Gail, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Fancy Pants
Yes, Hot Ticket came from me, which originally came from Brenda *lol* We keep it in the family :)
I have since totally lost my Hot Ticket which really bums me out as it was an anniversary gift :(
I was still REALLY learning in October when I received it and just totally "loved" it right to death :(

I've learned SO MUCH since then *lol* and am still learning every single day :)

Kim

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Susan, Kim and anyone else,
I am going to let these plants (the baby ones) grow for about a month and then I can send leaves to you.
In the meantime I am going to propagate sinningias and strep leaves coming my way......I also owe Brenda some leaves (I told her to make her list....she did......and I couldn't find the right ones. It was because they hadn't been planted up yet).........
Say a prayer for Roulette Cherry, Susan!..........she started to rot in the center as some of mine do, but I never give up..........will let you know what she does.

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Gail, if she does rot......I have babies coming up galore and will save you one :)

Beautiful blooms Susan and Gail..glad I hopped on here to take a look...so pretty..all of them..welcome back Amy hope you had a great vacation..Hope everyone else is having a nice weekend : )

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Love to be inside on these hot hot days. Just took a long nap and ready to play with plants again (LOL).

No matter how old our kids get, we, as parents are supposed to worry I guess. My son just called to say that he and his girlfriend are leaving for Louisiana late tonight so they can go to her lakehouse and water ski tomorrow and Monday. If you told me I had to drive past 8 or 9 in the evening I would let you know in a hurry that I wasn't going!

I have something in a hanging basket and going to take a picture. Maybe someone will know what it is. Someone sent me cuttings I think last year........

Susan, so glad you have your mother plant of Roulette Cherry!!!!!!!!! And doing a better job than me of propagating a leaf.........we shall see......

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

I have a nice size mother plant... Where is there a good place to buy streps other then on ebay? I would like a place that don't send mini plants and call them real plants... Also Gail do you know where to buy the bug stuff in granular ?
Thanks,
Susan

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I used to buy marathon at Cedar Creek but they don't sell it anymore. Let me look in my cape cod violetry catalog and see what they offer in place of marathon...........

The best place to buy big big streps was told to me by Brenda and I ordered some last fall. It is Brennan's Orchids............I don't have all of theirs but some of them........they are fully grown plants.

Does anyone know what this is? It is trying to bloom it appears. I have it hanging out in the trees with the hoyas which are also blooming.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I can't find my catalog but Cape Cod only carries Conserve anyway.......let me google and see if I can find Marathon 1% G. I just put a small pinch whenever I pot up streps but not anything else....

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

go this information and it appears you can buy all these products locally......after reading this information I think I am going to use it on the bottom part of the soil even on avs, etc......

Wow! Gail, that is a Beautiful Epiphyllum! Wish I could say I was the one who sent it but it wasn't me. I love Epi's and hope to have the small ones I do have grow up so I can see some blooms! I sure will be curious to find out the name of that beauty you have there! Hopefully whoever gave it to you will know the name!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I am so dingy I have no idea where I got it or who sent it! When she blooms I will take pictures.

Wow,Wow,Wow!!!! Beautiful blooms Gail and Susan.

Hi Amy! Welcome back.

(Zone 1)

Gail, you should upload your photo to PF ... there's only one photo there for this plant! I found it at Top Tropical's website: http://toptropicals.com/html/toptropicals/catalog/photo_db/E.htm?NumPerPage=20&NumPerLine=4&listonly=0&first=180 ... I think they list a common name of "Leaf Cactus". Scroll down towards the bottom of the page. They don't show a bloom, just a couple of pic's of a neat looking plant that looks just like yours!

Lin, I intend this summer when it is too hot to even get outside anytime except the evenings, I am going to add to plant files a lot of pictures I have. It will entertain me and help the plant files, too.

When I do get to this project, I will be bugging you a lot!!!!!!!! I will wait for her blooms to upload.....there is one not in this picture that is almost open..

I got out about 11:00 today to run errands and go to the grocery store. It was sooooo hot that I haven't been outside since I got home. AND, summer is not even here yet.

Here is my brunfelsia on the back porch and I will show you her blooms up close next. She is so fragrant and the other plant I have twining around the back porch is jasmine. She just quit blooming.

I am so excited as my son and a friend of his who is a landscaper are going to come down for several long weekends to build me a raised rose bed and a raised cutting bed. Getting tired of nothing but african violets. I want to use my gro lights for starting seeds for a cutting garden in the fall.

Gail, I know y'all get a lot hotter there in Texas than we do here and we've already had many days of mid to high 90's which is very unusual for us this time of year! We had two days last week of 99 - and awful humidity ... I hate it. I can just imagine what July, August and September are going to be like if we are having heat like this now! We have been doing a lot of work in the yard - spent all day today clearing an area on the outside of our fence ... so much invasive overgrowth of vines and ferns and cape honeysuckle! I get overheated quickly and at one point my husband told me to go get in the pool because my face was so red! I finally had to come in the air conditioning and cool off before I had heat stroke! Usually I can tell when I'm getting overheated and I take a break ... I should have done it earlier. We've been wanting to clear this area for a long time. For some reason people drive by and throw beer bottles, cans and trash in that wooded area ... hubby had his wheelbarrow out there and it was full of cans, bottles and trash! Unbelievable what slobs some people are. The county had someone trim the trees along there last fall because of them growing near power lines. The company that came, cut the tops off all the trees and left a lot of cut branches just hanging in all the shrubbery and trees! There was a LOT of really huge, beautiful (even though it is invasive) orange flowering Lantana growing along the entire area and the county had a mower come through last week and mow all of it down and left it all there. It's been so very dry here for so long that I am really concerned about someone throwing a cigarette out the window and catching it on fire ... and it's pretty close to the side of our house! So, we decided to take on the task ourselves of clearing it all out. We had 7 trash cans full of stuff and are not anywhere near done yet! We will have to make sure we keep it under control or it will all grow back quickly. So much stuff here in the south is invasive. We have some Virginia Creeper vines out there that are bigger around and thicker than my arm!

Well, I'm going to watch Basketball! Talk at y'all tomorrow!

Forgot to say ... That Brunsfelsia is Beautiful!

I admire you for even trying to work in this weather! I have to go find out who is playing tonight in the NBA...........I am a spurs fan

(Zone 1)

Gail, the Spurs played last night. The LA Lakers whipped them pretty bad. :( I am rooting for the Spurs too.

Tonight's game isi Boston and Detroit. I'm rooting for the Celtics and they are winning! It's Half-Time!

My "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" just stopped blooming too. It does smell so great!!!

Yours is awesome. Mine just started blooming, Sally.

That is right, Lin! I forgot they did get beat! I left the Celtics at half time and got in trouble on line with Brennan's Orchids, but can't wait for my order to come! Got two terrific orchids.
I will have to show you that one of my Vandas is getting ready to start blooming so my confidence level is rising with orchids again.

(Zone 1)

Oooh ... can't wait to hear what you got from Brennan's! And, I do hope you will post a pic of your Vanda when the blooms open. I hung all of my orchids out in a tree a few weeks ago. They seem real happy out there. I think one or two might have buds. I'm having a problem though with birds and squirrels. I found two orchid pots empty a few days ago .. one plant was on the ground but one was missing! I searched in the bushes and did not find it anywhere. It was in a basket with lots of LFS that was missing also ... the basket was almost entirely empty! I think maybe the birds are using the LFS for nesting materials!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I think you are right, Lin!!!!!!! about the LFS and birds using it for nesting material (LOL)

I still have my orchids on the porch.

Can't believe I ordered from Brennan's!!!!!!!!!!! Will post when I get them.
