This is a bird that had the most beautiful song "voice". I could just sit for hours listening to it. I can't figure out whait is. At first I thought it was a Cowbird but the picture does't look like in my book. Maybe a Warbler of some kind????

Here's another of the bird. He/she was gray and very smooth feathered. About the size of a robin.

Any guesses?

And finally, here's a picture of Murphy meeting the neighbor's new puppy (Mary Jane). He is trying to be so gentle - great practice for his new sister (which are due tomorrow).

Cograts jeannine on your new baby to be. I love your Fla room, we call them patio rooms or enclosed patios here instead of Florida rooms and we are not allowed to have heat in the rooms since they are not really part of the square footage. Are you supposed to have them in yours?

Crozet, VA

Sounds like you had fun Jeannine despite shin accident and possible wrist damage. Thank you fos haring the lovely pictures. What a gorgeous spot.

Bev, your pictures of the plants are delightful as always. I love the Scottish Broom, or whatever it is that you said the red bloomed plant was called. That is a new one to me also.

Liz, you gals are getting me excited for you. What fun it will be to all get together. I can imagine the many laughs that you all will have. Judy seems to be such a fun loving person. Judy, good luck eating all the yummies that you haven't had for a while. Buy lots of denture paste is my only suggestion.

Betty, I hope that you will feel better upon arising today. If not, get to the doctor!!!! Please.

All others, have a great day.

Morning, slept fairly well, awoke 3 or 4 times but managed to go back to sleep..am dressing and ready for the city..Suzanne ha a meeting at the Trustee's early this morning so it's drive myself or hitch a ride an hour earlier..so I'll opt for early that way I can close my eyes while travelling..almost decided to stay home but with Paul giving us Monday off thought better of it...

A surprise when I got home last night, the topsoil I waited on for April and May arrived..so guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend..wanted to do beds near the back shed, my DG bed, so will try to see if I can create something..might get ambitious and do the window frames I had planned as well..

Night is just now breeaking into day..but I managed to take a couple of photo's of the garden..it's not in it's glory yet, but that will come..

Jeannine, OMG perfect getaway for you and DH..should have shipped the kids to friends houses..lol..a romantic spot for sure..

Dawn how is it going for you? any updates on DD...
Laura, pictures please 'grandma'... how are you faring health wise?

Paul, not even looking, got to read today's episode in the life of Paul from Alabama..always makes my day..

Well Ruby sounds as though you have had several nice days enjoying the homestead..nothing better is there that being fully at peace at home...John must be enjoying the fact that now you get to visually enjoy the hard work..any news on the ring?

Liz the day is coming, lol, am sure you've bags packed at the door, lordy how is DH coping with you and the excitement...now it is this weekend you are having the garage sale..hope you make a lot of buck..do you have antique dealers than go to your garage sales looking for treasures...we have many here ..makes one nervous to think you might be selling an antique for $1.00..whatever will you do with a sparse kitchen?? should go back and look for all the photo's you posted and have a before and after look..lol

Carol, when does your secret garden get at it's best? mid July?

Hope I didn't miss anyone, if so please forgive as it's early morning and eyes/brain aren't fully operational...

I should have planted more 'mallow' do enjoy these..miniature hollyhocks or at least smaller version ..

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Morning all,
Jeannine..what a lovely spot..looks very peaceful. Do you find these places to stay on the internet and just book them?

I had a look in my bird book..your bird may be a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher. It says its song is a "thin musical warble."
You must be excited to see the new puppies.

Betty..yes mid to end of July seems to be peak time for my garden.

Ruby..what on earth were you doing awake in the wee hours of the morning..your post gives the time 2:22 am.

Must show you my grandaughter at the Grade 8 Graduation last evening. It was a very good ceremony.

Got breakfast downstairs, time to unwind before the day actually starts..Suzanne thought I should stay home but in all fairness with getting Monday off just couldn't..

Brought another 1/2 doz santa faces to paint-project going well..guess you don't want to hear that 6 months from tonight will be Christmas Eve..nope, didn't think you did...we'll now be on the downswing so start making up that list and checking it out twice to see who is naughty or nice...lol..

Just listenening to the news on t.v. - imagine someone possibly deliberately putting anti-freeze in a dog park..2 dogs dead, others quite ill..hope they find this person..what kind of people are out there to do such things?

Carol, now isn't she adorable, can't remember being that young can you?
Principal was so very thoughful to provide roses for mom's..bet there wasn't a dry eye in the place...

Jeannine, bet you are also counting the days for your new family addition..

