My Gambel's Quail chicks have started hatching and I was so excited to get this pic of daddy and his babies on one of their first dinner outings.

"Daddy said all you have to do is flap your wings like this and you can fly too!"

(Sorry it's blurry; but too cute to delete.)

Very sweet Jane!

The House Martins at the neighbour's have finished the outside of the nest but were both in an out today so must be lining it. It was then very dull and I was checking my settings and trying it out to see if the pic would come out OK when one flew into the shot!

There is only a very narrow slot at the top for them to get into, this pic shows it.

One going in...they seem to have to squeeze themselves in or out.

I just love everyone's pictures. Pelle, I don't know how you take those in-flight photos! I tried to get one. He looks a million miles away b/c I didn't have the zoom out, but if I had, he would have been passing too fast for me to even find him.

I thought of you Angele feeding your roadrunner b/c everytime I see this hawk, I want to stick a steak up on a pole. The poor guy is missing so many feathers from little birds attacking him that I don't know how he stays up there.

wallaby... that is amazing they can do that!

pelle...fantastic hawk shot!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

I saw this little nest in my tree and I thought 'what little bird has made that nest.' Imagine my surprise. It's a big, lumbering White-Winged Dove! I think this nest is made of pine needles. Doesn't it look like she's going to fall right through!
