I thought I had already sent this? White Wings and Red Ruffles. maybe. I am having a senior moment. They are the strap-leaf, though, so that narrows them down.

It's Florida Sweetheart and White Wing. low blood sugar moment. Red Ruffles is a coleus!!!!!!!

Lake Placid, FL(Zone 9b)

There is a caladium called Florida Red Ruffle. It's very closely related to FL Sweetheart. The same guy from the University of Florida developed both of them.
Here's a pic

Florida Red Ruffle- not bad! What year was it introduced, sir?

Lake Placid, FL(Zone 9b)

It was released in 2000 or 2001, I think, I can find out for sure. The gentlemen that developed it was Dr. Gary Wilfret. When the farms get a new variety from the U of FL it takes "several" years before there's enough generated to where it becomes available to the public. It was released to the public in 2004 if I remember correctly.
There's a new one that'll be released in a year or two that I'm really looking forward to. It's tentatively being named Cranberry Star. It looks similar to Marie Moir. There will be a couple new reds released next year that are alright.
I'm working on one too. That is my ultimate dream!!

I Love, Love, Love all the pictures! Bill...you've been holding out on me with these different varieties! hehe.

Actually, I'm very happy with mine...they are the best stock and are so hearty! I've read on other threads about peope questioning where to buy Caladium bulbs. Before I came acrross Bill at Caladiums4Less, I did buy some other bulbs from Home Depot etc. Could never even compare!

Here's a before picture...

These are my extras. I just had to get them planted so they went into some old pots my Dad gave me. Not what I would have picked but the Caladiums look beautiful. I post a few pictures of the window boxes when they fill out later and some from my parents house theirs are looking wonderful.

Until something else replaces these, they will remain my favorite Caladium. Thai Beauties. This is their second year in a pot.

Well that didn't take long...I'm thinking Galaxy caladiums are my favorite today! I popped two bulbs into this container and the results are amazing. They tolerate sun and are huge growers.

A combo of Coleus, Sweet Potato vine and Caladiums...I start out planting annuals with these foliage plants and when they can't stand the heat, I'm left with these gorgeous leafy beauties.

kat,

They're looking good!!
I have some Miss Muffet that's looking good too! I'll get a pic of mine tomorrow.
There's a leaf on the Galaxy I have that is un-believable!!! In fact it's the pic above. The leaf is shaped just a little different and it's HUGE!!! Mine is getting allot of shade and the pink spots are really magnified!!

Here are a few of mine. Not quite as lush yet as you Fl. guys but getting there fast. I think these are mostly Gingerland and Arron. You can see a few of the White Christmas and Florida Sweetheart in the back. These are sitting in several large blue pots by my front entry. The pot in the back with the WC and FS are the ones that I cut back so they are looking a little empty but I'm hoping they will fill in.

Here are several mixed pots. Not the prettest of pots but I used what I had. With plants this pretty nobody notices the pots anyway.

The Caladiums look great Holly! Finally, I'm so glad to see others are starting to emerge!

I like your little lion too! Sweet!

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

I thought I'd post a shot of my window boxes. They are not completely filled in yet there is one more Aaron that is just a little slower than the rest and of course what is showing will fill in as the season progresses. I have 2 each of Rose Bud and Aaron in my boxes. The Morning Glories haven't started blooming yet either and have a lot of growing to do as well. But I thought you might like to see them anyway.

I finally moved some Frieda Hemples out to the porch container-garden. These were the second batch of caladiums I started, and I was still starting them one bulb in each six-inch pot. This is three pots worth, with a Rex Begonia in the midst of them.

The pot in back is waiting for the Fire Chiefs that are germinating now. :)

This is the view from the sidewalk, through the gate. I moved the Rex back from the edge of the pot, and moved the pot back deeper into the porch; the Rex seems happier that way.

dp72, I'd be interested in seeing how that turns out. I planted Ornamental Sweet Potatoes in mine last year but in the front to cascade down over the front of the boxes.

Bartlesville, OK(Zone 6a)

Except for Kathleen which I didn't know you had, I owe my wonderful caladium display to biLL!

Here we go...
