Hang-a-pot co-op - post pictures here!

Amsterdam, NY(Zone 5a)

I know most of you just received your hangers, but those in less cold-challenged areas are already using them!!

I'll also post instructions here on how to get our pictures to Ralph so we can all get our 4 free hangers! I just have to talk to him about the best way to handle it.

(Maggie) Jacksonvill, FL(Zone 9a)

Diane,

Any more word on our boxes?

Thanks,

Maggie

Hey!!! I found a 8" Terracycle pot at HD that fits perfect. Made from old computers and stuff.
but they are pricey $5.97!!!!. I like the colors.I had a coupon so it cost me 97cents : } Will post a pic tomorrow.

Satsuma, AL(Zone 8b)

I bought some 6" and 8" clay pots at HD last week.

I have been applying a few coats of poly to the insides and will put two of them out on the mailbox post with wave petunias. Pics to come!

Make sure they fit the hanger. Lowe's and HD carry 2 styles of clay pots- all mashed together on the shelf. One size fits, the other has a lip that is too big.

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

I'm LOVING these hangers! Two are hung, one more is almost ready. I need more pots and plants!

Bartlesville, OK(Zone 6a)

Not many pictures yet, but here is one

Oooh, very nice! I have hung 5 of mine but keep forgetting to take pictures! I will make myself a note right now to do it tomorrow! I only ordered 10.

:(

Sure wish I had ordered more!

If I do another co-op, (big if, it's like birth, I have to have a while to forget), it won't be until winter. Still waiting to hear from Ralph about the pots.

West Central, WI(Zone 4a)

ROTFL....been there....done that. (births and co-ops)

TK - GREAT idea the plastic in the clay!!! I was just whining about how I wished my favorite Wally World pots would be compatible with these hangers. YOU solved my challenge - thank you!!!!

Buffalo, MN(Zone 4a)

Hey, a neat thing about putting plastic inside the clay is that you could easily change what's planted by switching the plastic liners . . .pansies in the spring, geraniums in the summer and so on . . .

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

I had already decided to put plastic in clay because I don't want to carry the weight of clay pots or transplant every year (houseplants).

Bartlesville, OK(Zone 6a)

hummmm, now you tell me. LOL

Well, I have a lot left to do, I'll test that out.

=^..^=

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

i couldn't find any plastic pots that fit well in my clay ones

:(

but you did a nice set up

Mobile, AL(Zone 8b)

I found my plastic pots at Big Lot's for 1.30 each and the clay pots at wallyworld for 1.97 I started out trying to make the pots swirl but just eyed it and had to add more pots to cover empty spots. I still have to more to add. I only have 10. Wish I would have ordered more.

Here's mine on the oak tree....just back from LA swap at Jeri's...have tree trimmers and insurance adjuster here now. Had hail storm day before we left for LA Swap. I'm sure I'll find 'nother place for more of these neat hangers! When I get more time.....

Bigbubbles... that looks great!

BB - I LOVE it!!! Was thinking to myself....hmmmm Epis and Broms....how nice would that look!! With TK's idea of plastic IN clay...well I cant' wait to get mine up!!!
BB - hope everything's safe at your place!

Mobile, AL(Zone 8b)

Sandi I love the way you did your pots. Wish I had a tree to put them on.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks guys! I'm waiting for the "tree huggers" to chime in to tell me I'm maiming my tree!

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

Haha, you are maiming your tree.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I wondered about that ,but then, woodpeckers drill holes on em too. I'm going to try it on a tree too.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I was thinking of woodpeckers, too, but some people will probably have a reason why it's fine for them to peck away. It's still pretty!!!!!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I agree Pirl, still trying to figure out places to put them, when the dog yard is finished,it will have a 4ft wood picket fence, going to hang some on the outside to fancy it up some.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I used five different clematises on our dog's pen and it's covered the picket fence completely. Those cedar posts placed in gardens look great with the pots if you have the place for a few of them.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I will soon, have several clematis I've bought from Silver Star, and trying to figure out where to put them all,and started morning glories, and moonflowers. Lots of ideas ,thanks to all of you guys..... I love it.
I'm ready to retire,so I can play in the dirt. :)

(Zone 1)

Oh how I wish I had bought more than 10 of these! I've hung a couple. Put three on this post with the birdhouses. The Squirrels are tearing my plants out of the pots .... Arrrrgh! In this pic you can see a squirrel on the side of the birdhouse and I think another on the roof of the pump house in the backyard.

And another in the side yard:

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Great way to use those hangers, plantladylin! Love your ideas! :-)

I have squirrels too! I put chicken wire over the top of the pots to keep them from digging in my pots. Seems to work and when the plants fill out in the pots, you don't see the chicken wire. :-)

(Zone 1)

Great idea Becky! I would like to keep the birds and squirrels out of my plants.

I hung my orchids out in the trees and either squirrels or birds have uprooted a couple and another small orchid is missing from the pot ... couldn't find it anywhere on the ground or in the bushes. I think maybe birds are using the long fiber spaghnum for nesting material and I know the squirrels are burying nuts - sure wish they would leave my plants alone. But, it's my own fault cause I feed the birds and squirrels, so I can't complain too much!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

well big lots did not have any pots that fit into my 8".... but they did have $1.00 kids sand buckets that I am going to modify

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Oh my! You'll have to show us the sand bucket idea! I bet it's going to look pretty cool!

(Zone 1)

I found my clay pots at Home Depot for 97 cents each. They worked well for me.

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

Wow, that is a good price, our HD has the highest prices around on clay pots. What size are they?

(Zone 1)

hmm ... 8", 10" - I'm not really sure. I will try to find my receipt and see if it tells me.

Looks like they are 6" and they were 99 cents each!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

do the wally world clay pots fit? their clay pots were really cheap. I also bought some plastic pots for 80 cents each that fit inside the clay pots. I havent received the hangars yet, just wondering if their clay pots will fit or if I need to go to HD.

oh and if they do fit....dont go to wallyworld in fremont...they are all out of clay pots :o) I bought them all! LOL!
