I love abutilon!!!!!!!!!!! Darn it...I found 5 of the prettiest ones of the Bella series and I forgot them at my daughter's house last week.

Susan, just got home from early church and Sunday school.............have to take a nap and then I will tell you what I ordered from Brennans...........also will tell you what else I have from Brennans.........(that I didn't sell at the Mother's Day sale)..........I sold my Bristol's Very Berry and now Brennan's doesn't offer her and I am sick about it as she was one of my very favorites............

(Zone 1)

Ooh ... I have been wanting a flowering abutilon for many years but have heard they don't do well in my area. They are just sooo pretty!

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

I just got in from doing yard work and I am dead... I did not buy from Brennans but instead went to the lady that is in England... At this time I can't even tell you what I bought...lol Waiting for my son Mike to take his shower first then I am going to take my bath... Sorry I don't have the Very Berry but I will now go look it up... LOL I am done buying for now as I want to take the time with what I have... I want to start taking cuttings and trying to root extras... Some of mine are to small yet to do that but some are not.... I want to make sure I take cuttings from my Silvia as she has never stopped blooming for me... Also want to take cutting from some of the purple ones with no names... Ok off to read for a few then bath....
Hope you enjoyed your nap...

glad you don't have to have my lists as I can't remember what I ordered except that I did order streps, orchids and a couple of semi mini avs.

Thank you Jannich! I potted up plants from your Senk wasp leaves and look what I got out of your leaves. The 'Say What' I have more of but they need to grow a little before I separate them and I have more of 'Vespe Verde', too.

I think I got 6 big Royal Wasp from 2 leaves.........

I don't know how many times I have propagated the original Blue Tail Wasp from Allison when I first joined Dave's.

I know I am weird in what I like. This is the first bloom on a Saddle Shoe or shoes from a leaf grown plant. I adore her bloom.

I am just playing away today with plants. Bummer as it is windy and soooooo hot that I felt the soil on all the baskets in the trees and they were dry (I just watered them good day before yesterday) Will have to do that first thing in the morning.

I took my camera outside a few minutes ago to share..........

I call this Bleeding Heart Vine but don't know the botanical name. She is going in every direction and I need to tie her long vines up.

can you see the damage to the foliage from the winds........

Lin, here is the weird bloom trying to open although she is sagging right now on this epi. (please give me water, Mama)

I love this particular color of geranium and worked hard to keep her healthy through the winter just because of her color.

Gail, that's a Clerodendrum (Bleeding Heart Vine) in your first photo: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/506/ I had one identical to it that a neighbor gave me a few years ago. I recently gave it to my backyard neighbor because I didn't have any place to plant it! Yours is lovely!

Oh ... I LOVE that Geranium! The color is Awesome!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks, Lin......I didn't know the name. I may have to take cuttings of that geranium this winter. I found her at Lowe's last spring and now I can't find her again........

(Zone 1)

Love the Snowbush. I have one in my pool enclosure ... I've always known it as "Snow on the Mountain" another common name! http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2004/

Oooh ... your Vanda is gonna bloom again soon!

(Zone 1)

I would love to know the name on that Geranium ... looks like Strawberries and Cream!

(oh ... that's not a name for a geranium (at least I don't think it is) ... that's just my interpretation of what it looks like to me! LOL.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I have no earthly idea but I think I will check at Lowe's this week (although it is late for geraniums here). She really does look like Strawberries and Cream. Usually in the summer the geraniums die from the heat but I am taking good care of this one so I can take cuttings.

My friend from Houston called today to say she wanted to come down tomorrow and go home on Friday......sounds good to me. She loves to go nursery shopping like I do and discount shopping of any kind!

(Zone 1)

Oh Gail, how nice that your cousin likes the same things you do ... I hope y'all have a great week! Sounds like my kinda week ... I love shopping for plants but really love discount store shopping too! I know you will have fun!

(Zone 1)

Gail, your lovely Geranium has me googling!

I didn't find yours but this place sure has some beauties: http://www.holtgeraniums.com/catalogue.htm

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Lin, where in the world do you find all these places? I am going nuts looking at the site you provided. Geraniums do great all winter long on a porch here but you can't find them at the nurseries in the fall. I am going to try and order in October from these people. Thank you soooooo much!

WE are both bargain shoppers so we have fun together. She was saying that because she does work that she has no summer run about clothes (crop pants, etc) so we are going to hit the discount stores. I found the cutest shorter version of crop pants in San Antonio at Kohl's. (Don't worry about them covering up my knees ......lol......they come below the knee)

I am going back to your site that I bookmarked to ooooh and aaaah some more!

(Zone 1)

^_^ Gail, I just love to Google! Always looking up something or other!

Hey ... You watching the game? Spurs are up by 12! Yippee ... I sure hope they beat LA.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

It was half time so I ran to the computer.............they are probably playing again............sure glad you are a Spurs fan.
Back to the game..........

