Audrey, you are both so fortunate to find each other after all these years.
My ex and Kel have one thing in common physically---they're both semi bald. :D
**SWEET INTERRUPTION**
Found this...
CHOCOLATE KAHLUA CAKE
1 chocolate cake mix Pillsbury Plus
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1 box instant chocolate pudding
4 eggs
3/4 c. strong instant coffee (made with 2 tsp. coffee with 1 c. water; cool before adding)
3/4 c. creme de cacao or Kahlua or coffee liqueur
1 c. sifted powdered sugar
2 tbsp. cooled coffee
4 tbsp. creme de cacao, Kahlua or coffee liqueur
Combine first 6 ingredients and beat for 4 minutes. Grease and flour a tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick which must come out clean. Cool.
Combine the following in a small bowl: 1 cup sifted powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons cooled coffee, 4 tablespoons creme de cacao, Kahlua or coffee liqueur; mix well.
Use a short skewer to poke holes in top of cake and let this mixture drip in. It is not a glaze. Dust with confectioners' sugar for an attractive finish. Serve with your favorite ice cream. A chocolate lover's delight!
Sounds delicious! Hope I can find this if I ever want to try it!
Paste and copy it, Audrey. Or tag the page. See that little yellow folder on the upper left hand corner..click on it, tag the page, rename to what you want, and you'll be able to find it whenever you need it.
I meant upper right hand corner, Audrey!
Deborah, would you believe I had my first taste of moonshine in Singapore in the late 70's. Someone smuggled in a bottle of corn moonshine from Mississippi, about 140 proof!! It was soooooooooo smoooooooooooooth...
Smoother than Royal Salute, 21 year old single Scotch.
OK, I did that, now how do I find it when I need it?
Audrey, your info on your home page will give you a list of your tags. I may not have explained that just right. Click on "my Info" tab to see your tags. That's better. lol
How come the conversation always turns to liquor? HUH?
Does anybody know what Dr. Red Duke looks like? Well, my DH could be his double... I wouldn't say he's homely.. but not the hunk most women go for. But he's my hunk...
We cross posted BJ.
Your Don isn't homely---he's charming!!!
Thank you Jaye... I think so.
Rainbow Dreams, my friends.
Hey everybody. I need a double shot of Baileys tonite, have a bad wisdom tooth and it decided to wake up today. I think I'm just going to try and hit the hay, and try to make it to the dentist tomorrow. Hope everybody is doing well!
Swish your mouth with Vodka. Let the vodka soak in your gums...that will work!
BJ, I think i've seen actual pics you've had on somewhere of you and hubby! He's cute! And Kel's a teddybear!
Oh my, I think Dr.Red Duke is a Texas thing, I have not heard of him for years... he used to be on the morning talk shows. What happened to him, Is he still around?
T.G.I.F.
Hope everyone has a super day, and a better week-end.
Take care
Linda Kay
I don't know what ever happened to Dr Duke... but when I lived in Houston he was on the Morning Show... was one of those "For your Health" segments. He was such a character.
When I met my hubby, I had to do a double take... I just knew I recognized him from somewhere... took me weeks to figure out who he reminded me of.
No, Audrey, I haven't ever put up a pic of hubby on the net. You might have seen a pic of me and my granddaughter at her graduation. My hubby works in public broadcasting and can be in the public eye at times, so I really shouldn't do that to him.
Well, good morning to everyone in cyber land. Hubby goes back to work today, so things should get back to normal around here a bit...
Oh, My Jaye... Kel looks like a real sweety... such a kind face he has. Yep, a cuddle bear, indeed.
Good morning!
My nephew and nieces love Kel to death, Audrey! He makes a great dad--always promoting whatever good things they are interested in.
I'm only 5' 2"..so he's my gentle giant ^_^
Seen Dr. Red Duke on Louisiana's tv. stations. Not around here. Wonder if he's still around.
Don't work too hard in the heat Linda K.
Just looked him up... Dr Red Duke is now the Attending Surgeon, Harris County Hospital District, Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital, Houston, Texas. 1990-present. I think he'd be pretty old by now, so he might have retired since that article was written.
BJ, you strike it right! He is very kind!
