That stinks about the blooms. Don't shut up though,,,,
Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - Frostfree?
heheheehe.
When i lived in STL, people cut the registration thags off license plates all the time. It happened to me once and almost everyone i knew. But the license plate to steal gas is a new on on me...
I would think the attendant would at least glance to see the color/size/make of the vehicle, aside from the plate.
That would make sense.
In that case, maybe the cops will forget to call?
Arlene, you're hysterical!
Regarding Arlene's "TICK WARNING" - it reminds me of the Brad Paisley song, "I'd Like to Check You for Ticks". It's cute!
that's one disadvantage of living alone. Especially when you sleep with two dogs. Maybe I need to call Pirl's friend and see if I can get on his call list!!!
On second thought though, by the time he got to Alabama, that tick would have had his fill and he'd be gone.
Go Gloria,Tick house calls yet LOL
Gloria - there are always devoted tick checkers who will go anywhere just for a free tick check up. Call 1-800-NO TICKS.
pirl!! You made that up!!!
Who? Me? Pure and innocent Polly Purebred...no Pirl Purebred?
What did he say when you called? Did he ask for directions? Did you give them to him?
I thought 1-800-NO-TICKS was the clock repair shop...
Pirl----Victor------too naughty
Ah Hah! Victor! You also have a personal tick-picker!
I wonder if this will happen in the rest of the country??
Epidemic?
i had one on me the other day, but he was moving around so I got him before he attached. it never occurred to me that people were making a profession out of ticks!
Remind me to buy new langire' you know what I mean.
Gloria! You said you had one the other day - was that a tick inspection?
Yes, time to buy some new goodies, ge.
No - not an inspection. I just grabbed something crawling on me which I thought was an ant. It turned out to be a tick.
K-I-L-L- IT
I flushed it. I flushed the mouse Emmagreyhound caught this morning, too. All undesirables down the drain.
Good doggy!
She is a good doggy! I just watched Oprah's tear jerker on the puppy mills in the U.S. Emmagreyhound is one of the first dogs Ive ever gotten directly from a rescue shelter. I would never have consciously selected a greyhound. there is a race track near here. I suppose she is a reject from some breeder to was supplying dogs for the track.
The truth is, I looked at all the puppies at the shelter and they were all acting silly. But this puppy was looking at ME. She chose me, so here we are.
She wants to run and I can't run that fast. I can run but not THAT fast. She is a lot more than just a hound dog. If I ever need another dog, I will go to the rescue shelter and select a dog that needs me.
We did that with our last three dogs, Gloria, and Harry (the Lhasa) must be the best dog we've ever owned. I thank God two other people didn't like him so he was put in the shelter twice. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have such a loyal and loving companion.
I just took this photo in the last few days. He's so devoted to Jack that he lays at Jack's feet so he can follow him when he goes to work in the vegetable garden.
Emma is under my chair now. Some times Roscoe just gets fed up at her and comes and sits on the other side of my chair. Then they growl over the space. She is the puppy so he is the outcast. Harry is a cutie.
The methodist minister found Roscoe in the road when he was a puppy. He had been hit by a car. the vet fixed his hip and he started to be a roamer. I found him down at the other end of town at an apartment house where I was working. He followed one of the tenants two or three miles out that road. I called the number on his collar and said I wanted the dog.
They said you can have him if you can keep him out of the road. So he is MINE. And I am HIS.
And that's the way it should be.
May you have a tick free evening, Miss Pirl.
Let's hope we all do, Gloria. We once had a dog with tick paralysis and that was scary but after a bath by the vet and removal of 9 ticks we've always used the control for the grass and gardens and have never had another problem with them. I was so afraid the dog would die but she perked right up and was fine within a few hours.
It's such a widespread problem now. There is good news on the vaccine front from what I recently read.
Vaccines for humans?
Has anyone seen any monarchs yet? I was inspecting some milkweed yesterday for eggs, but didn't see any.
Isn't it too cold?
I saw a swallowtail Monday, so they should start showing up soon right? I guess I could look up the migration.
Wow deb I'll have to keep my eyes open, still waiting for hummingbirds to come to feeder put out last week.
I just checked a migration map and they are near Pirl and Victor, a few more north both to the east and west, but otherwise none spotted in NY yet.
I haven't seen a hummer yet either, and others have.
edit: to add the map

I saw a hummer on Tuesday and butterflies yesterday.
But they weren't Monarchs.

We've had the hummers here since May 8th. The Monarchs won't arrive until around the end of June, I think. They lay their eggs in mid to late July. The kids and I do a 'Monarch Hatching' project every season.
Candyce, I did the monarch raising for the first time late last summer, so am looking forward to getting an early start this year.