Crozet, VA

I just had to come in and share my exciting news. I found the ring!!! St. Anthony prayers work. Thank you so much for saying a prayer Betty. It was found in a place that I wouldn't even think to look. My cleaning lady is here and I mentioned to her that I was missing two rings and thought I had put them in a baggie at some point. She said there is a jewelry store box in you candy box, maybe they are in there. Well, lo and behold, there both rings were in that box. I knew that recently I had gotten them together to take to jewelry repair shop. So glad that she had seen them. Yippie!!!! Now I need to decide how to reset the diamonds.

Starzz, wonderful pics of graduation ceremony. I bet it was an exciting evening. This is one of my little bit of sleep nights. I had problems for about a year with only being able to sleep very short stretches at a time. A month or so ago, I changed the dosage on one of medicines and I have been sleeping a whole lot better since then. Not sure what has happened the past two nights that have me up at 1 or 1:30. I just go with the flow and try not to dwell on it too much.

Betty, the white worms are called grubs. Slugs are a big snail with no shell. I hate both of them but hate the slugs the most. I had to treat two of my back flower beds last year for grubs. The mixture that I bought worked because I haven't seen any this year back there. I have only seen one in the front bed too. I am hoping that they were what was making my gladiolus look so bad last year and that the glads will do better this year since the treatment. I now have about 5 or 6 glads in bloom. They have always been my favorite blooming flower.

Anyway, I have several things I need to do this morning. You folks have a great day.

Ruby

How very exciting Ruby..will have to give St. Anthony a 'thank you' prayer..kids always laugh at me because I'm a firm believer in his gift..brats..now who else yesterday said they were missing something of value..will have to go back and read won't I..

Bev, was you who lost the ring..off to pray to St. Anthony...

Carol, can see your new triangular support in the background, what have you planted next to it to grow, more morning glories?

Slugs..they look like snails (inside hard casings) if so then yes I did find some, I was more worried about the cutworm (white worm) that I see...

Love your basket, now is it on a bike? Bernice told me she had the bike she painted for her front, think it's yellow, anyway she wasn't sure she wanted it anymore and said she'd let me know and I could have it...not sure where I'd put it but am sure there is a spot..lol

Just love your hostas..now do the slugs like ALL plants or only hosta's..must make the go around tonight and check my plants..Bernice thought I had a few bugs in my hollyhocks and she thought I should sprinkle with soap and water...I also (but then am not a gardener like most have) ever heard of spit bugs..big bunches of spit on flower and/or stems she grabbed it and there was a micro little worm so I'd better check them out as well..lordy there are loads of things to watch out for aren't there?

I'll learn, have all of you to look out for me..lol

Gita, you packed yet?

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Hi Betty,
The basket is hanging on a tree..the wheel you see is a big old wagon wheel leaning against the other side of the tree as a support for a Clematis.

I planted Brown eyed susan vine (Thunbergia) on the triangular support..some at each corner.

Yes..so many bugs that eat our plants..some one doesn't even find....you just see the damage.

Rose Gertrude Jekyll..has the most wonderful rose scent..just like a fancy rose soap.

OMG...Carol, I am totally in Awe..Absolutley Gorgeous!

I love your roses! the purple on is delightful. I am guessing the white one is Snow Owl...Stunning!

Betty, Your gardens are looking Beautiful as well, i love to see the grdens before daybreak or in the evening, The colors seems to jump out and give such a different allure.

Jeannine,Wow looks like a beautiful place to go and visit. Pretty lil bird visitor you had. So glad you all had wonderful weekend. Bummer to hear about your wrist, hope it heals quickly. Sounds like a bit of tendonites. Try to keep it a little immobile.(yeah right, hard to do, i know) Oh how exciting on the arrival of new puppy. Looks like Murphy is ready for a lil one to play with.

Ruby, I am so happy to hear you found your rings! Whew. Enjoy your day.

Bev, Got a crazy little story for you. I once wore a turquoise ring for years. Then some time ago I lost it. As you, I had no idea I'd lost it, but none the less was sad.
Kept my eyes peeled for it everywhere in the house. Well, I came to terms that I lost it for good and forgot about it. Well, two summers ago I began a small patio area behind the shed. So, Began tilling in order to level the space out. I am sort of nuts when i till because I also sift every inch of soil...Guess what I found! My ring!! I couldn't beleive it, It had been buried in the way back behind the new shed. That area used to be a compost pile. Still to this day, i keep my eyes peeled for little treasures. So LOL moral of my story is, Don't give up. I hope you find your diamond more sooner then years, like now actually but Think of when you last had it on, maybe something will trigger and you will led right to it...Keeping my fingers crossed you find it.