He'll not think twice to help a neighbour or even here on DG. When he knows for sure, that our waiter/waitress is in college, his tips are never meager. They say a fool and his money will soon part? I don't think so...with him, it's given for good cause, and from his heart. And it never fails, each time he does so, God returns blessings!
Think I've written this before, he is also taking care of his dad. Before this, his older brother who's bedridden at home with brain cancer for 7 years. 1 year after Leslie meet our Lord, his father caught a bad stroke. His eldest brother who's a banker shirked off all familial responsibilities. That's why we can't go anywhere for more than 5 hours -- just in case. His mother had dismissed so many help -- she's truly mentally challenged (to put it mildly).
Wow!! I was at the LBJ hospital couple of years back accompanying a gf who's undergoing cancer treatments.
If I had known that, I'd be looking out for him!
You're one lucky woman Jaye. You have a true gem.
Don's a big tipper too, but for a different reason. The business we used to own included a restaurant, and we both know now just how hard wait staff works... his tips have gotten bigger and he's gotten a lot more tolerant in restaurants since then.
Don's compassion has spilled over to my kids in the last few years. He bought my youngest son a house this year because the son has proven himself capable to take care of himself. He was in a serious car accident 5 years ago, right after we met. The accident left my son with some physical and mental handicaps, but has proven that he's capable of his day to day care. Don still drops by there to see if he needs anything when he's passing by there. He's always ready to help the other two sons as well, but they don't need as much. My kids think he's next to God. His own kids ignore him somewhat, and I really don't understand that... well, I do too.. but that's another story altogether... they're missing so much... and he's missing them too, but he doesn't complain.
BJ, reading this gives me the warm fuzzies. You have a saint!
I'll make sure Kel reads this, so he knows he's not the only 'strange' one!
He had so many cousins telling him to 'cut the ties'...do like the eldest did..cause they know it's a 24/7 thing with his parents, and also financially, he's supporting them too. Not Kel, he loves his Dad too much to do that. And I know Kel will do the same for my family.
Okay, off to check the garden for a hail report. Mulch some with the compost bought, and maybe a nice Mexican lunch later :D
You tell Kel... that all the Kels and Dons in the world will be rewarded well in heaven...
You've got that right, BJ. Sniff Sniff, y'all are making me teary-eyed. I'm so proud to hear you both have husbands who care for others. Reminds me of a serious side of Erma Bombeck when she said,
"When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me." Erma Louise Bombeck
Good one Deborah...
:~( no word on package received, huh? oh well....
Heavenscape, if your off for a mexican lunch, be good with the margaritas! LOL
Hope everyone has a great friday.
Linda Kay
No, BJ, this was a picture of you with a man, I think you were doing something like unloading a truck! Might b wrong!
Ummm... ya know... you might be thinking about he pic of our house... in the before picture you can get a glimpse of him on the side of the house, with the pickup truck in the background.
That might be it!
Linda, we had Carnitas and unsweetened tea. They make the best carnitas.
Thanks BJ. That's what we believe too. Heaven is waiting for us! ^_^
That's a good one Deborah. Why wait to do the the right thing..it's God's using us for our own good, actually. That's another chapter! :D
Bonjon, I had dmailed her. Hopefully she'd say something or at least let us know she's okay.
Hail did some damage to some brugs. There will be a few NO IDs as the winds blew those flimsy tags off.
Lesson learnt--when you want quality--you got to pay quality price!!
OH, well... quality isn't always better.
Yah, you're right! Some of the higher end priced stuffs are shoddy.
WOW... it's 96 out there... I'm working 15 mins, taking 30 minute breaks... sheesh, can't get anything done like that. BUT hey, we're suppose to have a cold front come through... gonna get down to 88 Monday with chance of thunderstorms... YIPPIE... I think I'll work in the rain.
That's the attitude BJ! Kel thinks I'm crazy working in the rain. I actually enjoy it and never caught a cold.
But, then, God does create rain, so we can do housework, right?
Well, Jaye... if you're right, I'm way mis-using his blessing of rain. I thought he brought rain to give me a rest day. But, hey... I've been wrong before.
Audrey !!! Where are you? Haven't heard from you lately here !!! I'm gonna need you to restrain me soon...
BJ,
Heres the bottle of Bailey's, Take a break, you and hubby have a sip and relax. Sounds like you need it.
Linda Kay
