Houston Area Plant Swap and Social Trade List

Freeport, TX

As of right now, about the only thing I know I can bring would be some cuttings of Rabbits Foot Fern. I'm going to try to start some Datura seeds and root some Sport Hibiscus (check PF for cultivar "El Capitolio") We have red and apricot? (I call it orange) Also, I have a few Plumeria I started from seed, and maybe an Orchid Tree or two if the seedlings don't fry in this heat. I'll try to have a more complete list posted in the next couple of weeks. See y'all on the 26th. jim

My "haves" as of 07/17/08:
4 or 5 Bauhinia seedlings (the tree I got the seeds from had purple blooms, that's all I know)
Clerodendrum Thomsoniae - about 12 rooted cuttings
Clerodendrum x Speciosum - about 12 rooted cuttings
Blue Ginger - I think I have 4-5 rooted cuttings
Varigated Tropical Hibiscus " Snow Queen" - 6-8 rooted cuttings

That's about all I know I have at last look. The weather has been tough on cuttings and seedlings.
I can still bring some fresh cuttings of Rabbit's Foot Fern if anyone is interested. I'll also have a few
"unlisted" plants like Randy suggested a while back. If anyone wants some of what I have listed, let me know. See ya Jim

I definitely have my "want list" started :)

Knolan- could I have a Dutchman's pipe vine and a cutting from your Oxipetalum?

Marylyn_Tx- I'd love a cutting from your orchid cactus (sometimes NOIDs are more fun waiting to see what color they are).

Moodene- One of your unknown hedichiums would be appreciated.

Let me know if you want any of what I listed above.

I should start some Black Eyed Susan vines...
I have one that I will be trimming this weekend..it's a monster..it won't stop! it gets morning shade and afternoon sun. This will be my 3rd big chop of the year...it's hard to keep up with. It likes regular fertilizing. I use 20 20 20 sometimes and a 18-8-28 sometimes..the latter is a soluable hibiscus fertilzer high in potash.

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Jana, I would love one of your B. Gypsy Queen.

Humble, TX(Zone 9a)

Randy, I am so glad you posted info on your Bk eyed Susan. I am having trouble with mine. Maybe not enough fert., too much sun,, I don't know. She looks awful, yellowing and dying leaves. I just got some Hibiscus fert. ,I will try that.
jana

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

Jana..would ya like for me to bring the ginger to Jerry's?..let me know ok..

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Is it in a pot? because I have one in a pot..it's doing fine, but it's water intake is ferocious..

bye the way..Wayne is going to invite Jerry to the swap/social...Ya'll can invite him too if you want.

Humble, TX(Zone 9a)

Randy, Susan is in a hanging pot and has climbed to the top of the support ,,, but all up the vine the leaves are dying. I water it almost everyday, but confess sometimes skip a day or so. I have fed it Miracle Gro but will mix up some Hibiscus fert. tomorrow. It has bloomed several times but I am trying to save it .

Got everybody down!

Moodene....I think they are all lovely but especially like the blue mushroom with the buttons and the red birdfeeder.

:) Kim

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Yeah, Jana...the Susan needs to repot..that's the problem..it needs more soil. They like having lots of humus dirt around them.

I was just walking through the garden and thought I might have a "dig your own chocolate plant" thing...but I won't be so lazy..I think. It's been a very very very good year for the chocolate plant, and they are covering some of the back garden beds..I love those plants! they are the ticket..they can spread all they want!

Awsome Sandy..have large trichotimum that I was just giving the evil eye, as I don't know where to put him..have lots of bungei...also have Philipinum...they are pretty with those big boquets..but my goodness those plants get HUGE.. The White brug in the back has gone to seed....big time...so will have brug seeds white too.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

RJ, Thank you so much and as for the chocolate plant as many as you want to get rid of. (of course sharing with others too). And white brug seeds are great.

I have an addiction that won't quit and I really don't want it to. I love plants and want all of them....lol and one of every color.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

May I have a chocolate plant, too, Randy? I'd be happy to dig my own. ;-)

Humble, TX(Zone 9a)

YEA ! it is raining big time in Humble. I just finished watering somethings, hahaha.
Randy, I will repot the Susan tomorrow. I fed her
hibiscus food today. May I ask you for some of your plants? I have tried to keep track of all the offers ---Choc. plant, loquat, cler. trichotimum, plumeria, and maybe a papaya. Is all that too much? I will be happy with anything you have to offer.
jana

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Yes, plumeria, trichotimum...then I will be out of those, papaya, loquoat..chocolate...
Did someone say chocolate?

This is one of 3 such patches right now.
