She's about to....#3

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Ha ha ha too late Annie!!!!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Gone2seed that IS a lovely bloom, nice form, wish we could all smell it! Caren, If I didn't say this earlier, CONGRATS on your Puppy Love, how exciting, those twangers!!!! look how l o n g they are! It's pretty, I'd love to see more pics of it's blooms too! Kim, I thought you HAD brugs like PV, you will.. Linda Kay, growing brugs tests your patience level, it can even teach you patience. You need more brugs, something to help keep you occupied while you wait. I know it's agonizing sometimes. You can do it. Some brugs are more tolerant of their environment. A Snowbank is variegated and it is happy for me under a Maple tree, no direct sun. (It is new and has never bloomed, yet) My variegated Maya loves the sun and heat, she drinks and eats a lot, but is very tough and rewards me with flush after flush all growing season and in the basement in winter. Do you know what kind your plant is? You ARE going to see blooms, are you feeding? It's in the ground? Clemen, congrats on your NEW Charles G!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

AuntB last summer was my first time : ) remember RED : ) I did get some cuttings in the fall...some made it...others are in brug heaven:(

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

My brug is a Insignis pink, I got from JanLynn. Thank you JanLynn! It is a y cutting, and the new sprouts are about 3 inches tall. I have only had it since the 9th of this month. I had it in water the first week, and last week I placed it in soil, in a large pot and it just took off... I was so surprised to see the shoots pop up so quickly!

Looking at the picture, is it normal for the main plant to be turning brown? Looks like it is drying up?

So if anyone has any cuttings just laying around, I will gladly send you postage. I wish I had something to trade, but this is new to me.

Thanks for all the advise.

Ah, taters (cute), let me see what I can find around here for ya. Insignis Pink, great! You WILL see blooms this season! And you live in TX, I'm not sure but you can probably grow them year round in zone 9! Insignis Pink is a great hardy plant and it will flush this summer, I bet! JanLynn? Whadda you think? You should feed and water it and you will keep being amazed at it's growth rate! It is normal for the "old" part to wither, it has done it's duty by giving life to it's species. Once it's really dry, you can tug on it and see if it comes off easily. Oh, Kim. ya, but I thought you had a big ol flush on something yellow. Maybe it was another Kim, ;) (It's getting late, I get confused, remember?lol)

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

taters this is new to me too but I sure do want to get on this excitement train.
Aunt B, thanks for the advise, I'll check tomorrow about the new cuttings. (I hope, I hope) That plant is beautiful, wonder if it would live in Henderson, NC. Sure would love to see one like it next to the fence in my back yard.
Faye

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

I can see the eyes batting now...yep, there's no turning back) lol Faye, let me see if I can find something for you.. I found a little something for Linda Kay... you guys know I'm an old softie!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Lets say hottie softie, AuntB, Clemen

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Clemen, you have 2 plants in bud(s), right? They will be your first blooms? That has GOT to be so EXCITING! (I probably should get off the puter, it's starting to storm pretty bad, lots of wind... might have more cuttings than I think!! Yikes!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I just got some seeds, and hopefully more in the near future, so if any of them take off, I will be more than happy to trade with anyone in need. I think there are Monster white.
I also bought some off ebay, but I learned my lesson there, they came in an envelope, wrapped in a wet paper towel. When I opened it up, they were all flat, and a fine mold growing on them, so I don't think they will make it.
Live and learn I guess. Thanks for all the help. You are all true friends indeed.
Thank you again.
Good night

I bet we could get some things done if I come down there! 2 old Hotties, together???? Look out Colmesneil! (well, at least Becky's garden!) hehe So now, girls. Who NEEEEEEEDs cuttings or plants.. Everyone HAS to have more than 1 brug, you'lll never make it with just 1 brug to kroon over. Beck, You MUST be more patient. I could send you part of the white one Happ gave me.. Linda Kay? You have a giant white, correct? Cause I'm fixin to send it to Beck... You have to be careful ordering brugs on Ebay... the cuttings you got were obviously not packed or shipped correctly,... with even first class USPS, there wouldn't be time for mold to start growing... I bet they layed around for days before being taken for shipment... or they were bad cuttings to begin with. here's a pic... of that happy giant white.. see the small plant in front at the bottom? I can snip it away from the original cutting. (neo-natal/icu to the right of Giant White (Joyce, I call it Joyce, now..) Joyce, did you have a piece of cake for me? Beck, drink lots of water out there! Clemen, it really doesn't matter cause each bloom is as exciting as the first to me. So, if this giant white really does have GIANT white blooms, how long is it gonna take to see them??? The little buds are soo small right now... (learning patience, learning patience) Joyce how big are the buds on the GW you kept? How long do we gotta wait? You can see a bud in the pic, on the tall part on the right side...

