Daily Pics Vol. 111

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Yep, brush piles are very valuable, 'specially if made with thorny brush, ideal cover to hide from cats, etc.

You're welcome GP...I enjoyed your pics of the Indigo's so much this winter this is just a payback. I don't think I would have looked for them had it not been for you. I feed them Finch food like you did and they go to those feeders constantly so I just assume they are from Florida!! Here is a thru the window shot of what I see all day long...don't they look fat?!! They are no longer shy and don't let the others push them around!

Regarding the brush piles: We originally started "saving" them hoping to lure some Bob-white Quail...still no Quail but the other birds have really used them lots! That's good news Resin...we have lots of thorny brush in those piles!! I've never walked by any of them without see birds coming and going in and from them!

Rose, you have a pair too, yeah!!!

I have been spotting babies today the 2 that got away though with no pic were the flicker and the grackle.

Starling Fledglings...I wouldn't trust them...they look evil!

I think this was a Cardinal Fledgling up in the tree, not ready to come down yet...I saw a female fly to it.

It's nice to be back. I was in Georgia greeting my Army son upon his return from Iraq.

Love the bathing birdies, tigerlily. Always enjoy seeing red-bellied, pelle. Nifty red-headed woodie - I've never seen one, and killdeer, dell. I've seen small birds chase hawks. The little guys can be so bold. I didn't know meadowlarks were so colorful - beautiful. Glad the vireo was okay, crazy.

I can't help but love all the babies - starlings, too!

Can anyone help i.d. this little guy? He certainly had a huge voice! I'll post a second shot.

I saw him at the nature preserve nearby. He was near a pond, and paying no attention to me!

Down from railing ready to attack the Meow Mix -- checking to see if anyone is watching him.

After he had his Meow Mix fix, he flew to one of the feeders and struck three poses for me. Dirty Bird is featured in poses one, two, and four. Pose three is by one of his relatives.

LOL, GP...good one! Great shots btw and I love the two WP together.

Nanny, looks like you are feeling better! You must be on nest watch seeing all the little ones...I haven't seen very many youngs ones yet!

OP...glad your Son has returned safe and sound! Nice pics but can't help with the ID!

GG...I think you are spoiling those BlueJays!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

lmao Gardenpom! Maybe he left his panama hat in his suitcase.

OP that looks like a housewren to me.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Yes am feeling much better today...amazing what a couple thousand mg. of Amoxicillin can do for you in 24 hrs.!

Op...can't help you either except with the pair of Mallard Ducks. We have a new Bird Identification Forum though. I am very glad your son is home safely. Tell him 'thank you' for me.

GG...Love the jays!

Great & very enjoyable photos everyone! Congratulations on the rescue crazybirdlady51/
I have a couple photos of a baby Thrasher. This is a pretty big baby :-)

Thumbnail by angele

Here it is after eating, much better focus but it really was hyper while it was yelling for food!

Thumbnail by angele

Rudy (Roxanne?) is also bringing a baby by to get food too! I've taken a bunch of photos but baby (almost as big as parent) is still shy. It is so cute watching these Roadrunners.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh, then maybe she is Rudi. With an I. and she dots it with a heart .

You crak me up Mrs_Ed, LOL!

Wilmar, AR(Zone 8a)

OP, I think your bird is some type of wren but I can't make out all it's markings. And the ducks look like mallards
Great pics everybody! I love the Blue Jay pics Granny!

Anchorage, AK(Zone 4a)

Walking in the park this afternoon, his dark-eyed Junco flew up between my feet, and startled me. I just barley missed stepping on her nest.

Great shots everyone! Glad all worked out Gary.

Wow, that baby was a blur, ange! Very cute.

I always wondered what a junco's nest/eggs looked like. Thanks Gary.

Thanks for helping me, mrs. ed and crazy.

Will do, nanny, and I'll check out the i.d. forum.

Have a great and safe Memorial Day folks.

Now that I have had my morning "fix" of the great pictures here to get me going, it is time to get going! Tons of landscaping to do today.

Gary...I miss the Juncos...that is a great shot of the Warbler also!

Nanny...Queen of the WP's!

Not a great pic of an Eastern Towhee but I never realized that the tail was spotted and his underparts (not underpants) were yellow!!

I don't even know where to begin to comment on the pictures on this thread. They are just unreal! Love them all!

I just posted on the last thread. I'm obviously totally out of it. Sorry. Anyway, found this baby by the house. He's making a lot of loud churring noises. Haven't seen a parent yet. There's a house sparrow nest nearby. Is that what he is? Seems to have such big feet!
