I think they can all live together
I'd like to propose a Miniature and Fairy Gardening forum
Faries and gnomes can live peacefully together. What they need to watch out for is those pesky wart nosed trolls living under bridges!!
Must also be cautious when Garden family's dogs are around. Dogs have been known to use small faries/gnomes/angels as chew toys on occasion!!
This is Lizzy. She keeps watch over the pond!
Thanks for letting me know before I go out and buy some darling faries. I don't allow trolls anywhere near my garden. I've heard they really can be nasty.
Lizzy is adorable, hope I can find some of her relation.
I would love to see a forum dedicated to 'Fairy Gardening'. I think it would be great. I've been planning a fairy garden in my yard for a long time now. Haven't started it yet but I have lots of ideas in my head.
I love all the pictures that have been posted. Just put my head to spinnin'. Hope we get a forum.
Everyone wants a fairy garden so Dave how about giving us our own forum???
Just too hot today to do any gardening, but ideas abound. Over 101 and by this time of evening it should have cooled off. Better check on poor plants, wish I had a fairy to stand watch over them.
We need a rain fairy here!
A rain fairy Yes good idea since it got 105 where I live....
She could keep my Mini garden watered..................................
Yes! It would be great; I too have had to look far and wide for tiny things and love seeing everyone elses ideas.
seed...
How do you make sure Dave gets all this?
A.
maybe it could include all miniatures--fairies, gnomes, elfs, trolls, miniature gardens (like the golf one shown above) ---
Annie--Don't worry, Dave and/or Terry are watching...they keep an eye on forum request threads, they won't usually jump in and comment unless they have concerns, but they like to make sure there's enough sustained interest in the topic to justify a new forum before they create one. After all, if they made a new forum every time someone had a request we'd have a million forums and some of them would probably sit around with no action for weeks or months at a time, so they like to make sure there'll be a good level of activity on the forum before they'll make one.
I would like to see a forum dedicated to miniatures, too. Fairy gardens are so cute. The grandkids would love one and I've been searching for ideas to create one for their yards. Especially the grandaughters. I have two that are sooo into butterflies, dragonflies and fairies.
I love the RR idea, also. I have three grandsons, two of which would like that idea, I'm sure. (one is a teenager and has other interests right now..lol)
oh yes--miniature rail roads too! good idea!
It would be great to have a forum to share ideas for which plants work best for use as miniature trees, grasses, shrubs and vines as well as ideas for achieving different types of landscapes from desert to mountains in the diminutive form. It would also give us a place to discuss the miniature items that work like lighting, pumps for water features etc that make up some of the great mini gardens and share sucesses and failures. A place where newbies to miniatures (like me) could get help and ideas.
I have always been fascinated by the miniatures but was never sure where or how to get started.
I am not clicking on any of these links Taylor!!
Seedpicker - You have d-mail.

sue..why? do you hear the sound of fairy money ?
SuzySweetpea-
that is a fabulous golf garden, and you did a great job keeping it masculine. I'll bet it is the topic of conversation, for all future topics of conversations that happen at his house from now, on.
I didn't do the garden I posted. Those were just for examples and inspiration. I did do a miniature living coffee table(http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/743757/), and am planning on converting it to a miniature garden.
Annie-
I wrote the administration by clicking the about us tab, and then contact us tab. I wrote a request for a forum, and directed them to the thread I started in discussions and chat, and then to this one. So, hopefully, they are watching. :0)
Just be sure and send your friends over here to comment, if they'd support the new forum.
Sue-You are so good at container gardening, that this would come naturally for you. Check out this site. These gals do it professionally, and then it caught on so well, they started selling the accessories: http://www.twogreenthumbs.com/miniblog.html
They have a lot of neat stuff, and a lot of neat pictures of their work.
To all-
as for the name of it, how about the Lillipution Gardening forum, or something like that that covers all things small, which would naturally be including miniature, fairy, gnome, railroads, etc...?
Hey Linda,
The miniature RR are a great idea..but not mine ;-) I saw it further up the thread. I'm here and will be at the new forum (if there is one) to learn about miniature gardens.
After seeing all these great photo's y'all are sharing, I'm getting excited about doing some.
My daughter in TN has the perfect spot(s) for some fairies...under the bluff at the creek in her back yard. I'm going to point her to the 'new forum' ??? :-)
i think it will be fun to see all the tiny things people come up with! we will be thinking small!
I'm getting to worn out to do much more than think small anyway, so this comes along just at the right time. LOL
how nice that your daughter likes to garden too--or are you enticing her with the fairy idea?
Oh my goodness, that girl is one giant green thumb! She can touch a dead plant and make it live..or so it seems. Her gardens always look so much better than mine.
She is a member here...crimsontsavo (I think that is how it's spelled)
I'm enjoying these two threads, already, with all this concentration of miniature and fairy talk in one place.
Just imagine how much more fun it would be if it were all on its own forum. Especially, when everyone else sees the new forum, and gets involved!

