A garden in progress...
LOL!
More like 'good morning'! My goodness! What beautiful photos of your beautiful plant babies. I love the succulents. They will look great in their containers. You've done a marvelous job, and I'll bet that all the aches and pains are well worth the effort!
Wow!

only 26 days for you guys to come!!!!
Everything is so beautiful. Your roses are spectacular. I've never had any luck with them.
Out of the six that we have purchased, only one is still thriving!
We just seem to have much luck either.
Kassia, I bet those roses smell so nice, I got a few rose cuttings from my neighbor this week-end, old fashion ones, oh my God,the smell is so pretty, it is so sweet that it smell like fruits. Do yours have a fragrance? Clem
Candyce and Mattsmom - roses are not that bad... sun, water and good air circulation... I love rugosas... they grow and grow... and they are good for us in the NE... really great roses...and very low maintanance... I would totally recommend them to anyone that has no luck with roses...
I will help you guys if you want... I have several that I would recomend... good ones...
Clem, I have several that smell wonderful... rugosas have great smell... and you are right old roses are really increadible fagrance... Marhesa Bocella, Souvenier de Malmaison, Sombreil, Hansa, Rosarie de La Hay are some that are amazing... ah, Royal Amethyst is another one... Evelyn Rose is so absolutely wonderful... and many other Austins so amazing... I really go for fragrance...
and you are right... some smell like rose apple... a fruit we use to eat in Brazil... actually I have tasted some of my roses... lol...
Kassia ~
Thanks for the pep talk about growing roses. Anna is determined to have a rose garden, and by gosh, she will! We will be asking lots of questions about roses, I'm sure. And, I hope you don't mind answering them from time to time.
Oh my God kassia, I used to eat "manzanitas rosas" too when I lived in Nicaragua, have never met anyone in the States that ate those, and you are right, that is the smell of the rose I got from my neighbor. She told me the name and I forgot it! A little while ago, I found the rose apples in Chinatown here in NY, they sell there a lot of tropical fruits, Clemen
Beautiful!
Clem, I will look for them next time I go to Chinatown.... good to know...
Candyce I can talk about roses all day and night... I did that with Zuzu when I went to visit her last fall... I think if I was to go there now it would be the same... maybe worse...
Thanks, Clemen! I love it. Right now it is full of buds. My DH just told me he also put the wood ash on our Friendship Garden roses last fall......maybe that's why they all look their best ever!
Donniebrook, please send me her scent.. .....Clemen
Wow, Kass - I just found this forum. Great yard. I remember when you started with a rose ... so brilliant. Too bad I'm in zone 6 but too far away for the RU. :( Have fun.
you should come Peg!!!!
well, if all goes ok, I will have irises to plant this coming fall!!!! 80 irises... people check the iris co-op... really great prices...
I want to, really do. I am in VA though.
Kassia, have you looked at the Blue J Iris website? Tons of irises, and great prices, and mine have all been true so far.
And don't forget the beardless irises. Siberians go great with roses.
I'm waiting for the mustached ones...
Kassia, I saw your order on the co-op, and it looked like more than 100!!
Kassia that rose disneyland at the top of the thread - is it one bloom? It looks fantastic and your gardens look great too. Saw that thread on your neighbor - ignore it and keep going. very nice!
Well forget Blue J if you already ordered 100 from the co-op. Don't look, Kassia, don't look.
I'll have to go check out your list too.
But seriously, order some medians, the smaller iris, like Standard Dwarf Bearded, too, you'll be really glad you did, they bloom ahead of the tall bearded, and are such a welcome treat. And a good place to get them is Mid America.
Which are the small ones that bloom very early?
Thanks, Patti. I need to get some.
well, I have to plant irises between some tall roses... I am so new to irises I have no idea what to get! but I am sure you guys will teach me...
Saturday - very hot day... but I have been outside since 8 am... I am hot, tired and hungry... took at least 300 pics already... so here goes my garden today...I have some new roses to plant when it cools down a little!
New blooms;
Crown Princess Margareta - I missed her so much!
