She's about to ....

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Mine all have leaves, must feed them a lot! Good luck! C

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Kim, I have MG seeds left over but they are mixed not all the midnight blue like my pix. These are pink, baby blue, white and purple. D-mail me an address if you want them. I lost a trellis and an arbored swing during an ice storm last winter, so did not have a place to really plant them. Sigh, I lost a lot of things during that storm. I am not going to dwell on that now. :))

On the "Y" topic, I read somewhere that the "Y" has to be a natural formation on the plant, not where a cane has been cut off and a branch comes off the side. I know on my one brug I can't tell if its a true Y or not.

Kim can you explain better? Or maybe we need to call AuntB.... AuntB, hello?? Newbies need help??

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

nooo I am not sure yet.. I need an expert..lol

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

I dmail the person who gave me my cuttings, and expert in the field, and he told me that i will probably get a bloom out of the y's. I'll try to take a pic later of my rooted cuttings and post it! Clemen

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Howdy!!!! I got my cutings at seasons end for me..so I just was trying to overwinter them they would have bloomed Iguess if I had a greenhouse or better lighting. Calling AuntB calling AuntB!!!!! Maybe there are some other experts watching : ) I just know the Y is the sign of blooms to come.

Peg you are a sweet heart! You remember! And I guess we do not want to let go of this tread haha! Clem
Raining here, cloudy and cool, I guess our boating day will be cancelled!

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Happy Anniversary CLEM and SWEET HUBBY!!!!

Please.. clem... "blow" some cooler air down here and some RAIN we are soo dry...LOL

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Beck thanks a million! I will blow so hard that you'll get it by tomorow, promise. I know dry times can be hard on everyone as well as wet ones, Can never be happy with what we have right? Clem

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Beck:

I got 1.5 inches last night but with 50+ straightline winds. I have several plants that are now topless, but not the brug. No tornados though but I was so tired I would have probably slept through it. Scary thought!

Clem, sorry about your boating day was cancelled. But, nothing can cancel your anniversary on you!

I have D-mailed AuntB to help us but have not seen her around lately, which is unusual for her. Hope everything is okay up in Kansas.

Nap time, just got off of work! Peg

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Peg, the best day of my life today, no boating no problem, I found brugs at my local nursery! I felt like a little kids, did not know which one to choose, bought three of them, the ones I do not have! Hubbie did not get mad when he saw them, I said to him I got you a gift from Lord and Taylors and I got myself three new brugs! Happy girl today! Sorry about your planst, you must be so heart broken!

Clemen

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

clem, I told you nothing would ruin your anniversary!  Three new brugs?  Which ones??  (Tee Hee, like I would know, I'll have to look them up)     I'm so excited for you.. :) and your anniversary's not over til midnight...LOL you can have anniversaries every day.. I know.

I only lost one annual totally and I think that plant was just not supposed to be here.  Back in April, I found it a local nursery, a condryline (sp?).  .  A week later, my neighbor's brakes went out and she backed through my yard and crashed it, pot and all.  They paid to replace it.  So, I started all over again and had trouble finding the same plant.   That wind last night broke my second one at the ground.  I think someone is trying to tell me that I don't need this plant at all.

So, now I need all my bruggies to help me think of a tall specimen plant to go in a 36" pot.  It's way too shaded for a brug.   This is the first planting April below...   I have elephant ears behind it and multi-colored caladiums in the bed next to it.

The rain was wonderful though, so if I lost one plant, especially that one.  Oh, well.  Peg

Peg, it could have been worse, poor plant, what is not meant to be is not meant to be, I agree with you!

Well the brugs are Pink Beauty, Brazilian Yellow and Variegata Brug. We'll see what happens, here is a pic of them today! So happy, I also saw others there that had other names but the leaves were all yellow, so I passed on the opportunity. I saw a whole of others at another nursery, those were huge, too expensive about $70. It is so rare to find brugs around here, so for me that was a super treat. Clemen

Happy Anniversary!!! Lucky in love and lucky getting new brugs : ) I just adore the variegated one! Peg glad all that was lost was that cordyline.. I llike them too....maybe try a Persian shield plant pretty iridesent purple it can take part sun I sure hope AuntB swings by to help us out. : )
Kim

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Clem, those brugs are beautiful. I especially like the variegata, too. Wow! They look very healthy. Lucky lady...:))

Kim, I have four Persian shields in back. They grew 3 ft high last year and I just adore them. Talk about shimmering in the sunlight. That pot is in pure shade when my trees leaf fully out and I don't know how the Persians would do. I'm still thinking and looking around, so we'll see.

I meant it seriously when I said I hope everything is all right with AuntB. There have been some wicked tornadoes going north of us into Kansas and I really have not seen her post anywhere in the last few days. She's probably on a cruise to the Bahama's and I'm all worried! :)))

Nice pic!! Now you have me thinking maybe AuntB is sailing : ) I hope so!!!

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Clem, your Brazilian Yellow is not even in the plant files yet, just the Brazilian White. So you may have found something really special there, one of the newer hybrids. If it blooms, you can be the first one to put it in the files. Our Clem, the brug queen!
That's too great!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Kim, I hope you are right, Auntb sailing, you get attached to nice people right? This is why we are not letting go of your tread, we should start a new one!
Peg, oops, made a mistake, just looked at the tag, it says Jamaican Yellow! Sorry, I do not know what it looks like. Clemen

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Yes you do get attached..AuntB was there while I waited for my rare red brug to open...NOT ; ( it was yellow... evil company!!! She nick-named it Red and it was beautiful to me. Thats it in a few posts above. What should be the topic of our new thread???

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Clem.. Ty for the blowing winds..lol and believe it or not we got a very little shower..lol and today was the first day in over a week that we haven't had 25-40 mile an hour winds... I am grateful for not much wind today. I had to bring my brugs inside, but the rest of my stuff looks like a hurricane came through... congrats on the brugs.. I want first dibs of a cutting on that varigated one..hehe

Kim sorry about your bloom... but you will have more... clems winds must have got you first, and pettered out before "she" blew in toTX....LOL

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

I'll leave them out all year... unless it gets really really cold, our winteres here are about 30* at night.
DH has promised to build a green house.... but lots of other projects first! LOL!
He just built this mini model of the arbor that will be built this weekend. arbor is going at the 'end' of my 'brug walk' . it will cover the steps that lead to the lower level.

model of course will become garden art! LOL! he even made mini steps and mini lattice to match our lattice decorative fence!
