Lovely blooms, everybody. Maria, I'm so impressed by your rose!
Garden Photos - Part 17
Yes, Louise, those are coleus--wish I had more--also need to get some mulch there & many places where it has washed downhill! Loved the rose, Maria--each flower is so full & unique. Pix--I also have what you id'd as Laurent---I'm not sure if it is, but I know it is a tea hardy to zone 4--which is very unusual. Your white flower is a campanula--at least, it looks like mine. Saw some wonderful roses at the nursery yest., but here is the one I bought--mainly because it's a Carefree.
pixie how do you have a rose of sharon blooming so early? I have that one as well and do not think i will see blooms until mid-august if my memory is right.
Hem - great find on the peonies. and that shirazz price is great, i paid $260 after tax. and it is a keeper and seems very hardy.
Bill...I cheated, I just bought it....long story :
3 years ago I feel in love with Anita's Red Heart here on DG. I went and purchased a good sized one for $25. It did not bloom that year or the next. Last year it bloomed....was NOT Red Heart but a +solid double red one. This year spied a tag that said Red Heart...not falling for it!! Next plant in line had blooms and was indeed Red Heart...so I bought it.
Edited to say that normally it would not bloom here until Aug/Sept. and this one only cost me $12

I thought you might have had it in a GH to give it a fast start. You probably so this already - i prune all the R of S hard in the spring which makes it bloom profusely.
Same color as the new intro - L'il Kim, which I have. Its blooms last three days vs. the normal one.
which blooms last only three days?
The individual flowers on most ROS's last only one day. On L'il Kim, they last three days.
one day? mine seem to last much more than that - i'll have to watch this year
i understand each individual flower - love that franziska maria - hope my new one takes. of the 4 clems i planted i left som of the foliage above ground. all the others are still green - FM have browned.
Here's the blurb:
LIL’ KIM™ Hibiscus syriacus ‘Antong Two’ ppaf
Say hello to the only miniature Rose of Sharon. A unique little shrub with dainty little white flowers punctuated with a showy red eye. The plant appears to be polyploidy because it has thick, dark green leaves and the flowers last for three days instead of the typical one day before falling. Great for mixed containers, mixed perennial beds or for around decks. Developed by noted plantsman Dr. Shim of South Korea.
thx
Yeahhh lilies.Mine should pop any day now.
Cassablancas outside my bedroom window.
I love your pinks.
Looks like a lily to me Victor.
WOW mine is just budding, It absolutly knocks itself out where the former owners put it. I trimmed it this winter and thought I had interrupted this season but NO.
I will send pics in a week or so.
LOVE the mopheads
I assume you were referring to the hosta shot, Jo Ann. That's one of the main reasons they were put in the same family. Now they are moving hostas (some are still fighting it) to the agave family, based more on dna, etc.
I'm in a whirrl, who decides what classification plants get.
The mafia. You gonna argue with them?
nope
Hem that clematis looks like mine... but I think the petals are different
