I have been working so hard over the weekend and today. Hubby too.
I took all of the cool weather plants out and replaced them with penta, coleous etc.
Here are some of the big coleus plants. I love them, always drawn to coleus!
A New May Blooms Thread
I didn't buy coleus this year as my front porch doesn't give them enough sun to be pretty.......
I just ordered from Brennan's the other night and I didn't see Shenendoah Shiloh. I have the other one and love it...........Shiloh is quite a beauty.
Hi everybody!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh, how I have missed these chat and share threads! I have been mainly lurking when I can get on-line the past few weeks, because I usually don't have time to really sit down and write... but I just got the internet back on at home (Yay!!!) so I wanted to join in too!
You all have such beauties! During my darkest (and coldest, literally) hours this past winter, I lost so many of my plants, but I have managed to hang on to some.
Still love my episcias the best, and every now and then they bless me with a bounty!
This is 'Showtime'... the whole plant...
Nancy, those are Beautiful Strep's! Love Shenendoah Sweet Talk ... Pink! So pretty!
Sally: I love Coleus too. Haven't bought any in many years but have a few that have survived a few years. Will post some pic's tomorrow. One of my favorites was ID'd here on DG last year, Coleus 'Chocolate Drop': http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/169367/
VA_Wild_Rose: Welcome back to the garden! There have been so many missing from the AV forum ... glad to see you back! That Episcia is wonderful!
Hey there lady,Glad your back! Thats a pretty episcia.Sorry to hear you lost your plants.
brenda,What a great trip you took!
Gail,your sinningia are so pretty,
Miss Lin,Love the columnea.
Nancy beautiful streps!
Hi Lin! Hi Jan! It's good to be back! I have missed it and y'all so much! I'll be back in full swing soon.
What can you say? The good Lord giveth, and the good Lord taketh away at times! Then He teaches you something really important, and He giveth again!
I have learned to listen much better!
Karen
Oh, that Sinn. leucotricha is so cute! That is just so cool the way it's growing! I received one in a trade from bmedel last year - put it in the terrarium and haven't seen it since! I don't know if it's just dormant or if it kicked the bucket! :(
Thank you Jan. I don't do so well with the Columnea's ... I'm surprised it has survived this long, I bought it over a year ago.
Lin... it's doing the spiral thing I guess because I turn it in the window! It is funny though.
Oh, I love the "spiral" form! What direction does your window face? If my little "Leuco" shows it's face again, I think I will pot it up and put it in a window. I have great east light windows!
This one is in my east window!
loving the new pictures, WildRose! Glad you are posting again in full swing.
gail
It's good to "see" you too, Gail! How have you been?
I have been great but my computer is real slow tonight.........it may be this long long thread as we try to wait until June to start another one(LOL).........
Why not start another thread for the last few days of May? Then begin a June thread on the 1st of June? I have high speed internet but this thread is taking a bit of time to load for me too.
Wild Rose. I would love to find your Showtime plant. I will be looking for one! I have Episcia's also.
Hi Sally,
Yeah... I really loved it when I first laid eyes on it too. I got mine off eBay last year. This thing just blooms and blooms and blooms! That photo was actually taken about a month ago. Let me see if I can get one right now....
WildRose good to see you back : ) That has got to be the prettiest episcia ever..The foliage alone makes it a knockout...I don't think I have ever seen one with that many blooms and the bloom color is amazing!
Hi Nancy! The bloom is what I fell in love with... but I do love the foilage too, just as much! Of all the varieties I have, 'Showtime' is definitely my favorite!
There are not any on Ebay now. I had looked earlier. Now I see that is where you got yours! It is gorgeous.
Hey Karen, So happy to see you back in the garden Missed ya much!
Wow, that Showtime is amazing!
I hang my head in shame that the last remaining episcia I have is a stolon of Kee Wee which I have broken down and put in a bubble bowl now.
I just couldn't seem to get them to thrive for me :(
That Sinn. leucotricha is SO cute too
Ki just shared a baby with me but it will be a while before it looks like yours LOVE LOVE LOVE those leaves
Nance, those are some great streps from Brennan's
Very nice, bright colors
Lin, wow you have some nice yellows blooming with that Columnea Carnival and Tecoma Sans/ "Yellow Elder". How cheery
Gail, your sinningias are just outstanding Ma'am I just LOVE Merry Christmas and can't wait to see it fully open. It amazes me how well you can grow things my friend!
I just love waking up and having my coffee here in the garden looking at all the new pictures every day
I hope everyone has a wonderful day
Kim

Hi Everyone,
Here is the fist picture of my bid Roulette Cherry bloom... I am so mad at myself because when I went to take it out I bent the stem of the bloom... Oh well more are coming up... I am going to also post a picture of the little one I have.. The first bloom did not open all the way and this one looks like this is all it is going to... Also the first bloom of my It makes scents strep.
Glad to see you back Karen.... :-) Loved the picture you sent.. I have one with orange and yellow but yours I believe is diffrent.
Hugs,
Susan
Susan that Roulette Cherry bloom is to die for..your mama plant looks wonderful and that baby is cute as a button..LOL..It Makes Scents has sure got a pretty bloom too..that one is supposed to be ascented one..does it smell like anything to you?..Love that bloom!
I can't smell anything when I smell it.. Maybe it is because it is its first bloom... I don't have a clue...LOL
Thanks for looking... I can't wait until the Azur grows and blooms...
Hugs,
Susan
Are you ready to laugh? Look at my leaf of Roulette Cherry! I tried the new wicking Volkmann's mix and overwatered the whole tray of leaves. My new ones I put down in the same mix are doing great because I have not overwatered and I am leaving them under a dome longer.
I have had some make babies that looked this bad so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Yours look great, Susan!
Any bets on this one!! (LOL)
WE have to have a new thread even if today is the 27th! I am going to start one and see if I can do the hyperlink thingy.
Gail has begun a new thread for us. Go to: The Last Few Days Of May Blooms: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/854765/
So sad I have no blooms on anythin' nuttin at all. :(
