Hi Everyone,
One of the things that I really like to do is to visit other peoples gardens ........it gives me other gardeners perspectives and creative ideas ......... not that I would steal an idea ; ) but to get ideas for my next garden adventure ............SO ...... I would really like to see others gardens ........besides it is a good excuse to show our gardens off !!!!
here is a pic of my BF garden ......
Show Off Your Gardens !!
Your yards are beautiful. I love the explosions of color everywhere.
I have gained a new appreciation for God's handiwork of bringing plants back to life after winter time. My goal is to NOT buy any plants this year, other than herbs and vegetables (and those are REALLY groceries!). So far, I've lived up to the challenge!!!
This is the only "yard" photo I've taken so far this year.
All the rest of my photos are of individual plants and I have those on my slide show. I'm working on making this a place I can identify each of my plants properly. I update this every time I take photos. I like seeing my plants in different stages. This helps me the following year to know if something is really going to come back or not.http://albums.phanfare.com/4856019/2146898_2309287#imageID=30512426
I've also started a vegetable garden in a pond form this year. My first veggie garden.http://albums.phanfare.com/4856019/2146898_2309286#imageID=30513661
Thanks for allowing me to share my own with you all.

Lord placenciarita, not only is Texas big so is your ornamental grasses......:)
Paul from Alabama
Janet-using the pond forms is a brilliant idea! Love the way you have them arranged in your front yard and how the herb garden is stacked! Thanks for that idea!
I'm wondering if you've had any problems with the heat against the black plastic making the soil too warm for your plants, though. How's the drainage in those things?
I haven't noticed that the heat is a problem (yet). The drainage is excellent. I drilled a whole bunch of holes in the bottom of both of them. This is my first year to grow vegetables, so I am learning as I go. The only problem I've had so far is that I found 2 grubs. I had been wondering why there were dead leaves each day. One had chewed on a zucchini plant so bad that I had to pull the whole plant out. Unfortunately, it was the plant with the single zucchini growing on it. I removed the zucchini before I pulled the plant and we had it with some others I'd bought at the grocery store in a delicious casserole.
This morning, we moved the big split leaf philodendron, that was in a pot, from behind the pond. Some of the melon vine tendrils were starting to cling to it and I didn't want to have a tangled mess to deal with.
There are a lot of blooms on the tomato plants, but no actual tomatoes yet. The salad bowl is slow growing, but I am still hopeful that I'll be able to have fresh salad on my table soon.
thanks everyone for sharing and the compliments .........I too am awestruck by nature .....to see such beauty raise up out of the ground is amazing ..........
this is a picture of one such story...... this spike gayfeather was practically dead at the end of last growing season ......now it is getting ready to bloom and a very cool looking plant, it is the sole survivor of three that I planted in that bed last year .........
Beautiful flowerbed, Stephanie!
Carla
Me thinks that Stephanie is a "Spacer" and not a "Crammer"! HAHAHAHA Oh how I wish I could have that much space between my plants. (sigh!)
Your yard is really pretty! I bet you have lots of butterfly customers.
Janet
LOL Janet! I'm actually a crammer, but I told DH that I was going to let this fill out this year, then in the fall plant more so it'll be fuller next year. Right now, the only thing filling up the space is weeds! I NEED to put something in that space to keep the weeds out, eventho there's lots of mulch down.
Wow Everyone, The pictures are enough to make me drool! You have all done a wonderful job thank you so much for sharing!
Duff
WOW Rita! You have beautiful gardens!
Janet
Thanks for sharing the pics. They are all so lovely. I'm impressed by the Butterfly bushes. I've planted those three times and they've died every time. They never make it through the summer, even with daily watering. I've planted them all in full sun, maybe I should try partial shade??? At any rate, I love all the garden pictures. You've all done a wonderful job with the combination of plants.
Wow, everything is gorgeous! I love the 'spacer' and 'crammer' terms...I must add these to my vocabulary, lol! I am def. a crammer, big time, but that's cottage gardening for ya.
Here's a pic of the whole shebang so far. The curb was landscaped 3 years ago this Labor Day, and we ripped up all of the lawn about 4 mo. ago and converted it to a cottage garden...anyway, it will take a while to fill in fully, but I work on that daily! This pic is also about 2 mo. old, so it isn't what it looks like now.
Also, I have lots of butterfly bushes and I did lose 2 after we had extensive flooding last year. Most of the ones I have left are in partial sun, but the Peacock variety I have is full sun....
That's lovely Ms Doolittle
Beautiful pics. I love seeing what everyone else does with their spaces. I tend to be a "crammer" and my beds are a bit too crowded right now. I need to thin a bit, but can't bear to take out something that's in bloom, so it'll just have to stay scrunched until stuff isn't in full bloom.
I wanted to share this pic of a new vitex I put in last year. It's really bloomed itself silly this year.
Very nice, Bronc, but I think you need more roses!!
I love sneaking off into the other region's forum and drooling over all your lovely gardens... THANKS! I'm still working like crazy getting rid of grass and trying to fill in my gardens. I'm a "crammer-wanna-be"!!!
Psych, sneak over here all you want! We love having visitors, especially visitors who offer such kind compliments!
Beautiful, BB!
