I bought the 10 inch ones there and they fit.
Hang-a-pot co-op - post pictures here!
I'm curious why some of y'all are putting plastic pots inside the clay pots. Is it because of the terra cotta drying out quickly? Just curious, I've heard a couple of people mention doing this and have been wondering.
It probably helps with the drying out as well as helping to keep the roots cooler. I sealed my pots with a spray on sealer because I don't want the moisture to evaporate so fast.
A plastic bag with a hole in the bottom works, too. Hang it over the sides while you fill the pot, then tuck it in around the edges when you are finished. Don't forget the hole, or you have a mess.
Oh, Wow ... I LOVE those Tippy Pots ... how did you make that?! Really Cool!
I love your tippy pots! The bags might be a problem in them because the holes aren't flat, the pots might get soggy in the tipped part at the bottom, I'd probably add a wick of panty hose to that part out the hole, just in case.
Here is the instructions to make the tipsy pots:

Oh, Thank you Becky!
yes, the tippy pots are really super easy, and I'm making more this weekend! LOL! one for herbs and another for my coleus :o) In these, I plan to put a hole in the bottom of the plastic pots, and then put them into the clay pots to act as a liner. I think your right about the plastic not working for tippy pots. But I will try it in the hanging planters.
Great job, Syrumani ... don't you just love these hang-a-pots?! I sure wish I had bought more than ten.
I can't wait to get mine started... those all look great
I think if there is another co-op for these, I'd get another dozen or two . . . I need just one more to hang my 3 mint pots . . . don't want to hang just two - wouldn't look right! Will wait until we get the free ones later this summer, I guess!

Well, mine are more utilitarian-I'm using them to hang my hoyas. They will go outside next week, but in the meantime, I started putting up my pots. Very exciting. Here is the area. I will slip in the plastic pots they are in and take off the hangers. The big hoya pots will prolly sit on the rock on the bottom or I may put up some hangers.
Very cool Boojum!
Still have not hung mine. I have a gazillion plastic nursery pots but not a single clay pot. Have to wait for payday so I can sneak some home and throw dirt on 'em so hubby thinks that they have always been there. :^)
Thanks! Now if only I would get the peony cages up I would feel so on top of it! My biggest project though will be wiring my orchids on a shelf outside (most of the 250 of them!!). I have to wire them so they don't all tip inthe wind and rainstorms. I may use some hangapots for them too.
wow Boo that looks great... can't wait to see them filled up
Kool idea! Love your display! Do share a photo or two when the pots are filled with plants! Very nice!
Boonjum: That is really great! Looks like you have a Huge house. I love that building, love the hangapots on the building and love the birdhouses (I collect birdhouses!)
I look forward to seeing it with all your hoyas arranged there! And would love to see a photo of all your orchids on the shelf once you get it completed too!
Oh..that is awesome, both of them,I need you to come fix mine....LOL
I haven't decided where to put them, working on the yard, putting in flagstone.
Wow Boojum Your yard and plants are gorgeous!!!
Betty
Thanks, tortoisekeeper! (Wish I wasn't exhausted. Well I won't be forever-spring is always so intense!!)
Boo: That is just Awesome! I don't know what a double barn is but I really like the looks of the outside of your barn "home". That wall is just perfect for all those hangapots! I keep going back and looking at your photos ... very nice. About your dryer vent ... if it's anything like the heat that comes out of mine, it will fry any plants close to it. I wonder if the vent cover on the outside of the house can be turned upwards so the heat isn't blowing down on the plants?
I have a few Hoyas hanging on my front porch which faces east and gets a little morning sun ... there are a couple of palm trees and a crape myrtle that filter the sun and they do real well in that location. You might have to build some sort of frame where you can put a shade cloth over your plants if the sun is real intense in that location.
Your orchid wall is terrific! Is that a shade cloth I see hanging under the eaves of the roof? Do you have a hose out there or do you have to water everything individually?
My goodness, Do you have a greenhouse or do you have to take all of those plants into the house in the winter time?? I know if I lived up north I would not have many plants at all. I just can't imagine moving them in and out each year! The only thing I move in during our few cold nights in winter is the orchids, but I only have about a dozen ... it looks like you have a few hundred! I have brought a few of the hoyas in if we expect temps much below 40 degrees for more than one night but for the most part everything gets shoved up against the south side of the house and covered with old blankets.
Thanks so much for sharing your lovely photo's!
Great job, Kathy! I agree with you about the intensity of spring. It becomes overwhelming. Thank heavens for take out food.
amazing.... great job with all those!.... they look wonderful... can't believe how many you have
boojum - I love your barn! That is so rustic looking! Just the coolest home! Your hang-a-pots look perfect for the house structure! Very, very nice job on all those orchids too! Thanks for sharing your awesome home and hang-a-pot deco!
Thanks, wow, I feel like a star! ^_^ No gh and I do take them in when it gets close to freezing. The orchids bloom all winter! That's why I grow them. I also have a good bunch of epiphyllums and amarylli.
Waiting for other pics....
I killed my first orchid ... never had any after that
:)
Somehow I seriously doubt it's hang-a-pot. Why not try posting the photo under Garden Art. Maybe someone there could help you.