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Very nice plant Gail... I took cutting in the fall last year of one which looks alot like yours.. It did not make it... I hate to shop but love to shop for plants. We are getting a Kohls here in a few months it will be done..
Here is a picture of the plants I got from Brenda yesterday .. It was the co-op.
Hope you all have a good night..

Nice size plants, Susan. I should have gotten in on the co-op. That was very nice of Brenda to do that for everyone who wanted to participate.

(Zone 1)

Very Nice, Susan! I remember reading where Brenda was going to do a co-op from Out of Africa? was it? That was really quick too ... I think it was just last week some of y'all talking about it. I've never ordered from him but have heard Gail and others give rave reviews! I will look forward to seeing your photo's when your new babies bloom!

I am doing so good on not buying any more plants for awhile! I can't believe how my will power has been holding up!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I only ordered that one order from Dave's violets for the sinningias and I placed an order from Brennan's last night.

I am wanting to grow less plants in the house and use my gro lights to start seeds for a cutting garden this fall. My son and a friend are going to spend a few long weekends this summer to build me raised beds for both a rose garden and a cutting garden. I so miss a cutting garden.

(Zone 1)

Oh Gail ... Lucky you! I would love to have some raised beds. I miss having roses. I still have a couple but they look terrible. Years ago I had a huge rose garden in my front yard and had roses along the entire perimeter of the back fence and around the entire perimeter of the screen room! I adore roses but they need lots of sun and I don't have much sun anymore since trees have matured over the years. I do have a few of the Knock Out Roses and love them but not as much as the sweet fragrant cutting roses.

I remember your photo's of your rows and rows of Snapdragon's! They were so pretty! I love cutting flowers for arranging. Sure wish Peonies would grow down here ... they are so gorgeous! I want to plant some more Black Eyed Susans. I miss all the ones I had out front ... we cleared that area this spring and I should have saved a few! I have a couple of Cone Flowers coming up from seed in a bed in the backyard and some Stargazer Lilies. My Easter Lilies looked awful this year. They are usually beautiful and I enjoy cutting them but they really did not do well this year.

Well, G'nite for now!

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

I love having raised beds. It make it allot easier to weed. I still have one more bed that needs to be finished.. We have the boards and all just not the time yet.... I have not planted allot outside this year yet as our weather had been crazy so that is next to do... I have some roses but not tons of them... We get Japanese beetles so bad that they destroy so many of my plants.. This year I am trying a systemic to see if this helps any... I hate those things...
Well ladies I hope you all have a wonderful night as this lady is off to bed now...

Morning!

Gail,The wasp leaves gave you lots of babies! I love the wasps.I have others for you but the plantlets need to grow more before I can take leaves from them. Your doing get with the orchids!

Hi Susan,Thats a great bunch of streps.Nice size too.

Hi ya Miss Lin..

Have a good day everyboby!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Jannich, do you remember those orchids you sent me that you divided the roots system? They weren't phals but I can't remember what they were. Well! They are still alive! Very excited about the orchids now.

I've made it safely back from my adventure into the "Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness" and it was a fabulous trip. We were right on the Salmon river, in fact croseed it a few times in a rickety cable car strung above the river you'd have to see to believe!

Lin you would have loved that little 6 seater plane ride over and through the mountains, it was awesome and the views from that close to the mountains and rivers are indescribable! I thought I'd be afraid but I wasn't, it was too awesome!

I came home to a strep seedling blooming! It was one I have grown from the gessie society seed so it'll never have a name but it is very pretty. There is a lot of yellow at the back of the throat that doesn't show in this picture.

Ok, I just have to show a couple of pictures from my trip....here is the "cable car" as they call it that seats two people and that you take across the madly rushing Salmon River.....

A view with the river in it ......

Can you believe we willing crossed in this thing with my 19 month old granddaughter several times?? She wasn't the least bit afraid, in this picture she is just waking up. It was the first time I let my daughter hold her going across the water. I insisted on holding her each time, like I'd hold on to her better than her own mother!! LOL

Thumbnail by bmedel
Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Gravity would send you swinging out over the water to about the halfway point and then you have to hook a thing to the cable above your head and pull yourself one pull at a time the rest of the way!! Fortunately for us our friends husband towed us back and forth each time. You have to be careful not to catch your hair in the pulley and that is why we stayed ducked down....

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

We hiked to an abandoned home stead and enjoyed poking around and imagining living in such a remote area way back when. Me with my granddaughter perched on a very old tractor seat with the view of the endless mountains behind.....

Your daughter looks exactly like you and your husband! She is beautiful but I cannot believe you took this trip! My poor grandchildren have to wear life vests along with the adults any time they are on the water............my fears. Your grandchild is adorable just like the rest of your grands!
Glad you had fun and are SAFELY back home as those pics look mighty scary to me. Brenda, I won't even fly commerically , let alone in a small plane. (LOL)

BTW, that hoya is the prettiest bloom I have ever seen on a hoya.....so light, fluffy and romantic

edited to say..........please show more pics......fascinating trip you all took