Here is the link that I saw this picture on...
How about naming the forum "little Landscape" gardens? Or Lillipution landscapes?
OMaGosh!
Do you guys know about Tasha Tudor?
She was an amazing ,gardener artist and minature maker.(As well as much more!)
PS. seed, that last link was DANGEROUS!
please,please check Out Tasha!

I would love to see a forum for miniature and fairy gardens. What a great idea.
Hope it can happen.
I would love a forum for all things miniature.
BerkeleyAnnie, I enjoyed reading most of Tasha Tudor's website. Brought back memories of a great aunt who also lived an amish lifestyle. I just realized she passed away this week. Did I miss the mini homemade furnishings? I didn't see that section. I should to go back and revisit that site some more.
To me, adding a forum for minature gardening would also generate more vendor listings in watchdog as well. This being a new gardening experience for me, I'm having a difficult time locating resources for best buys on plants and accessories.
good point.
I've collected a lot of vendors in my favorites tab, but so far have not ordered and would be nice when I do to be able to rate them on here...currently no dollhouse vendors in the watchdog, lol...

I keep watching this thread, hoping to see a fairy forum. Speaking of vendors, I'll post a link for a supplier of fairy gardening accessories. Can't speak for them personally, not bought anything yet, but will post it for your viewing. I have bought things at Michael's like tiny shovels, etc. and they are in their tiny shed waiting for me to finish up.

I would love more links like that if anyone has them
this has cute plants :

Count me in for supporting a Fairy/Miniature Garden Forum!!!
Having one forum we could post links for sources, info, share ideas, and photos would be less time consuming than searching through all the other forums picking up info, here and there, on creating fairy gardens, or a miniature gardens! The bonsai; container; rock & alpine; ferns, fungi & mosses; etc., forums are all making my head spin... can't keep watching so many, along with my other interests!
I've started a toad habitat and want to incorporate miniature scenes around it (and for it). It seems like it's becoming a fad in my area here, too! I hope admin or the forum host, can collect all the existing great links to list in a new forum as well!
I am glad you looked Cord (tasha Tudor)
I think because she just died the website i linked to is changed...no dollhouse..
But look inside her book at Amazon...She and her children made a replica of their own house down to potted plants,Paintins and frames, wooden bannisters and corgie dogs. Her Gardens were amazing also. I cant say how much I adore her. By the way she illustrated "a secret garden" by frances hodgson burnett

I propose Miniature Gardens, not everyone may be into fairies so that encompasses anything miniature and the forum would be easily intensified, even for those do train type miniatures..
I know Taylor, it's just that I am afraid of getting sucked in, I am always drawn to the miniature gardens when I see them but no money now with my almost no job hours and the bills are backing up. I want to get a license so I can do a container gardening business but even start up costs so I have to figure something out.
I have created the forum!

THANK YOU DAVE!!
YOURE THE BESTEST!!!
Great! Now I can get serious about researching mini plants and ideas! I need to start at square one and learn before I start ordering plants!