Sorry, I looked around for the round up, but not for sure where to find it. If someone has a link can you point me in the right direction. I would like to read what it is about?

Looks like it may be another 3 - 4 days for it to open?
Thanks
Linda Kay

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have one Insignis pink from JanLynn, and I have one Monster white coming soon.
It is the seeds I got from ebay, that arrived all wet, flat and moldy. I also found out that the seeds I ordered from ebay, were not angel trumpes, they were double purple devils trumpes. The person selling them, just does not know what they are doing.

I learned my lesson.

Annie, that looks like it's about to open, so cute, how about those hens and chicks in the background, nice and the blue pot, I collect blue pots, one of my favorite colors! Clemen

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

NOL, 3 days, tops. (just guessing) LOL, Patience or lack of isn't geographical, probably is hereditary, I think it depends on which side of the brug bloom your're on.. the before side, I have very little if any patience at all, when the bloom is over, I suddenly have "gained" the ability to be more patience.. I'm still staying with we just need many many brugs to keep us occupied. I have many brugs, for me.. I dared count and let's just leave it at more than 20. Some are the same, some are my old daddy & mom plants, some yet too small to bloom, a plethora of brugdom. Same with tropical hibiscus... I'm addicted my fellow HOTTIES......., there is no 12 step program I'm touching with a 12 ft brug trunk! lol But in order to salvage "some" form of sanity, I'm forced to keep my inventories up on tropical plants that aren't hardy in my growing zone. I'm an active ol lady (hottie) I need a lot of horticultural stimulation... I live to play in the dirt and summer blooms... Soon, the forum will be buzzing with everyone's bloom pics.. lazy, hazey, crazy dayz of summer.... hmm hmmm hmmm - I'm outta here, early today... WeekEnd Goal: Organize and clean up garden sitting area, takes some pics, box up some brugs. (I've been trying to do too many things, and nothings getting accomplished.. so, my list has been drastically shortened for this weekend, I feel better already! Later, sis's, I'll have to check in and catch the buzz later! -Bonnie

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

AuntB, are those your marbles on the deck railing? Did I leave my marbles with you cause I know I have lost them somewhere....LOL
MW bloom is a long time off. I first saw a bud on Dec. 16 and wasn't sure what it was.
It finally bloomed around Feb. 13. so it took 2 months. I had blooms all over, the picture shows only about 3 from one spot. I couldn't get them all in the picture.
The blooms were 7 inches long and 6 inches wide. The brug wasn't even a year old at that point.
I don't even know if that is considered a big bloom or not. I am lucky it even bloom because I was gone and the poor brug wilted something awful, and then stupid spider mites appeared!!

Here is a picture of it back in Feb 2008.

I have buds appearing again on the same plant.
I too can take cutting from the MW, I just want to wait until after she blooms.
AuntB, looking at the old post the other brug you gave me was Pink Beauty. Does that sound familiar? Don't know about the one we got at Arnolds, I don't have him in the sun at all. He seems to be growing but sure doesn't like the sun from what I can tell.

Hey hottie Sis' it took me an hour of reading just to catch up. I have been busy like crazy around here... and I received multiple brug cuttings in the mail. As soon as they fully revive I will post a family picture (no, not me and DH) the brugs!! I am officially a bruggie mama now!!

also had a shipment of hostas come in that the heat had really hurt them, so am babying them.

Then, I went to a coworker's funeral yesterday, sigh, and while I was there, got a page from another coworker that she was in the delivery room. First time ever, I went straight from a funeral to a delivery. Gives you some perspective...

Clem, another brug!! Congrats!

Happy BD Happgarden...

Annie, that Sanguina is too hot... What a beautiful bloom.

AuntB, I have a list this weekend too, and is it loooonnnng...I am green-eyed jealous of your garden set. I bought one set and promptly sold it at a garage sale because I got tired of chasing it down when the wind got up above 5 mph. Hmmm, may have to add antique shops to my list this weekend.

Beck, Happy RU and hope the MRI is okay.

Okay, where's Audrey? Did she run off with her beau without telling us? Sometimes, it takes us a while to get the right one and I think she did. :))

Linda, Fay and Cathy, you're hooked. Come on, admit it. :)

I am just waiting to see this site get flooded with buds and blooms pictures. I just know it is going to happen.

Happy Friday, all. Peg

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

happgarden what beautiful blooms. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like they are tempramental, and bloom when and if they feel like it?
