Love that big lollipop look. Wow - lots of big events going on for you!

Keene, NH(Zone 5a)

yes, the college grad affected me more than i expected- my folks plus other family people were all there- just the realization of these huge passages- how does it all happen so fast! dd in the blue dress will be starting college next year, and gee.. she's the youngest.....

Great pictures everyone. victor I love that combination of phsocarpus and sedum. That's a really rare color combo!!!

I'm just posting one picture here of plants that suffered heat damage in the heat wave a week and a half ago. Truely heat damaged planted are very rarely seen over my way. but if you want to see a few more examples (heat damage manifests itself many different ways :-( ) then click on this link http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/849334/ and I posted some pictures at the bottom. I think that the worst of the damage is still yet to show up and in so many different ways. the pics there are maybe 1/7 of the plants that I have that I know of so far that are damaged.

This is one of two affected hydrangeas

WOW hope the plants recover Redchick.
We are having the opposit problem cold too long this spring, Elninjo "BEGONE"
Debilu: wish I had an explanation for iris blooms here. The lavenderblues at the side of the garage get earlysun most of the morning and are either an early variety or just in a place that warms up sooner in spring.
They are also going out of bloom while the huge dark purples are just starting.
Guess blooming doesn't depend on "what" the plant is but "where" it is planted.
Loved your plant pictures- Jo Ann

JoAnn, last night as I was fixing dinner I looked out the window and noticed the veriegated iris in the front garden were blooming. When I came home, I was carrying my gym bag, dry cleaning and 2 bags of groceries, so think I just walked by without noticing. Went straight out back with my laptop. The ones in back will probably open in a few days.

HOW did you like the low temps last night.
I just reordered some replacements from Rosydawn and they came yesterday afternoon, planted them at5:00, hope they don't croak.
I didn't see any frost anywhere but the lows are really getting to me.Pocketbook wise.Wish I had the strait track to the long term weather so I wouldn't plant annuals until it's safe.

I was surprised it was as cold last night, tonight too. Hopefully that's the end.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Now that the day is brighter I looked and we did gat FROST last night. It's on the lawns and cars, hope my new coleus in pots survived and the ones under the trees are OK.
I'm really pi----

Nice shots everyone - last night was good for pics after the rain that moved through.

Here is another of the jm shirazz - the inside of the leaves are starting to turn green. The four I saw yesterday at the nursery in full sun are still pink. thinking about moving around the shirazz to orangeola spot for more sun, orangeola to autumn moon and autumn moon to here.

thoughts?

yes red blood behind it now and i think the autumn moon that is yellow would look good there now. and after seeing the shirazz yesterday in full sun - i was not kidding - they were stunning and i checked the leaves out and they showed no signs of damage. Where it would go only gets late afternoon sun. if i am going to make the move should do it before roots get established.

here is the quarts rock i mentioned yesterday somewhere.

Beautiful stone, Bill. I'll keep that in mind about Shirazz - and watch yours! Guess you just need to make sure it gets enough water.

Beautiful, Bill! How much property did you say you have?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Beautiful gardens both of you.
I have a question.
Does "vulgaris" in the plant name mean it has an over volunteering habit?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

here is the front vibernum. That is my neighbors house, don't want to create a false impression.

victor i have about 1 3/4 acres. it is a weird lot with the front thin and the back spreading like a triangle. Some of the "land" may include the real pond in the back I'm told. Never really looked at the plot plan in detail to see if that was true.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - lucky you!

Bill ~ great photos.
You certainly have quite the eye for landscaping. I see land, and I start dreaming, but it is mostly for naught, as it's not my land to landscape!
LOL!
