This is clematis Silmakivi up close and personal.
Spring Blooms - Part 13
Nice blue iris! My Carribean did not even grow - it died before blooming.
Thom, how old is your Wisteria? I've had mine 3 or 4 years and have never seen it bloom.
I think I have the same Poppy...mine is called 'Princess Victoria Louise'
This is the 2nd, going into 3rd growing season...or is the 3rd growing season. First year, nada, last year, a few, this year...WOW. One thing I learned about clones this year, if you plant something that is a clone, and the clone is a young/immature plant itself, you have yourself the same thing, a very young plant. I'm going to assume, that my wisteria is a clone from a very mature plant, since it is blooming profusely, especially since I'm training it into a tree form. I bought it at a 50% sale at HD, I think it was like $5-7! I'm not sure if training as a tree form (I prune it hard) has anything to do with it or not, of if I just got lucky!
Love that clematis Victor. Ooo! And the blue iris Celeste. Thom, you must be magic. I thought wisteria took 20 years to bloom! Yours looks so young!
Question about sowing seeds: I put in some cosmos, zinnia and nasturtium today. Do I mulch over the soil now or do I wait until I see growth and mulch around the seedlings? Come to think of it, I think I'll wait...
GET OUT!! $5-7?? Oh, man!
...I fainted.
I wish I could smell that mock orange.
Honest...I bought 4 Hellebore from HD at the same time that were wrongly priced. They were all marked down as 1-gal annuals...and of course, no one was buying them because there were no flowers...75% off...I think they were $2 each, or $2.50 each...lol...it was the same day I picked up the Wisteria. I always loved the tree forms, but didn't want to fork over $75-150 for one, and figured, "How hard could this be?" lol.
That's all I can do is laugh...lol.
pixie there is no telling when a wisteria will start blooming that i can tell. I had over 20 blooms this year on my 9 year old. we did have a few in the past. patience is the key
The only thing I can even say, in regard to Wisteria...is the age of the parent plant. Because seed produced Wisteria can take 20+ years to flower, if the age of the parent plant (clone) is not known, it's almost impossible to tell when/if your own Wisteria will bloom, or when it will bloom. Age is the key, so, in essence, Wisteria are like people and wine: They just get better with age :-)
What are they, Celeste?
Violets that are very hardy and prolific.
MissF, are your little white foliage-free flowers Star of Bethlehem?

They say they are invasive - i never get invaded by anything that pretty...
Bill, and anyone else who may be interested, Debbie (Silver Star) is having an end of season Buy 3, Get One Free sale on her clematis.
My mt. laurels are blooming. Have to get some shots tomorrow.
Victor, do you have them planted in shade, semi shade or full sun?
