Happy Fourth Everyone!!!
Hi Cordelehaw, how does it feel to be sis with crazy Beck, she is a riot isn't she?
Shhhhh, i have a secret, Santeelady is a real hottie, i saw her pic yesterday with DH and little Christopheer, so cute!
Aunt B, I'm no trouble maker, blame the marbles on someone else, we know who, hee, hee!
So she is not open, and is raining here, so I guess, she might hold untill tomorrow, we'll see guys!
Who bet for today?
Have a nice day and don't eat too much, LOL, Clemen
She's about to... # 4
Happy 4th Hottie Sisters. Oh Deborah here you are too!! I finally got myself some brug babies and they are a full time job--checking on them to see what has happened since I looked an hour ago. lol
Gives new meaning to the word "Addiction".
Clemen, are you implying there is a trouble maker in our midst? Dumb'lil ole me just thought AuntB was actually finding her marbles!!! LOL
Happy 4th!!!! Be safe and be happy : )
Happy 4th of July. Thankfully, we are still free in our country..
Okay, the jokes on me this morning. Remember those ribs I started marinating last night? Well, they were not completely thawed when I put them in the marinade. Surprise, instead of one really thick slab of ribs, I've got 3 slabs!! We will be eating ribs for a month. I sure wish I could get you all here to help eat these.. ::)) That would be fun!
DH is having a good time teasing me about my overcooking... Got to get busy and get everything else ready before company shows up.
Everybody stay safe and enjoy yourselves. Lov ya, Peg
Peg, don't worry I am on my way! Don't feel bad, DD and I were suppose to marinate a chuck roast for today--didn't!! So hotdogs will be our bar-b-que.
Lucky I am blond/grey so it is understandable around here.
Happy 4th.
Clem.... awww you aint no troublemaker... who told you that?? Somebody trying to make you feel bad?? Tell me who.. I'll get 'em for you!!..lol OHHH ain't the bruggy beautiful.. what is that one again.. I gotta get her!! I bet Peg wins.... yay!!!! OHHH... Crazy??? WHO????
Happ... Bonnie will EVER find all HER marbles!!!!!!..hehe
Kimbob.... ohhh she's going to be sooo purty!!
Peg.. I sure wish we lived close... you must have thought they were some mighty big ribs... say from an eleplant.. or something big..LOL another blonde moment?? hehehehe
Marion...LOL I have those blonde moments all the time... along with the grey and dark brown that I cover up!!
TTYL... hottie sis's!!
HAPPY 4th HOTTIES! Deborah, Hi and welcome to the group we have gathered here. I still like your rib post Marion. Those looked perfect! DD has some chicken breasts marinating in red pepper Italian dressing, those may be lunch. It got too hot outside, so I'm taking a break. And nice for you, you are blond/grey, you can use that to cover your confusion... I'm brunette/gray, and Happ, No I haven't found ALL my marbles, but that's okay, it's my excuse. hahaha Oh Clemen, patience my dear. It's so nice DH wants to spend time with you! I know you cherish that man! Thx for the update pic. Kimbob, Apricot Queen, lovely form! So, tell me something..... why do we grow these brugmansia's??? We're ALWAYS w a i t i n g for something!! LOL I do have some hibiscus blooming so that helps while I wait on brugs.
Becky, I think I'M the one callin sweet lil Clemen a trouble maker, WELL not really a TROUBLE maker, but I wondered if her and Peg had a group effort going on both finding my marbles. So, Beck, wanna make sompin of it? (LOLOLOL)
I ain't cut that pipe vine yet, my dear.......lol Oh, Jaye, Love the patriotic brug picture..
Bonnie...OK.. go ahead and blame Peg and lCem for trying to help you find your marbles... but I misposted back up there to Happ...LOL I meant you will NEVER find all your marbles....hehehehe.. YEAH.. I wanna make sUmpim... out of it... wanna fight?? LOL..aww.. don't worry about that vine... I am NOT really a vine person.. and I have 1 dger that is trying hard to get me interested in MG's!!
Happ.. you are the one that asked me about the BP???? Is the white more rare?? I want the orange too!!
Becky, I love ya Sis! No fightin today. ;) I have some MG seed, I could stuff some in with the Pipe Vine cuttings.. (brugs ain't my only addiction)
I'm in for a moment what a wonderful day.
OK, who wanted to BP? The one I will be sending is the orange one. I have lots of those. My white is brand spanking new.
