Chat away...laugh along...vent if you must...but no heavy politics please.
Please forgive the drapes..Johnny Depp had been practising on them;)

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

(jax) Dundalk, MD(Zone 7a)

I followed the smell of Bailey's and look what I found!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Marion...tsk! tsk!
We need you sober to continue your search for the 'hunk'. Don't leave Disney without him!

Joey in Conroe, TX(Zone 8b)

Maybe if she uses rum for bait....

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Jaxxxxxxxxxx!!! I can't believe you are still upright!!! You'd be normally royally slushed by this time :P

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Whew... I almost went in the wrong door... smelled a whiff of Peach Tea, and thought you were there. Then I remembered we switched to Baileys... sheesh...

But, I think I'm tired... and DH is already in bed... probably already asleep... so, I think I'll join him. Thanks for the nice room Jaye...

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh don't I wish!!!! I might just have to leave without him this time. Sob, sob but there is always a good chance I won't. Stay tuned to find out if I do or don't..........

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Guess we might have to ask Joey' to use her telekinesis power, and make The Hunk materialize for you tonight, Marion.

(jax) Dundalk, MD(Zone 7a)

I'm looking for a nite-cap! Baileys and .......................?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Maybe Bailey's and ice cold milk....oops, I'm telling ain't I?
See y'all in the morning. It's been a long day, but a fruitful one.

Girl, you got a good imagination!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hi Audrey!!
You just got to make that Bailey's cheesecake and let us know how it turns out ^_^

Wish I had not a big yard to attend to, but I do! So, we just got back from getting more bags of compost, you know what that means? Yup, more back breaking work, but it's all worth it, when you see all those big blooms.
And the weather of course is brutal today. After the rains, I'll be accompanied by hungry mosquitoes.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

OOooo... Bailey's cheesecake sounds good... who's got the recipe?

Jaye... we wen't out to work this morn when it was 78 degrees... got to be 96 and still climbing, and we're still hard at it. The sprinklers went off this morn at daybreak, and we had to quit for a while, and turn the sprinklers back on cause it's already too dry to dig.
Tomorrow, I get to go get more compost... DH will be back at work, so I'll have to lift them myself, but he's doing the most back breaking part today, so I can't complain.

DRINK lots of water girls...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

BJ, there's no water in this house :(
Pump went out! Kel got to close the shop early so he can take care of it. He tried priming the pump, but it doesn't work, so he's off to the hardware store.
In this one mule town (chorus :D) , we can't find anyone that could come right away. Got to do almost everything ourselves.
Got some rain water that's stored in barrels, and I had been water the potted plants with that.
Will post that cheesecake recipe here..once I find it.
Hey!!! I hear thunder!!! Maybe I can bathe in the rain :D

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

BAILEY'S MARBLED CHEESECAKE
Crust:
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1 package graham crackers, ground to crumbs in food processor
Combine butter, sugar and cocoa powder. Stir in crumbs. Press evenly over bottom of greased 9-inch springform pan and bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Cool pan and grease sides.
Filling:
3 8-ounce packages cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup sugar
3 eggs
3/4 cup Bailey's Irish Cream
2 squares (2 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate, melted
Beat cream cheese until smooth. Gradually beat in sugar. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Blend in Bailey's. Pour about 1/3 mixture into a bowl and stir in melted chocolate.
Pour half of plain mixture into prepared pan. Drizzle with half the chocolate mixture. Repeat layers. Make a marbled design by gently swirling batter with a knife.
Bake 10 minutes at 450, then 55 minutes at 250 or until cake tests done.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

That sounds like some fine eatin'! I love reading recipes. Sending that one over to my recipe blog. It will be the first on in it. HAHAHA

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Oooooh! Bailey's cheesecake!!Mmmmmmmmmm!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm gonna try that!! Now what do I need???!!! You know you can buy ready made crust!!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I used to have a receipe for kahlua pie, but I lost it!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Audrey, don't drink all the Bailey's, leave some for the cheesecake!!!
Now Deborah, I know better than that. I bet you're a great cook.
Bonjon posted some mahhhhveloussss stuffs on her great man in the RWB.
Care to brag on your guys, here. Kel needs some pointers!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh boy does that cake sound good, I will go get the ingredients this week-end.

How is everyone doing through all this heat. It is so hot hear, and no rain in site. Can you say HOT!!!

Thanks for the gossip room. we needed a room for just talking and venting, and sharing recipes.
How about sharing what we like and dislike? What do you collect, what do you like in your garden?

I love hummingbirds, brugs, wish I had more. I like angels, and birds...
Does anyone know how and when to seperate canna bulbs?

Have a great afternoon, and be good.
Linda Kay

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yayyyy....Kel fixed the pump!! Just in time, and it's hailing out there! My poor brugs :*( Praying none will be damaged!

Linda, you can separate cannas anytime actually. They're pretty hardy!

My list of likes will be shorter than dislikes!
For starters, I like myself, am very content in my own skin...all the phat, pholds and wrinkles!!

HEAVEN says I should copy this here - copy and past time - (in response to her comment on ex getting 5 year restraining order)

ROTFL - it was his 2nd ex that got a 5 year restraining order. I didn't wait for a judge - I knew he didn't like to travel, so put 3,000 miles between us starting 30 mins. after signing divorce papers! This girl doesn't wait for legalities.

