Daily Pics Vol. 111

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

LOL...about the underparts rose! Amazing what one finds out from those odd angle shots, isn't it? Congrats on the Pewee!

I am hoping to see little thrashers very soon!

Could be a starling Elphaba.

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Nice Roadrunner pics....do you have any idea what the baby is being fed?

gardenpom, meat scraps from the grocery

Cramlington, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

I'm really enjoying everyone's pics.
Here are an inseparable pair, every time I visit this local country park this goose and swan are together. The swan is easily recognisable by its damaged wing.

Wow those roadrunner photos are fabulous!

Melbourne, FL

That's neat. I guess otherwise the parents would be catching lizards, etc.

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

It's great to see everyone pics, Some I'll probably never see except here.
I also love the eggs photos and babies.

Have a few to share, not new birds though, just regulars.

Here is a female Evening Grosbeak.

I will ask Terry to remove my photo Gardenpom :-(
I started feeding Rudy after I saw him/her kill a bird at my feeders. I do see him catch lizards still but I have not seen him kill a bird since. Sorry everybody. I was happy to see the baby. Sorry to cause offence.

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

On the same branch, just before the female came in.

What offence angele? I'm confused..

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

I just love those roadrunner pictures! Don't take them off. Can't believe that little bird is going to eat that big piece of meat. I don't see anything offensive about it. We share pictures of hawks all the time.
Mrs. Ed, that warbler is just gorgeous and what a nice photo you got of him!
Burn, beautiful!

This youthful robin just stopped right outside the window as I was typing this! Wasn't that convenient.

Yah, ditto on the offense????

I was curious as to if Rudi chomped it up and then was regurgitating it like some birds do or if that was a whole piece?

Marlton, NJ

There is no problem whatsoever angele. Please leave those beautiful pics of the roadrunner!

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Angele ,Sorry about the lost, but don't take that nice picture away. That's how life is in the animal world, some make it , others fall prey. He's still very beautiful to me. And love the baby.

You know, here's a funny story about that warbler. DH was taking me on a walk (part of my cervical fusion surgery post-op rehab, lol) and we were strolling along our local canal. I heard lots of birds but couldn't see any. I was joking that they needed to come and pose for me as I can't bend my neck back and look into the trees, etc. And suddenly there he sat!!! We did have a Robin come and pose. It was very sweet of him/her.

Love the Swans, Robins and Goldfinches!

Burn...Those Grosbeaks are just beautiful...I would love to see one! I still can't get over you not having any snow!

Angele...I love the newest pics of Rudi and baby and I'm not offended. Thanks for posting them!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

When y'all told me my baby was a starling, I thought 'that's good b/c now I don't have to worry about what happens to him.' I really don't like starlings, but I can hardly stand this. Where is his momma? He even left the protection of the brush and came out on the path hoping she would find him. He's by the pond now which is not a very safe spot. Sometimes nature is hard to watch.

When I saw the daffodils around burn's pool, I thought the same thing Mrs. Ed. - no snow! Yay for burn! Love the evening grosbeaks - the yellow brow on the male looks like a scowl.

Rose - I hear the pewees at the nature preserve, but I've never seen one!

Wonderful pictures.

Orchard Park, NY

Elphaba - I'm usually a firm believer in letting nature take its course, but . . . I think starlings are like robins, once they are out of the nest they aren't going to stay in it. Usually momma keeps feeding them while they learn to fend for themselves in the bushes. No sign of her? Sometimes they intentionally kick sick babies out of the nest.

Is there a wildlife rehabilitator in your area? Maybe a vet has a number to call.

It's hard to tell if Baby's tail feathers are developed yet. He looks pretty young. He won't make it on his own. Let me know if you're going to collect him. I'm an assistant rehabber.

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

Wonderful pictures everyone. Love the crow with the bread.

What offense Angele? Please do not remove the roadrunner pictures. They are so great. I look forward to seeing them. That baby is a hoot!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

OP, I was distracted for a bit and forgot all about him. He's still out there. He has flies buzzing all around him and landing on him, but he's still calling for his mom. Is it normal for flies to be attracted to him like that? Maybe I'll just take him into the front yard. I've seen the starlings out there. I haven't seen any in the back today.

Hebron, KY

Great pics everyone!

Dell - just now getting to the new thread - great multi-tasking! :)

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

This little fellow only appears near dusk (for some strange reason). I did manage to get this picture of him. He appears to be getting a bit chubby.

The late evening light gave an interesting coloration to the branches of the Mock Orange bush.

Elphaba - I don't know why flies would be attracted to the baby.

Orchard Park, NY

Granny - what color! Beautiful bunting.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

MRS. ED!!!! Great catch & congrats! I have soo been concentrating on the thought that you would get get to see something new today! And those baby goslings are too cute also!

angele... love Rudi and the baby!

Elphaba... sometimes nature knows best. There could be something wrong with it and the mother kicked it out. But you have to do what you can live with.

I spotted a Brown Thrasher Fledgling today...could only get one good pic!