AuntB you said my garden probably look like the tropic's actually it resembles more the jungle. How come some people can take pots and sit them around and they look good. I do it and they look like pots sitting around without a home.
I have been working on the garden room. Hanging stuff on it, planting stuff around it, and waiting for things to dry out so we can pour concrete. DH is such a sweetie, he made me a sign that says Joyces garden room. Course his play house it alot bigger than mine, but at least I have heat!
Back outside
Oh Joyce, I'm glad you're having fun! How sweet of DH. I forgot to dmail somebody allanme about some zingers, so I'm back in here for a bit... ya got lots of orange BP? I need more pots to carry in this fall. lol
Oh Kim the exotic what did you have to post that! I'm starving!!! Totally confused if I want to go to your house, Pegs or Planolinda with all her food. I can't forget Canada for my chocolate chip cookies.
Guess I'll just go talk to my babies on the deck.
Kim, looks grooooovy, baby! YUM! That sweet Joyce, she's been keepin the post office busy.
Well, let's see I have sun tea brewing... PHEW! lol Need to take the pie out of the box and turn the oven on, stir up the beans and I'll be set. I thought about doing the pie from scratch, but the prep time was quicker on Mrs. Smith's pie. Dutch apple, Mmmm, that'll smell good baking. I really think I'm out of here, guys, Peg, I wanna come to your house! or maybe Philly..... Planolinda's is too far. Enjoy!
Marion I love to cook for my peeps ; ) I wish we all could be together and break bread, talk and just have a grand ole time!!!
AuntB does your hibiscus bloom a lot at once?.. I have a lot of buds yet only one or two open at a time.
Oh, I understand completely about the cooking. I wish I had more of mine around to cook for. Do ocassionally for son and family but they are gone this weekend. Before my DH retired we used to have all the single people from the office out for the holidays so I did tons of cooking but just isn't the same now. Besides have moved.
Well, no not really, I have Hot Ross with twins today, they are really just now starting to produce buds. I have a new one, Ruffles that is LOADED with buds, but blooms about 2 a day... The real bushy kind you can get at low's and hd will bloom many at a time, but the named ones seem to stretch out their blooming, I like it for longer enjoyment. I'm anxiously awaiting some blooms on my hibiscus's, too, some old some new.. Flowers sure make us learn patience.. thank goodness we have each other to help get us through it.
Thanks mines ia a noid : ) I feel better now! Yes I am thankful we have each other!!!!
Marion, times change, don't they? I used to cook a lot, pies, cakes, even gardened, canned and froze food. Just no time now, of course I was home with the babies, so I had more time. I do like to cook and bake, but summer is my outside time. My boy (hah, he's a man) is going to culinary school this fall, (heck, summer, classes start 8/16) so I guess he WAS paying attention when I cooked! He's always asked me why I did something a certain way, but he's the only child, that really took interest in getting their hands greasy. My two girls know enough about cooking not to starve, but Drew wanted an active part in making meals. And, I wanted to make sure he could fend for himself, cause I was raised that the Mom does all the cooking, (the dad grills) and I just don't agree with that, course that was a different era, too. lol And he's been doing his own laundry since he was 12.
I've been drooling over my keyboard so have to mop it up.
I lost my painted lady and day dreams cutting. I'm so sad. I think I have saved vixen though, saw some tiny leaves popping up and the rooted bergkonigin seems to be adapting to her new home. I don't think I'm very good with babies anymore, human and plant. ^_^
Hi Bonnie, and all our hotties sistas. lol. Before I show off my brug's bloom for the 4th -- a surprise, let's me share this hibiscus in bloom.....this one used to bloom one at a time, but then I was introduced to hibiscus's fertilizer. Now it flushes, yep having flushes like some mature brugs do. Only it's a NOID, though I though it resembles 'Manifique' hib.
Kimbob
Kim, you visit the Hib forum? I used to, but for a while, I'm not, on purpose (you know what I mean?) lol. I have too many, now. I think I need to trim some to help them bush out more but I can't bring myself to snip the ends, that's where the buds and blooms come from! So once they slow down a bit, I have to find the guts to snip.... I've got it bad with hibs, too, maybe as bad as with brugs..... Naaaa.
Kimbob, bait us! We're waiting with "baited breath"... do post it, quick.
