Spring Blooms - Part 10

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice, Tommy. The flame weeder is very good for weeds between stones, pavers, etc.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Candyce and Jo Anne - Thanks for those great tips on the weeds between the bricks. I don't think I've ever used vinegar there, and that roller idea is great to keep from hurting other things with Roundup. Of course, Victor's flame thrower idea may be my answer if those gallant soldiers come back this year!

Tommy - those are gorgeous shots of your pretty iris's!

tommyr!
Hi there. I haven't seen you posting in a while. How have you been? You have some beautiful photos there.

And, hi, to you abbyday. That's a great color on the ... rose?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

redchick - i think i have to move my carnival - the leaves are crispy - too much moring sun.
A few years ago i was in Nepal hiking and was in the towm (Two huts) where the last yeti sighting was. Went deep off trail - saw nothing.

The things you miss when you focus on the flora rather than the fauna!

Finally! 'Batik' in all it's splendor. Well, 1 bloom from the buds, the rest will open in a few days or so!

Candyce,
I am great! I post on numerous forums here so unless I have something to say, add or post I stay quiet. Thanks for asking!

Bill... Is it the same in Nepal as it is here? That the locals report the fewest sightings and the newer folks and travelers that report the most of them. That's one phenomena that I've always wondered about. I don't know anybody from this area who has ever seen one, yet there've been so many reported that the discovery channel filmed a documentary on the Yeti saga in this area a year or two ago!!!! about a 15 mi. from where I live. It was quite the ordeal for this little town :-p I hope that you're carnival gets back to normal soon. The largest one that i've seen in person was still in it's pot (20 gal I think) and 6-7' tall. It actually did just fine with filtered morning light and sun in the afternoon from about 1-5p.m. Not sure if that info helps.... but it was a pretty tree. If I ever get caught up on all the gardening around here I will scan in the standard film picture that I took of it. It's really pretty.

another picture of purple splendour, but fully open. The flowers are smaller than usual this year on many of the rhody's, i'm guessing it's due to the really late snow. At least many of the buds survived though!

The cannon's double azalea's, pretty much at the height of their bloom although, it was really the wrong light to show off all their colors. But, I knew it was the only time I was goin to get to get in some pictures yesterday.

I know it's hard to believe, but this cute azalea grew into that shape on it's own, and maintaned that shape all on it's own for 3 or 4 years after I brought it home. Then only a year or two ago it suddenly decided to try to grow like a normal azalea. well.... it just looked to cute like that, so it has to stay that way. I might let it get a little larger. What do you all think?

a slightly different view of it.

One of my messy beds that needs to be cleaned up and thinned. But the Ebony Pearl rhody has finally perked up after the heat wave and it picture worthy again, although the flowers are a little "bleached out" due to the heat and it's due to have a few limbs pruned after it finishes blooming.

I just had to throw this pic in. I think most of you saw the video of my cat praying (begging) for something. Well, with the additional family visiting this weekend, she's not sure who she should to go to beg for what. So she's sitting between three people capable of reaching her treats, but facing me (not in reach of treats) while trying to get someone attention.

My allium is still only a bud...yours are very pretty! I'm jealous of your Trollis, i've been waiting 3 years to see mine bloom and it looks like it will be another year now. I think I need to move it!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

sorry to hear they still didn't bloom... better luck with the new spot

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

I think I just pulled a whole bunch, and tossed them :-( I have these weeds in/around my beds and they resemble the weed commonly called "buttercups." I thought that the Trollis (didn't know it last week) were double flowering/mutant buttercups. I don't every remember planting them, but if they do take some time to flower, that could very well be the reason. The landfill has a few clumps of Trollis now...crap-o-la.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

oops.... gotta hate it when that happens... I TRY and mark everything just for that reason

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Done that before Thom....last year DH found 'things' growing on top of the mulch pile out back. Viola's and an ugly old iris that refused to die!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

LOL.... wow is that harsh but funny
