Wow, 7 kids and 2 great danes? AND a deli too? I'm impressed Lisa! Your porch photo is beautiful.
Harper
Flowerjen- I'm only about 35 minutes from Trenton. Where in Central Jersey are you? (I'm between Stockton, NJ and Doylestown, PA). Are you, perhaps, interested ingoing to the RoundUp in Williamsport in August? I'd love to go but, with the cost of gas, would like to find someone to go with.
Suz
What a beautiful oasis!
Thanks Sofonisba.
Been working the yards here for probably over 30 years now, since I was about 12 or so.
This year I re-installed the pond with a temporary liner while I plan all the final design details. I'll definitely be posting in the water gardening forum for ideas. Much to know.
Also, hope to install a deck in the greenhouse out level from the house, finally this summer. But, with all the rain, I am leery about putting all the desert stuff out during the work.
Here's a small pic of the veggie and herb gardens
Willie, your pics are great. I want to see them bigger.
I keep all my cacti out during the summer. It's growing season. I figure they like normal watering during this time. I don't keep a saucer under any houseplants outside. I haven't lost a succulent or cacti due to heavy, non-stop rains in four years since I've been in this house.
Looks good, Willie. Yes, larger pics would be better for you to show them off!
Wow! Very impressive.
Oh, I think I'm gonna faint. That's so beautiful. That's in my future. I see a greenhouse just like that one in my visions.
you aren't kidding... i am sooo jealous
Thanks, y'all
I try to start with cuttings, as these fit my budget best :-) I have had some of the plants in that shot well over 20 years.
Here is a nice shot of the patio area out behind the garage.
Behind the dog, Jaakob (an 2007 SPCA rescue), and the ribbon grass is the pond/stream. Followed by Ditch (double tiger) lily and solomon's seal beyond the pond.
And, for those who poo-pooh the National Arbor Day Foundation's Free Trees with Membership program, take note of the absolutely awesome blue spruce that is now about 20 years old. I have nine of the ten free-bees. The tenth is in the neighbor's yard!
To think that these were meager bare root twigs of a thing is truly amazing. Plants rock, eh?
Wow, your own little private world, you'd never know.
It's amazing!
A lot of work, I'm sure, but amazing nonetheless!!
Willie - those shots are just terrific! What a lovely oasis, as someone else called it!!!
Hi Charlie......so glad to have another NH neighbor join us. I'm about 45 minutes from you. Welcome!!
Hi there, Charlie!
Here's a shot of my "Garbage Garden" pond. An old 16 x 20 tarp and some concrete debris. I have been planning this creek (*pronounced crick) for years (20 or so), starting with a friend's busted up back patio piled high in the background and overplanted with pines. Now that things are growing in, I can see where I need to build up, revise and re-create. Maybe I will have it finished within the next decade. Ha! At least I now know what size pond liners I will need to get.
I want the stream to start way back up under the pines and spill out into the creek (to the right) which feeds down into the pond area. I am starting to collect better stone from the lake house to place around the perimeter.
Great Stream, Willie! I've always wanted to build one myself!! You and Patti should compare notes!
Thanks, Donnie!
Only $30.00 for the tarp at Valu Home Center. My kind of garden budget! :-)
Wow! What a deal! Whahoooo!