Hi Samigal, sorry you've lost your cuttings. I discovered that the most easy to root brugs' cuttings can't even survive the heat during transit. Bonnie most cuttings you've sent me, only two survived. Maya didn't. I've accepted the lost, so Maya wasn't meant to be. But I'm graceful all the same you've thought of me. But lookie, lookie, see what I've got in bloom?
'Milk & Honey" blossom! The thing sneakes up on me, it's in dappled shade in the evening, so it went ahead and open (didn't wait until evening hours). Here it's. The initial phase of the bloom, here comes the 'Milk' its 'Honey' tone/color will deepen later, maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow.
Kimbob
Hello Hotties!!!
Yes, Becky I was being visited by the insomnia fairy last night...errr morning!! Just wanted to get my holiday wishes in early!! Oh that's a bad excuse...hee hee hee!! Still hot outside upper 90s. I have my two "surprise" brugie babaies on top of my fridge with about 1" of water in the tray underneatch them, is that okay? Or should I be doing something else? I will be getting the Painted Lady brug that I won shortly and want to make sure I'm doing all of this right....
I will take a pic of how I have them set up on my fridge and would appreciate any advice ;o)
~melissa :o)
LOL with you Bonnie, no I haven't visited the hibs. forum. Maybe because I knew my hibiscus capacity. lol.
I'm still looking for some more hardy perennial hibiscus though, such as red Texas Star, Athen For Now ect.
Back to brugs. Here are the 2 blooms on 'Apricot Queen' she isn't shy at all, she went ahead and open her blossoms. lol.
Lily_love your Milk & Honey is beautiful. Amazing how the blossoms can change color. This is my first attempt to raise a brug and I'm always checking on them. I guess I expect them to grow before my eyes. LOL
Beautiful Kimbob!!! I don't have any buds : ( but they sure are growing!! I just want to see a flush in person : ) And yes I check them all the time....lol
Samigal, perhaps the fascination we found with these plants/flowers besides their beatiful shapes, robust in sizes, fragrant and its color changing ability in the early phase of bloom. They're captivating. Likes that of Apricot Queen, her color too will change into a peachy cream color later. Some of the pink bloom, first appears greenish yellow, then turns to white, and finally pink. I love them.
I tried to find the "flush" on my tropical hib. but couldn't. So to substitute pic. with a hardy perennial hib. "Lady Baltimore'. Happy July 4th!
Oh, thanks Kimbob! You DID surprise me! I like the look of Milk and Honey! Let us know about the scent, too! And, Samigal, I'm sorry too, I have a young Day Dreams, maybe I can get a cutting for you this Fall. Kimbob, I have Maya parts rooting, now, tip cuttings and limb cuttings. One is yours, I'll send you one when the weather cools, it IS meant to be for you. You have to have Maya. So sorry the cuttings didn't make it. Now I'm concerned to send any more out... We were talking about it the other day.
Bonnie, you're so caring, and loving. But, I've a young Snowbank that some special lady among our group here surprised me with a few days ago. So keep Maya for someone just started out -- a newbie? I myself will have ton to share when comes time to cut some down in the fall.
Yep, the heat wave is on. I can't complain about the southern garden, since some of us fellow gardeners out West are suffering much worst heat wave out there.
Double bloom - datura's seedpod. I'll have ton of these seeds to share later for those of us that would like to raise some next year.
Samigal, I've been brugging for years and I still check on them all the time and sometimes I think they do grow before my eyes! You're hooked. (I hope I'm not confusing my Kim's) tehe, but Kimbob, I bought a hardy hot pink hib this spring, HUGE blooms.. need to check the tag. Hi Melissa! Having a great day, I hope. I would get the cuttings potted up and outside. Slowly acclimate to sun. Once you notice growth, leaves coming out, start feeding.. Congrats on winning your Painted Lady!
Kimbob, I bought a snowbank this spring. It's care is shade here, such a different brug. So you CAN have both ;) You better think about Maya, I have a brand new sport off her, I could grow out, register and name ifn' I wanted. Are ya sure ya don't want one? ? :)
After seeing all these pictures had to run downstairs to check for blooms!! Nope, just leaves--oh wait, I just got them 2 weeks ago. LOL
Beautiful, beautiful. so funny reading about the hibiscus--here I am in Florida and don't have the first one. Might have to change that soon.
Kimbob Lady Baltimore looks as if she has angel wings! Samigal would you like a noid cutting?? The named ones are too small yet.
AuntB please keep me in mind for Maya..and Kimbob some dat seeds lol ...I been begging all day : )
