Thanks Sherrie.you like the dark ones too?
I like Pinky-Peach
Spring Blooms - Part 10
Candyce..don't they just brighten your day?? I planted the bed for Auntie who is now 85 , she has been bringing her buddies from church by so she can show them.
Wow - roses already, Celeste?! Beautiful.
I got it early so I potted it up and it got a bud so I haven't put it in the ground yet. It's a sub-zero tea rose and the picture doesn't do the color justice.
What a pretty picture, Pixie!
Not fragrant but a hummer magnet! Not invasive at all. And cool how the flowers stick out from the flat leaves. Yes, one of the few oranges in my garden. I break my rules from time to time! This time was for the hummers. Saw one at it today.
very nice everyone!... but boy does that ivy make my skin crawl... I can say that is one of yours that i don't like for once Victor... I know I know.... it's rare
Why, Allison?
just one of those things..... I have no explanation really... just don't get into the ivy up the house thing... never really strikes me as a pretty thing... but it's just my taste.... as long as you love it that's all that matters
It's still an experiment for me. If it gets out of hand (it is Boston, not English ivy) a simple cut ends that. It's spectacular in spring and fall. If it makes its way onto the shingles, it will only be there until I do siding in a few years. In the meantime, it will help shade the southwest half of the house.
Candyce, It looks just like it....now, I have to admit the other picture did not. LOL
Thank you Polly....and the Iris you posted is on Thom's B-day thread is beautiful, does it have a name?
Victor, I was hoping you would say it was a hummer magnet as I planted a red honeysuckle for the same reason.
I couldn't imagine scraping down all the roots....... but if you are replacing the siding now that I wouldn't mind so much
one of my aunts had it up her house.... used to creep me out as a kid... like something was living behind it
I just re-did a bed a couple weeks ago, and knew I had Japanese painted fern, but thought it didn't survive the winter. The new bed is raised with a rock border. What did I see trying to grow under the edge of the rocks? The fern, it is now rescued. I did have 3, but...
Thanks, everyone, for the hopeful encouragement on the Red and White Lunas. I'll be so happy if I see some signs of green.
Patti - what a stunning slideshow of your gardens and home. Really spectacular place you have. My favorite is Winnie! LOL
Candyce - I love that Blushing Lady! I miss having tulips. An underground varmit helped himself to every one! I like the honeysuckle too!
Celeste - great shot of the bleeding hearts! Thom- love the lady slippers! RedChic.....very nice shots, especially like the rhodies. All of the leaves have been stripped off my one rhodie.
Sherrie - don't buy lilies of the valley......I'm bringing several to the RU. I wish they'd stay in bloom, but they'll probably be gone by. I've also dug some evening primrose & heliopsis for the RU.
There are so many beautiful pics on this thread....please keep 'em coming!
Oh, and Victor - that Autumn Moon is so stunning!
Thank you, Louise. I checked one of my hibiscus today and still don't see anything.
I am going to have to go practice some night shots.... i always love your shots
Thanks, Allison. The toughest thing is that the auto-focus is difficult. I usually bring a flashlight with me which helps, but forgot it tonight. Only about half of the shots came out well.
now that i can use manual mode (even though it's been quite a few years)... I picked up one of the better flashes for it now too... haven't tried it out yet...I have to pull out the tripod and go to work once it warms up... I always thought of photography this way... if I get one great picture out of a whole roll of film (when I used it).... it was a good day... even now I take many shots of whatever it is just because sometimes you don't know what you are going to get ... just now with the digital it's a whole lot cheaper to do that...
everyone that i used to ride with (horses) loved it when i was still in training and didn't barrel race yet.... i would be the photographer... go packing with several rolls of film and go to town... but once i started racing myself that mostly ended... except the bigger shows where I had time to set up and relax between runs to get everyone else ... there were a few who pouted when they found out our runs were close together and I couldn't get them
good smell or bad smell?
It smelled nice...it's just that everyone always seems to rave about the smell of LOTV, but even with the massive amount of it that I have, I never notice any fragrance. Have to pretty much get down on the ground to detect it, I guess.
Bill, I'm glad that those pics helped. There's always room for a Uki no matter how many other maples that you have!!! What were the other JM's that you got? I think that you already mentioned them somewhere above, but I didn't find it.
Great night shots Victor!
Great tulips Pixie!!!
