Aroid forum (trying to catch up today).... I noticed some people that I recognized....didn't know yall were interested in aroids... Kim, Marion, Jaye, Pegi, Melissa and our sweet Audrey whom we haven't heard from lately... is she still on vaca? (fingers tapping on table......Clemen? Kim?, nothing?) OH all right, I AM getting busy this time.
...just never know where we will turn up!! Sort like they say about that penny. LOL
It's interesting Marion, how things you are putting in shade down there, I would have in full/part sun up here. I'd love to see pics at your convenience. I've lived here 19 years, moving would be painful! lol
Yes but we get hot sun much earlier than you do there. Have you ever read any of Felder Rushing's books on gardening? I use the one "Tough Plants for Florida Gardens" as my planting bible sometimes. Not to mention I read it cover to cover when I got home with it--funny!!!! He was a speaker at our festival one year and he is halarious in person as well as his book.
There are a lots of plants you can go in full sun that would sunburn here and died no matter what you did.
Ohhhh Bonnie... so purty!!
Joyce... I see you and pegi love the plumerias.. you too Bonnie.. I just got some cuttings at the RU... they looked fine, but 2 days later they were sriveling... I at least knew you needed to let them calous.. so I waited.. they didn't shrivel any more so I potted them. Now I read leave them in full sun...LOL I didn't do that.. so I am off to put them in sun?? seems harsh to me.. but they are tropical... The girl who offered them just plunked them down in the full sun.. I thought that may be what caused them to shrivel?? I sure hope this thing roots... cause I want a plumeria TOOOOOO!!!...lol.. you know I want them all... right?? hehe
OH.. and somebody told me June is THE month to root cuttings...so is that not right.. or just certain cuttings do better in spring and fall??I know some folks go by the signs.. but I guess I am like my DH... if the knifes sharp.... cut it!! That's an old saying if ya'll are scratching your head..
Finally off to Best Buy to get my puter.. I am always a day late and a $ short... I am NOT organized at all!!.. hehe
Where's our lil troublemakers?? huh?? humph.. out plotting I am sure.....lol
See ya!! Hottie sis's!!
Oh.. I forgot.. Joyce ... my gingers are in morning sun only.. and dappled at that..... if they start to burn.. may be too muh sun... and I would LOVE a BP if you have enough!! I'll dmail you when we get back..
Audrey has been posting on another thread I visit.. so I "think" she is ok..lol
Bye this time for sure...
lol! love the nightie storie...now thats something I would do! lolol!
as for rooting cuttings, I was told that its best to root them in the spring, when they have loads of energy for new growth....but this may be just for a certain kind of cuttings.... (roses)

Did I miss anyone? I can probably eck out a couple more.
I have my plumerias on the concrete driveway in black pots. I learned my lesson last year. My first plum didn't do anything until I sit it on the driveway in 90 degree weather.
It is hot and humid!!!
Hi Hotties, just chekcing in to say a quick hello, have been busy today and gardening and weeding like a hottie one alright, all sweaty hee, hee, so I'll leave you for now, gotta go back out. Have a nice afternoon everyone, Clemen
Hello all you Hotties!!

Just checking in. Off on another BD adventure... Wheee! Peg
Hello Hotties!
Not feeling so great today...uhg
Ahh so sweet : ) thanks!
Kimbob you are the sweetes, oops, I am going to get in trouble with the hotties again, lol, Clemen
Kim, feel better sooooonnnnnnnnnn, miss ya already!
I know I mispelled something, you all love anyway, foreigner girl here, hee, hee
Hey hotties, I spent the last 2 hours wrestling a bp!! Wow I had no idea it was that pot bound. I am surprised it didn't strangle itself. I had to take my gensu knife to it!
I am NOT mailing tomorrow I will wait until next Monday. I need to figure out how to package and I want to make sure each bp has enough roots for it's journey.
It is hot hot hot for this hottie....kimarj hope you get to feeling better. No fun being sick in the summer.
I must be getting old.....took be awhile to think what pg could be mistaken for.....LOL...
Anyone else have a zillion ants...everytime I pick up a pot or start to dig I am finding ants.
Back to work tomorrow.....how depressing.....actually I really like my job in the winter...LOL
Thank you Happ! let me know what I owe for postage and I'll mail it right off to you!
Kim, hope you're feeling better soon!
I was sooo depressed when I learned that i have to wait several more weeks for brug blooms! so I immediately tried to rectify my depression by purchasing a few more plants! lol! This DOESNT WORK LADIES!! I got my purchases home and researched them..... french lilac wont bloom for several more weeks, delphinium (blooming now!) and 2 clematis vines that probably wont bloom til next year, no fragrance ;o( but all were half off! yippee!
If I was organized I think I could become dangerous. I tried to organize some things and made it worse. I should never move anything from one place to another because then I'll never find it. Couldn't find glue so instead of pulling my hair out I went and got another tube, someday I'll run across the first one.
I love plumeria, but now my brug is getting first attention. I have a yellow plumeria that is about to bloom. No inflos on the others. We had some freezing weather a couple years ago and I lost a few of them. It's not suppose to freeze in so. Ca.
Kim of Kimarj....hate to read you're under the weather. Drink more ginger tea...that will take away what ails you!
Love ya!
Yup ginger tea good...margarita bad ; {
Hiya Kimbob ^_^
Those are beautiful plumies...my yellow ones finally bloom.
Kim of Kimarj, we just might have to send you Audrey's Bailey's.
Jaye did you see my Montezuma Oriental? Shes' the first that bloomed so far. I forgot now where I posted it. How you been?
