From pod,

Quoting:
Thank you Sweezel!!!

Beautiful Texas sage, Bronc! I love it far more than it loves the east TX area. Texas betony is lovely too, Charlene...

For some reason, I'm drawn to all things "Texas"!

I do! I have some small ones that are hopefully going to deliver white blooms. Looking forward to them!

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

Hmmm...bet Ralphster doesn't need to employ any relaxation tecniques!
Wish my larger hibiscus would bloom...it's a difficult year, some plants just went on strike. Maybe with the rain we've gotten (finally!) more will bloom! Lovely phlox, Charlene! There's something about white flowers.

LOL Cute Doggie and kittie bellies. I see now that my Susie Dog is not alone. Rusty, my golden retriever, has never done that so I usually think it's funny when Susie does it. Especially if her eyes are open and she's just watching me (upside down) while laying back as still as can be. Rusty just digs holes outside or lies on the marble tile in front of the fireplace to get cool.

Charlene, I know you were trying to identify a plant as Texas Betony recently, but I am pretty sure that pic is not of Texas Betony. It actually looks like it may be Salvia Coccinea http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/639/.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Sweeze, Josephine came to my place when we had the Buffalo RU. She said it was definitely Texas Betony. I gave her one to take home with her. Heck, I don't know for sure, I may have some of both. LOL As long as the hummers like 'em I guess it doesn't matter anyway. I do wish I were positive though.

Placenciarita, I love the photo of the squirrel in the begonias. Your place looks very relaxing and cool. I have no shade, so I am a little envious of your cool shade. I have just gotten a purple vitex and can hardly wait for it to fill out and bloom.

The plants are all a bit off this year, so it will probably be next year before mine gets going.

Red Oak, TX

Thank you Charlene, I also have a light pink vitex which you can see blooming behind the purple one in the above picture. I love those trees.

Podster, I am sorry that I could not get a picture of the white hibiscus, the bud fell off. It could be from me checking on it , or it being too dry. Maybe next week.

Broncbuster, I realy like your picture of the birdseed sunflower, with the chicken on one side and a cow on the other.

TJ, your Gaillardia looks fabulous. Mine looked good all last year and this spring, but seems to have upped and died on me recently. I'm not sure why. Everything around it is healthy and thriving. I agree with you on the Frogfruit, too. Are you prepared to start actively cutting it back?

My Elliott wants to join the Belly Up Club. :-)

Carla

Carla, I have it in two places. (Did have it in two places) The one that was all out in the open with lots of room got mildew or some kind of fungus and just fell over. We pulled it up and put it in a plastic bag to harvest the seeds later. The other is crowded and is doing fine.

Christi

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks Carla! Do you have mulch around them? What species are yours? Last year mine kinda teetered out with the onset of summer, but they were not mulched. These are mulched about 3-4 inches thick. Also, I've noticed most of the native Gaillardia have quit blooming already. These are arista, a non- Texas native that get taller with larger blooms. The bumble bees love them!

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

TJ, mine are the native (I don't recall the name, though) and they are mulched. Everything else around them is healthy and happy (Zinnias, Yellow Texas Primrose, Verbena, Coneflowers, Jethro Tull Coreopsis). So maybe it's just that they're done blooming and will now go somewhat dormant?

Christi, I haven't seen any mildew on them. But I'll look a bit more closely when I get home tonight.

Mimi825 ~ I love your yellows, especially the BOP. Do you overwinter it indoors?

Loonie ~ Elliotts' companion thinks he has lost his everlovin' mind! LOL

Pretty blooms everyone!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I noticed that the Blanket Flowers out at our church property have quit blooming, so maybe they're done for now. They're the very native variety. LOL
