Gotta be something around Lake Tyler where we can do this...
"eyes"
Hello Eyes, we had already picked October 18th for the Arlington swap,
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/812775/
I am afraid we might have a conflict, what to do?
Josephine.
eyes do you realize how crazy it gets around the rose garden area at the time of the rose festival? lol
I was just out at the Tyler State park a week ago friday and they have pavilions that are covered with parking right by them so I was thinking of calling and finding out if there was a price to do something out there or not.
But only checking have to talk to DDeTex and see what he thinks yet too as we want it to be easy to get to for anyone wanting to come.
Oct is 3 months away so we have a lil time yet
Let's figure out a day right now so we can start planning. I think we were going to look for a different venue this time, right? The Tyler State Park looks wonderful!
Does anyone have a specific day in October that they think would be best? Let's figure this out and start planning.
I'm open for any weekend right now Dave...just thought the Rose Festival would be a great side trip...the first to middle of the month should be better for weather...
"eyes"
I would tend to agree, but I also don't want to step on any toes of anybody also having a roundup in other parts of the state. I do think having it the same time as the Tyler Rose Festival would be nice for those who want to go, but I do have some concerns about traffic.
My own thought here is that different regions aren't conflicting with each other. The point of a regional roundup is for people who are in that region. East Texas having their roundup on the same day as DFW or Houston or Iowa doesn't seem like a problem to me.
But, maybe others feel strongly about it?
mmm what about maybe one of the Saturdays say the 11th or the 25th that way we aren't conflicting with the Arlington one as I know there are a couple people that want to be able to do both of them.
Yes. I agree there also, the main damper on some is the fuel prices..., sometimes folks have to stay closer to home..like I said the first weekend is fine with me too...can always go to the rose museum other than parade day...
"eyes"
So, how about October 11th?
that is fine by me and I just called the park and we could rent a Group Picnic Pavilion (capacity 75):
$50 per day
and then it would be
* $3 per day, per person 13 and older
Special entrance rates for:
* Holders of:
o Texas State Parks Pass.
o Youth Group Annual Entrance Permit.
o Texas Parklands Passport (Bluebonnet Pass)
* Children 12 and under (free)
http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/parks/tyler/fee.phtml
BUT IT IS JUST AN IDEA
The 11th does sound like a good date, no conflicts with other Texans that might want to attend both RU's, and the Tyler State Park area sounds terrific! The area is beautiful and shaded pavillions too. I think their rental fee of $50.00 sounds reasonable, and I'm sure that no DG'r would object to the $3.00 fee for a nice, private place to hold the trades. How would we go about the rental fee, donations?
I think if each person who came kicked in just a couple bucks each, we'd have enough to cover the $50. It looks like the $3 per person charge comes in at the entrance to the park, so that would obviously be covered by each person as they come.
That sounds great ya'll... have to check if they have camper hook ups.. cause we are pulling the camper this time... I am just excited to see all of you again! Anything ya'll come up with will be fine with me.. except the same weekend as Josephines.. I already commited myself there.. Pa lease.. don't make an ol girl cry...hehe
Becky
yes the $3 is for each person at the "gate" and as for the rental we would have to call and reserve it.
I just spoke with the reservations gal and she said it is open that weekend for the $50 pavilion and to make the reservation we would have 5 days to get the payment to them since it would be more then 60 days before hand if it is less then you make payment the day you make the reservation.
We would be able to have 30 cars in the parking area at the spot and there is more parking within 100 feet of the place she said.
I realize it isn't free like love's lookout was but this would give us a spot just for us and we would have as long as we wanted for the day.
there is a lake for swimming but there are no lifeguards, there is a playground over towards the gift shoppe boat rental area as they have paddle boats and canoes you can rent and if I recall it is $10 for an hour .....thinking of anyone with older kids that would want something to do...parent permitting
Yes Becky there is camping there full hook up too I think ...check the link I posted above you can find the link in there
trails to walk and of course native, natural plants and trees to see *S*
Again I am just sharing the info I am not picking the final place

A park for camping and all that other stuff sure makes it an enticing get away in the fall for us "out-of-towner's=)
Works for me....what say folks....the 11th??
"eyes"
the later, the cooler, the better
=)
*giggles* dang I'm busted in my thinking then :-)
I had thought of those that came from further away last time and drive to and from on the same day and how nice it would be to not have to drive like that in one day.
Oh and if we were to do it at the park then the pavilion I asked about would be #3 if you look at the map of the park
and these camp site areas are the closet to it
Campsites with sewer, electric and water hook-ups:
$18 per night (Big Pine - RV only - no tents)
$20 per night for Premium Multi-use (tents allowed) in the Lake View Area
If this is where we do it.
Wow, you know, I just looooove Tyler State Park. I might even be able to talk DH into going camping that weekend.
Beck, it's been years since I was there, but even when I was a kid, they had full trailer hookups. Also a fun fishing lake and lots of other stuff to do.
Glad we aren't meeting on the 18th, I'll be in Fredricksburg that week-end for the Texas Gourd Fall Festival. It would have been ashamed if the two things I'm looking forward to this Fall came on the same week-end.
so did we finally agree on the 11th? or are we still asking?
the 11th or the 25th???
and would the Tyler State park work as the place to have it ?
The 11th sounds good to me Phyllis, and the state park is a great idea. Thank you for taking the effort to call and find out the information for this RU, especially in light of all that you did for the last one. You just tell us what you want us to do and this time we will share the burden of organization more. {{{{hugs}}}}}
Any date will be fine with me.. gonna be there with bells on!! As soon as I know I will check into the camping spots.. I am in need of a lil R&R..if I can wait that long..LOL
Becky
This looks like a good plan to me. Hope it will be cooler by then. I think that the 11th is Texas-OU weekend so hope someone will bring a TV. ( I know that is nothing to some of you gals ).
Better get some rain soon and start potting up some things. Hope to get to talk to more folks this time. Also we will need more folks supervise the different areas if we do all that we did at the last RU. I will be an ol' pro now that I have been to one.
D
I got a 13 inch color set, I'll bring for you and DH....DDeTex...now let's get this thing nailed down!!
"eyes"
Any date but the 18th works for me and Tyler State Park sounds great. I do like the sound of that up close parking.
No wonder I was confused on the date....From Maggimoo's sticky...

Crash you may my dear. I got in there and cleaned up that bedroom last week. This will give me a good reason to not let it get messy again.

Sounds good to me - the 11th at Tyler State Park. I should be able to pull off both the Arlington and Tyler roundup.
Robert and I are hoping to make both RU's as well. Since we live smack dab in the middle of Texas, we have DG friends in several regions. It will be good to see everyone again!
Off topic: Jacksonville is where my first child was born forty years ago. I would like to see if I can find where my first husband and I lived. We rented the guest house at the Keesler place, a short distance from town. I know the older couple would have been gone a long time ago, so someone with a different name probably owns it now.
Patricia
Sooo Tyler the 11th and Arlington 18th? I have always wanted to visit Tyler.:) Count me in, I will be at both places.

yes Sylvia that is correct
Ya'll are on the ball. Since I'll come with Pam, I'm for the 11th.
I just hope she'll let me ride inside the car this time. It got hot on the top of the Suv.!!! I was fried, but the plants were fine!
I wanna see ya on top of the SUV this time LOL
