Hey guys, I couldn't sleep so here I am at the PC. I DID try and upload a finished 'painting' for 'ken33', tried twice but even after going through the whole process I still didn't have anything uploaded. I contacted D'sG and don't know if they got back to me yet or not. I only have one photo uploaded so far of a Cedar Waxwing. I'm not happy with how it looks but it had been taken at a pretty far distance and I was zoomed pretty much to the max. It had a lot of 'flare' around the edges that I had to remove as much as possible. Anyway, I loaded it at the original res. (can't remember what that was right now) and it uploaded with no probs and is a good size photo on the web site.

Anyway I'll get back here later. Just wanted to let you know I DID try to upload that photo last night. I'll try again after I hear back from the site admin.

Here’s the link for my Cedar Waxwing for anyone who might like to see it. I saved it at 300 res. in PSPPhotoXI and uploaded it at that size. It uploaded to 800 x 1200 pixels…a good size photo for copying. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/847997/#post_5044819

I just now tried again to upload ken33’s painting. It wouldn’t upload. Don’t know what’s up but I think I’ll run ‘Disk Cleanup’ and then try again. Maybe something in there is interfering.

Two possibilities--first would be file format, the only things you can upload here are jpg, gif, and png formats, anything else won't work. Or even if it's the right format, if the file is large a lot of times things will freeze up when you're trying to upload, so you might need to make a downsized version to post here.

Everything I've posted here is mine and you're more than welcome to use it if you like--not sure about how great they are since this is my first digital camera (Sony Cyber-Shot 7.2 mega pixels). I'll have to see about how to remove the watermark.

ecrane3, I know where FAQ’s are on the web site and I’ve looked through them and in other areas where we’re given info about how the site is run, etc. But I can’t seem to find where the acceptable formats for uploading are. Would you please put a link to that page here (or just give me directions to get there ;o)? I’d really appreciate that.

dmac085, thanks for your permission. Yes please…it is much easier to work on a photo if there isn’t a watermark, etc. on it. Though I can get rid of them (as I did with the copyright info on ken33’s photo) it’s much easier NOT to have to deal with them. And an actual watermark can be a lot more work to erase than a block of text. But why not just wait until I find a photo of yours to work with and if I do I can let you know whether or not I think it would be a problem for me to ‘erase’ it. There’s no reason for you to worry about that unLESS I’m going to use one of your photos (unless you just want to do that anyway ;o).

Here's a link to a finished ‘painting’ that ken33 gave me permission to use if you’d like to see it. I haven’t heard from him as of yet so I assume he doesn’t know it’s done. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=5352411

slcdms, I just looked through your Daylilies and all I can say is they are GORGEOUS! My goodness, you have such a beautiful collection. I wanted to see the photos you've posted in the threads you started but as of yet I'm not a subscriber so couldn't open them. Very frustrating to say the least! I may just have to do something about that......like subscribe soon....... ;o)

I just disabled the watermark:) I don't really mind if anyone uses the photos I post here...I don't have any real use for them other than I wanted a picture of something I had grown:lol:

Grammy--the formats that are allowed are gif, jpg, and png. I don't know if it's listed anywhere in the FAQ's (it would most likely be in the Plant Files one if it's there because that's where the most pictures were being uploaded originally when the site started), but if you want to see it for yourself just try to upload something other than a picture and you'll an error message telling you what file formats are allowed. If you're not seeing that error message telling you what the proper file formats are, then that's not what your problem is. I suspect it's the file size, I've seen a lot of other people post saying that they have trouble with things freezing up when they're sending large files, and I've had it happen to me, sometimes it will freeze and then other times it will go through. But if you want a sure thing, I'd try making a downsized version and upload that. Or I suppose it could be both file size and file type that are the problem but if the system keeps freezing up when it's uploading you never get to the screen that tells you it's the wrong format. I'd still try downsizing it first, then it'll either upload fine or else you'll get the file format message and then you know you need to go back and save it differently (every photo program in the world ought to have an option to save/export as a jpg file)

Thanks for the compliments on the daylilies, Grammie, I do love my daylilies. Yes, you should join Daves, you miss out on a lot not being able to look around on all the forums.
