These need to be thinned also...they are not my favorites!
Spring Blooms part 11
I love poppies at that stage CelesIt' such a surprise when you look half an hour later and the whole flower is completely open.
Very nice tulip, Celeste!
Thanks, sjms for confirming that for me. I really love it, as well as many of the old fashioned plants. They need little care, and do their thing proudly and magnificently. Some years they incredibly bright blue, and I'm a sucker for blue anyway. They chose to fill in this neglected space on their own, and I couldn't be happier!
Celeste:
We just purchased Sandwort this year and already I am in love with it. Tell me, does it spread much?
Shirley:
That's so wonderful that the Forget-Me-Nots did that for you. What a pretty picture!
Indeed, Candyce - it's nice when someone helps with the chores! If they hadn't moved in, the ivy would have. How they managed to push that out I don't know, but I'm very glad!
Candyce...not sure about the sandwort, just got it myself!
Oh well. Can't blame a gal for trying to find out the scoop on a new plant baby. I guess we'll both find out together and compare notes.
Side view of the front. Still have spots to fill in. The area in the forefront is tough. The plow always dumps a huge pile in this area so it can remain wet for a long time. The soil itself is well draining and even a bit sandy. It's all-day sun and not usually irrigated much. So my approach has been to use drought-resistant type plants, but depending on how long the pile of snow/ice is there, it can look bad come spring.
very nice shots all
Celeste - what is that deep blue iris?
Very nice, Deb. I don't think I have any of those.
Same, but with a mass on top. Not thrilled with this look. Kind of freaky to me and detracts from the JM. If they were distributed throughout it might be better. And after the blooms are over, it will just be this mass of foliage up there. So next year I will either try to guide the stems throughout the tree - not easy, or move it.
Wow - what a collection tonight of gorgeous flowers!
Pixie - I'll be all over those yellow and white iris's if you are able to bring some to the RU! I also love your bright blue iris and the sandwort you and Candyce have!
Miss Fab - Congrats on your lupine bloom.....how exciting!
Deb - your durandi is gorgeous!
Dyane - like your colorful gnome poppies!
Victor - love that coppertina (never heard of it!) and that side front view of your yard is spectacular! You have a perpetual autumn look there.....love it!
I finally have a few blooms to share.....the first one is trollius/globe flower:
I love Flowering Crab ! And your globe flower is huge...mine looks like a pee-on in comparision!!
