Thanks everyone.... your love, support and encouragement are an inspiration to me... I was thinking the other day that in fact what you guys say matters more than any other person... if it was not for you guys I would not be able to do all I did... really important stuff....
well, I just hope you guys have a chance to come here in June and see mature plants... I still have to finish the turtle garden... I hope to have a nice place for them... it's still cold to let them outside for a long time...
A garden in progress...
Oh Kassia! I am so in love with your gardens. Everything looks so gorgeous, even the container gardens. And I am in love with that DisneyLand rose. Oh my GOSH, it's so beautiful!!!
I didn't know weather to post on Weather or new garden in progress but this hits both
The weather is gray and cold with short bursts of sun so I feel like going out to work on my shade garden project.
Removing the mulch and soil from barrier plastic around the pines, took me two weeks but the last two sections were done this AM so I can plant the Acer and Rhodies comming in a few weeks
Disreguard the writting on the first photo. It's a before and after shot where the woodpile was removed.
That's going to look really good!!
Will you be adding hosta as well?
That's beautiful, Jo Ann. I'll bet it's taking a lot of back-breaking work. You have given me an idea for part of our backyard, though.
I have been promised hosta from Redchick and Venu
Thought I had scored this morning but someone spoke up before me for Venu's Blue Angel division, Redchick will dig next year as well as Venu, the spots are marked, I'll just wait.
There are a lot of BIG plants such as Bears Breeches, Ligularia, Fall Anemone and Martagon Lilies. Not mature enough to show now.Ligularia is a new plant from Bluestone so in a few years they will be fuller.
Looking great Jo Ann...
Jo Ann, that is this year for the divisions. As in a few months!! :~) Looking great for your shade garden. I started a shade garden 2 years ago as a footnote. It has become my favorite place. So serene and so undemanding. It has become my favorite place to unwind after work.
the problem wiith a shade garden are the slugs and snails, they love to eat the lovely leaves that come with it.........I have a doggie, named Copo, so I trow every week, some sort of snail/slug killer, pet friendly which costs and arm and 50 legs, anyway, it is the only way to keep the garden going! Clem
Venu: You can see where the blue angels will be welcome.
I also have an Acer Palm. Spring Delight comming with three red rhodies.
Clem ~ thank you for that shade gardening tip. I never would have realized that slugs and snails like the cool and damp on my own, but now that you mention it, it makes perfect sense! (Duh!!)
Kassia your yard is just gorgeous. Why would the neighbors complain? The containers look good you just need some trailing/vine in it.
Wow - great pics, and I'm astounded that your roses are already blooming! It won't be until later next month that mine will. The new ones might not at all.
Kassia, do you know the name of the red-yellow primroses you have? I have some too, and I'd like to identify them. For hat matter, I don't care much for the color of them and would be glad to part with some if anyone is interested in a swap.
thanks... I have the first blooms opened!!! Tuscan Sun ... and Lady of Guadalupe... oh they are gorgeous roses!!!
I have no idea the name of the primroses... sorry but I throw it away last year...
What a piece of work Kassie.Looks beautiful.
great work....... love those metal planters
Kassia:
Your layout and all that hard work you have really created a beautiful garden area.
I love your edging with the cement block and then your idea to put dirt with plants in the center is FANTASTIC!
I hope you don't mind but I'm thinking I'm going to use your idea. I've been searching and searching for a different type of edging for my new flower beds and I think this might fit the bill.
thanks for sharing your wonderful photos. I know all the hard work you have been doing, as I'm in the process of doing the same thing....lol
Your roses are already blooming? Wow!
Kassia - your gardens are looking wonderful! I love that rose walk, and your "small containers" pic and all of your beautiful primroses and roses......Wow! PS - Your neighbor's yard looks boring. LOL
Oh Kassia,
I don't go too often into this forum but was going to post something when I saw your wonderful thread.
It looks great !! alot different from last year,I really like it alot.
Wow, Kassia! You've been busy! It looks fantastic. I can't wait to see it in person.
