Signs of summer- What do you have blooming?

(GayLynn) Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Beautiful, beautiful gardens and flowers. Love all these pictures. My front garden is a mess with a hodge podge of plants all placed willy nilly from the previous owner. These pictures makes me want to rip it all out and start all over. Keep 'em coming.

Just rearrange them, Stacey's Mom.

So many beautiful flowers and gardens.
It is raining here today so I get to catch up inside.

dale--the photo you captioned summertime is so full of beautiful colors and textures, what if you find a plant you just have to have is there any space? Or do you just make another bed.

This is from one of the gardens I care for.

Alright, I googled 'Willy Nilly' and only came up with a hosta. What is that???

Beautiful mass of pink, Gardengus! I need to find a place for those where they won't get away from me.

(GayLynn) Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

dale_a_gardner that is really pretty... what is it? The pattern looks like a hand painted platter I used to have. You do beautiful work by the way! Love your pictures.

to all>

I was using willy nilly to describe the plant, not meant as an ID
......................^adjective..............................................................^proper noun

I have no idea what it is, just saw it at a nursery and shot the photo. I can tell you it is a tropical.

I shoot 50 or more photos per week, most are for their form (appearance).

Wow! That tunnel is just gorgeous! I can't even imagine coming up with something like that. Just breathtaking. Thanks for sharing. I love your photography. You have a great eye - very talented.

Springboro, PA(Zone 5a)

Great job everyone! I especially like pgt's and dale's borders. If I had to describe my landscaping and flower beds I would call it rustic/cottage style. It's been a cool spring until now but things are starting to pop here.

Photo: Iris, foxglove, lupine and a few other flowers are blooming in my "arbor bed."

Early Bloomer, nice plot you got there, I miss all those 'northern' flowers. They don't grow here....other things do>

early bloomer, l love your lupines and foxglove. They make a cottage garden look 'cottagey" and yours are gorgeous.

Dale, I think you'd find a way to make a beautiful garden no matter where you lived. You just seem to have it in your blood.

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

repeat bloomer, I see lots of familiar things in your garden, I have lots of the same things in bloom and the roses are getting started too. Here in addition to the roses we still have rhodendrons and azaleas though they are past their prime. Cistus is starting and that sure adds great color even if the bloom lasts only a day. Ceanothus is gearing up. Lots of color for another month. Such a beautiful time of year. I do like your 'rustic' arch. Living here on a berry farm, I have access to berry posts and do use some, I had a pergola with larger, taller posts but the wind in combination with my Madame Alfrede Carrier rose weight took it all down this winter, even lost my rose. She just snapped off. And the biggest amount of blooms we have is out in the fields as the berries are almost in full bloom. Hope to get some substantial sun soon and some warmth for the bees to get out and pollinate the berries.

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Joann..we are all praying for warmer & drier weather in our neck of the woods. I will say an extra pray for your Marion Berries and for the little bee's to get buzzing around your field!!

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

Thanks, Bea, it would make for less grumpy spouse too. LOL

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

I have a whole lot of bee's at my house with all my iris in bloom!
Honey and bumbles. Just love the buzz when I am out in the yard.
Your welcome to bring some jars and try to catch some...
I can only image what farmers are going through this season. What a worry! Please tell your spouse that I very much appreciate the hard work that he and fellow farmers do!

I am so happy to see how many more things I have starting to bloom this time of year, compared to last! I was out looking around and I have a bunch of stuff starting - Monarda bradburiana, Silene virginica, Multi-Blue Clematis,
Zizia aptera & aurea, Dianthus barbatus, Amsonia Blue Ice, Weigeila Rubidor. Lychnis campion looks like it will soon. Foxgloves are sending up bloom stalks now, which is wonderful because I didn't have any last year because of them being biennial.

Lonicera sempervirens, has been blooming for a while, but aphids are attacking it pretty bad. May Night Salvia is still going strong. Also, Coral Bells and spring phloxes, are still going.
I still want more in bloom now though! lol

I need more of these!

I know what you mean, summer has been here for a few weeks and the iris are long gone. I think the columbines are done too. Roses are still blooming of course. Hollyhocks, larkspur and this tall yellow daylily. Sorry don't know it's name.

cactuspatch...very, very pretty. Love the garden with the hollyhocks.
Still in the peony stage here. Not all of them are open yet. So glad I put them in supports this year, we got 3" of rain yesterday... they would have been flat on the ground.

Beautiful so much bloom in what I would think of as desert.

Suzy ,
what is a ''three year bloom schedule''?Dose that mean it takes 3 years to bloom , or only blooms every three years?