Things DH does for me:
says things like - "where do you want the next hole dug, honey?"

gave me a giant "gift certificate" for irises to Tempo Two - when it turned out it was too late that year to order, he sent me on an iris "odyssey" touring iris growers.

when I've had a hard day, in winter he brings a cup of tea to me, in summer, it's a wine cooler.

insisted we buy a place near my folks so we could better take care of them (I wanted to next county for more land)

is so well thought of by my folks I think they'd trade me for him (not so the first H - they'd leave the room!)

when I got engaged, all my girlfriends asked, "does he have a brother?"

loves my older two children as his own

found out I wanted tall garden markers for mothers day, 50 would be nice. he ordered 200

thinks I don't spend enough on clothes (I dont) and suggests I go buy something pretty
thinks I spend too much on plants (I do) and never says a word

puts up with a dirty house during plant season

has an angel of a mom who likes me

after 17 years, checks me out every time I pass by

proposes marriage to me every day.

I'm really lurking to see what is delivered today...

did I mention he sings silly little ditties to me like,
"I'm in love with Bonnie
Bonnie tolerates me."

He's got a great singing voice, doesn't do it enough.

and he's a punster - with him around you have to laugh

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ha! You found us!
Bonjon, he is definitely one in a million!

I read somewhere how Susan's MIL moved in with her when she moved out of the house, temporarily! That's hilarious! Great when MILs look up to their daughters in law...lucky y'all are...including you BJ!

someone gave me pointers on cannas for the RU - let me go find those and do a cut and paste.
'
editting

OK - this is from Jody, a DGer that hosted a RU June 7th. She has many hostas and greenhouses, etc.

"On the canna... I have divided a many of them, and I would say that if it is growing already either you should wait until fall or be very careful. Once you get it out of the soil and can see the tubers it's very easy and almost obvious where you can divide them. As long as each tuber has at least 2-3 "eyes" growing tips you're good. It's much easier in the fall when they are going/gone dormant and you don't have to worry about breaking any growing tips though. "

When I divided my Stuttgart, I used a lifting fork (short flat heavy tined pitchfork) and worked after a rain which softened our heavy clay soil. Due to dense soil, the tuber broke, so I just took the two stalks that broke off. But when I purchased from the canna co-op, all the tubers were like curving or straight 1" cylinders. They looked like white bones. the eyes were blacker and looked a bit like the breaks on bamboo stalks. Due to our dense soil, I have no idea how much root came up with it, but they seem to be quite shallow rooted.

Here ya go... Bonjon made me do this...
Why we work... well, it's not because he's sooooo romantic... that's for sure. BUT... he is the most considerate man I've ever met. He always knows what I need... I think he reads my mind. He just knows when I need some ME time, and leaves me alone... he knows when I'm feeling down, and he hugs me without me saying anything at all. Of course, I wait on him hand and foot when he's home, and all I have to say is "I want ???", and he makes it happen. We work well together on the projects we do around the house and gardens.
My dad told me once when I was a young girl... "you'll know when you meet Mr Right when you can be quiet together, and neither of you are thinking something is wrong". We have mastered being quiet together.
Don is a NERDY kinda guy... total opposite of what I always seemed to date. Someday, I'll tell you the story about how we met... but it's too long for here... another day.

Raleigh, NC

this recipe thang makes me recall......y'all ever tasted home made Kahlua? think about the difference between coffee and fressssh coffee - that's it.

I knew a gal gave me a homemade Kahlua recipe. Lost the recipe (all my recipes) in my divorce, but I just realized I met her two summers ago again in a different town. She's moved there and I was back visiting an old friend. [ex worked in nuclear, and there's only so many places for that so folks move to and from the same towns a lot] Would if she'd part with it again? I'm going to give it a try.

BY THE BY - everyone that loves Plant Delights Nursery - Tropicana, Tggfisk and LavinaMae are holding the 2nd annual Raleigh Round Up starting at Plant Delights (PDN open house date) July 12. See Round Up forum for details. everyone invited to my house for a swim afterwards - and no, you can't do any private swimming - DH is too shy to share that ....

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

bonjon, homemade kaluha is the best
not trying to brag, but my hubby is the best

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Brag away Sis!!
BJ, you wrote you've mastered being quiet together. Us too, but trouble is, we could read each other's minds, so where's the solace?

Lol! Plenty of times we finished off each other's sentences. Plenty of times too, we would burst out singing the same songs........and that would come out of nowhere, and mind y'all we both love blues, jazz, rock, besides the obvious Christian hyms!

Kel's my second, but he is truly my confidante and my best friend too.
The daily things he does for me is like second nature to him. Like giving me my meds and shots, taking my blood glucose readings. He does things for me that even some nurse's aides will wince at.

He certainly is one of the rare he-saints left! Lucky God gave me another chance at love. And to think I had sworn off men after my 25 years with ex!

Raleigh, NC

you too, Heaven? If mine didn't remember my meds I would be in a bad way. when I had sepsis in 2004, he had to nurse me for four months. right after we married and planned a pregnancy immediately, I got put on 7 months bedrest. He had to take over being mom and dad for "our" older two AND care for me.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Marion-- I hope today's a better day for you GF.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Bonjon, aren't we the fortunate ones?
Kel weighed 300 pounds once, at 6ft. 3. Gals won't give him a second look -- lucky for me! He's quite the nerdy kind, brilliant, a movie buff, art critic and of course music lover. Not a great dresser neither.
That's when I first met him.
But now, even his family's amazed at his transformation. Nope, I have nothing to do with it. It's called love, and funny how love can release all the insecurities!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

My sweet guy is old, semi bald, hooknosed, and nobody would have him but me, till they get to know him1 But I remember him WHEN, and I don't see all the years and the wrinkles and the gray hair. His sexy voice is still the same!
