Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I'm glad.
..more than trading plants, it's alot of fun socializing...and finally a day that we can say "Rangoon Creeper" and not have someone roll their eye balls when the plant jargon starts!

Humble, TX(Zone 9a)

Tabitha, have you gotten the crocosmia (montbretia) you wanted,,, if not, I can bring you some. But beware,,, if you plant it directly in your garden, it will take over. It is beautiful, tall and multplies like crazy !!!
jana

Humble, TX

Jana-I haven't gotten any crocosmia yet, but it sounds like my kind of plant-beautiful and multiplies like crazy.

Beaumont, TX

I have loads of Pride of Barbados seeds if anyone is interested. I also have started 4 Royal poinciana seeds. They were a gift. I have all four seeds going. No sprouts yet ...but I'll bring a couple if they have shown up by the round up. I only have room for one tree. Also some blue shrimp seeds started the other day.
I have red, white, orange and fruit cocktail shrimp. I could start some of those too.

http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1337/ Crossandra tangerine haven't tried rooting yet but it's supposed to be able to.

knolan I'd love to have Belinda's Dream if you can start it. :)

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

OK, I'm new to this, so be kind. I have a fair amount of:
Walking iris (Neomarica gracilis)
Cashmere bouquet or Mexicali rose
Giant sword fern
Sword fern
Leatherleaf fern
Epazote (Mexican herb)
Chocolate plant
Cast iron plant (aspidestra)
Japanese toad lily
Wandering jew (green) but be sure it has secure boundaries; it is very invasive.
Airplane plant
(I'll probably think of some more)

I want more:
Justicia
Blue daze
Just about anything that thrives in rather heavy shade that's not listed above.

I gather folks speak for these things in advance.
Let me know if you want any of this stuff and about how much.
Lou

Humble, TX(Zone 9a)

louparris, I will try to pot up some blue daze. I have a big bush (wide) but haven't tried before. May I have some of your toad lilies?
jana

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Japanese toad lily, I would love a few of these. Check out my trade list, please

Missouri City, TX

Randy,
Since your path is "gone", maybe we should all bring our own trowels and pots (and bigger trucks).

You could direct us on what and where to dig and remove your overgrowth.

Of course, with this group, your back yard might look like a locust migration hit it - LOL.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

LOL Bubba especially since I covet his plants so much. When I start swinging the shovel everyone better move....ROTFLOL

But just think Randy how much fun starting over.....NOT....Just Joking.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I have a few holes in my garden due to plants that didn't fair well so far this summer. One is facing southeast and gets quite a bit of sun during the day until about 3pm. The other gets shade until about 3pm and then full sun until sundown. I need one rather large plant for the first one, and two that get about 2-3 ft tall in the second. If anyone has anything that might fit these, please let me know. I have looked far and wide and there is just nothing out there right now.

:) Kim

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Jana, Sorry but the E.E. isn't variegated, but they do get real big & tropical looking. Would you still want one?

Karlae & Vernica got you tagged.

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

Kim - I don't have one growing to give but, have you looked at a duranta for your southeast needs? It does get tall and after the second year, has the showiest purple blooms ever that then develop into beautiful yellow berries. It's a great plant for full sun and something that you want to grow large. I've trained mine into tree form but you can allow them to get as shrubby as you like. I've tried starting a gazillion cuttings, in soil and water, but they don't take. Take a look at it and see if it's something you like. It might be worth the investment for you.

Humble, TX(Zone 9a)

Karlae, sure do want one even if it's not variegated. Thanks
jana

Freeport, TX

Jana- I think that needed to go to Cannagirl Jim

Humble, TX(Zone 9a)

opppppssss !!! you are correct. So sorry.
Cannagirl, did you see that? Please save me one,, ok?

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Lol, Jana got you tagged.

Thanks Jim!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Kim,
I have castor bean trees.

Don't tempt me Bubba, I'm ready to hand out shovels. I was telling Wayne yesterday I must be a hardcore plant enthusiast as I was realizing the amount of time I've been spending out there this year.

If anyone has EXTRA plants they want to get rid of, bring them to the swap. Itt seems as though there will be quite a few folks at the Swap just starting out, or having just moved etc etc and may be interested in aquiring some.

Humble, TX(Zone 9a)

Randy,,,,,uuuggg, how do I say/ask *** I killed my castor bean..... and I am crying,,sobbbb
I decided to prune because, blab, blab, blab,,,you know the story,,,right???? Well, the cuttings did nothing and the stump ,,,well !!!!!! So--- do I dare ask--- if you have a tiny one --- extra- -I ask so quietly........may I ?????

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks for the offer RJ...but I have a dog that likes to eat anything he finds and last year he found seeds to a castor bean. Luckily he didn't ingest them but that was enough of a scare for me. They are pretty though.

:) Kim

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Randy, I would love a castor bean please.

Cannagirl the oleanders will be cuttings ok? I would like

small Banana Seedling...1 trade
Tropical Hibiscus...2 trades

Thanks,
Sandy ^8^

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Glad I asked before I yanked them out and sent them out on big trash next week.
Plenty of castor beans..I'll try to pot them up soon..

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Randy, intended to find the picture of the castor bean but came upon the morning glorey tree first. It is just wonderful. Has grown a lot and just blooms her little heart out.

Prettiest from inside. The jungle is beginning to get pretty crowded. Just what I ordered. The papaya has grown at least an additional 2 feet. Maybe eventually fruit!! Oh wow!!!! Just looked out the window and the clerodendrum has buds. yay! 3/4 inch of rain last night has made all the difference.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

wow, all the leaves look luscious..
How are you doing? I'm working overtime tomorrow....have a big storm here now messing up the operation. Wonder how I'm going to get all these plants done ontime?!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

what day are you guys coming down? a day early? 2 days early?

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I will come a day or two early to help and leave some left overs for the others.....but very few,,,,,,,,, ;O)

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

We would try to make it easy on you. Let us know and we will work on it.

Christi

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

Randy - I'm on a desperate hunt for clerodendrum 'musical notes'. I saw Wayne carries it but is out of stock. Do you know where I can find one? I MUST have this plant.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I've got a plant of that, but it isn't thriving in this drought. Perhaps I could take a cutting but I've never tried to root it?

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

Blue-eyes - I would be forever in your debt if you can get a cutting to root.