OH MY GOSH, You all, I am in total ecstacy!! ROFLOL...you know what over? I just ate a Nacho Cheese Dorito. I am laughing so hard, such a silly thing but man I haven't had one in months! Now, thats pretty pitiful...So to the point my mouth is watering, Even had to txt Liz and tell her my exciting news on junk food binge here. hahah, she hasn't answered yet, probably laughing too.

Ok, Just wanted to say hi...going to go finish my lunch.
hahah, enjoy your days.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy, you are a card, I thought I needed to get a life..here you just need Nacho's lol..
Well I knew I should not have gone to eat, I can hardly fit in my office chair..I'm sure getting fed up of this..just called the specialist office, told the secretary that I needed to get in quickly, but she said they wouldn't have the tests back for yet another week or so, left my office number and said if they had ANY cancellation to please call me.. we'll see what that does..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Carol, was just at home depot, OMG you should see their planters..$25.98..should have bought a couple but didn't..so huge, just eye catching, who knows, I drive in on Thurs. maybe I'll go pick me self up one..could be my July 1st. gift right?

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Starzz was it daylight when you took the pic of the slugs on your hosta. Inever see them during the day!!! If I did I would be out with my bucket and tongs and salt!! Seed, it wasn't my diamond that I lost it was my band ring. I might have mine in the compost too because thats where I put the leaves!!! Hi everyone. It is starting to rain. Going to every day this week. Oh! well saves my 3 barrels of rainwater that I collect for when I need it. Hugs to all BEV

Geez! Seems we have gone from #48 to #49 and I have hardly posted!

I took off all this week to get ready for my trip. Haven't accomplished a whole lot.
Spent all day today at the Hospital sitting around. Mark had to take my daughter, Aina, to the emergency room middle of last night with an acute, painful appendix attack. He called me around 1:30AM to yell me they were at the Hospital and that her surgery would be at 1PM today.
So, this morning, I was there before 11AM and so was Mark. He had not even slept all night. So, we were sitting in her room making small talk. She was in such pain! Then her pain med. wore off, and they did not give her any more as she was soon to have surgery.

They came and got her and we all went down to the pre-Op area and sat there and waited and waited for the Dr. The nurses and the Anesthesiaologist all did their "thing"....and we waited more! Seems, he was tied up in assisting another surgery and did not come to us until about 2:30PM.

Then they took her off to the OR and we went to the waiting room--about 1/4 miles away. All those corridors!!! You could get lost in there.
Mark has a very hard time walking (still) so I would grab a wheelchair and push him back and forth to whatever destination. He sure appreciated that.

So, now we are sitting in the waiting room for another hour and a half. Mark wanted some coffee--so I offered to go downstairs to the cafeteria and get him a cup. I think I asked 5 people for directions--coming and going.....

The Dr. came in and talked to us. The surgery was all done and over with in abour 1/2 hr. The Dr. said that the appendix was gangrenous, and maybe has been for several days already. Instead of the laproscopic surgery--they did the cut--to clean everything out, I am sure. He also said he wanted to keep her in the Hospital until Thursday afternoon because of possible infection due to the gangrene.
Finally, they were going to take Aina to her room. And I wheeled Mark back up through the maze of corridors. She came in just after we got there.

As expected--she was not in any kind of a social mood. Very sleepy and still in pain. So we just made sure she was OK, and left. Mark was dying to get some sleep. I was starving--and picked up some Ch. Nuggets at Wendy's ans sm. fries. I guess I had a junk food attack too!

Lost this whole day--and will have to really get organized to be ready for my trip.
I was counting on Aina to come here and water my garden. Now I know it won't be as attended to as it would have been. Mark said he would try to do it--but he walks with a cane and has NO clue about plants.
I guess I can ask my new neighbors.......??????

NO! I am not yet packed!!! Have start on that tomorrow. I am worried if everything I have accumulated will fit. I am taking a lg. suitcase and a small one--the carry-on type.
I have a lot of gifts....mostly for the small ones and 2 babies on the way.

***To all of you! I will be gone for almost a month after this Saturday. Do not freak out and worry if you have not seen me post. I haven't posted for a LONG while--and no one has asked---"Where's Gita"??? Yeah! Yeah!

OK! Have things to do!

I will miss all of you!!!!! Gita

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Have a wonderful trip Gita.
Hope your daughter has a good recovery.
