lavatory retriever???
Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - Frostfree?
Yes, well just an explanation as to how useless he is and what our kids called him when he landed on the doorstep thirteen years ago. You know, kid-speak sticks forever. Interesting that you didn't question the three-legged chicken house thief that showed up with him.

Victor - I have always said the same thing re: our weather.
We also manage to avoid the fires & mudslides that hit the west coast.
What I DON'T like is that it's the end of May, and I'm STILL cold!
I'm so TIRED of being cold!
Nancy
P.S. I like squirrels. (ducking stuff being thrown at me)
LOL!

Maybe this weekend will be end of the heating season!
Golly, Victor. I sure hope you are right!

Off to NYC till Sunday... bye!
Safe trip Amy!
Cute, Candyce!
Amy, Have fun.
Candyce, had to look at those things on the wall for a bit before I figured out what they were. Had a deprived childhood on Miami Beach.

LOL ~
I'll bet you did, Laurel. I think, though, that I would have traded with ya!
cute Candyce
Weeze says in a tiny whisper.....I like squirrels too.
I really do love every kind of living thing Weeze and Pirl. DH has gifted me with two scopes, one a stage scope, the other a micro. A variety of hand lenses too. I run in with butterfly wings, beetles, water from the spring tank. Have stains, cover slides, etc.. Everything is copesthetic until the specimens do in the food supply.
Trying to get off the grid a bit here and green up our lives. We give so much of the food we grow to local food banks.
Laurel
If only more people would follow your lead, Laurel!!
Laurel - G' bless you for that.
DD is a swim coach for a community league. She got the idea to do a swim-a-thon last summer. You know, instead of walking miles, kids and parents could get people to sponsor laps. A good kids' community involvement project. This was July and the veggies were really rolling in. So, when she saw all the produce, she asked if she could also set up a table with pretty baskets and sell veggies, flowers and herbs. She raised over $800 for Camp Sunshine, a camp for kids with cancer founded by Hamilton Jordan. She's already planning this summer's charity event.
Our garden is very small for a country garden. It's amazing what can be grown in a little space. It's enormously rewarding. Of course we've had to forgo much of the beautiful planned gardens I enjoy through your photos. Now I'm off to Maypop!

I'm on my way to Greece tomorrow!
Everything's packed & by the door.
I'll probably sign on before I shut everything down, but in case I don't... "see" you on the 6th!
Nancy
Great! Enjoy every minute as I'm sure you will. Eat everything! I love Greek food.
Nancy:
Safe trip there and back!
'See' you soon!
Happy Birthday, Carrie!
Hope it's a good one

Brent and Becky's 50% OFF spring bulbs, until June2
Thanks, JoAnn!
Have a great trip, Nancy! Say hello to the Acropolis for me. I wandered around it all alone on my 25th birthday and just loved connecting to such an ancient place. Enjoy!
Al, that's a good one!
Thank you Candyce for that link.
I thought I was the only one with mulch volcanoes! Guess I was wrong again!
We have had a new Walmart installed a few years ago. The parking lot has little islands nicely designed and planted with trees. And they even have a grounds keeper for the little islands and the trees planted along each of the entrances. He is going to make sure those trees die no matter what. Each of them is mulched at least 3 ft up the trunk with pine bark, forming little cones with the poor trees struggling not to drop all of their leaves.
They'll die. There's just no doubt about it. Sad to see it when landscapers provide such bad examples and people feel that's the thing to do. Leading the sheep to slaughter.
AHHHHHMEN
Eek! The sun is out. I want the promised rain.
we have rain forcast here, too, but all we get is muggy sweaty murky weather. Sorry, I just sometimes an advocate of Alabama's humid heat.
(They say its good for the skin???)
I've often wondered if I should say something to the manager of a store whenever I see some poor plants or shrubs that are doing poorly. What's your take on that? Would you approach a store manager with suggestions for improvement of their plants?
Yes. I did tell the garden shop manager.
Nothing changed. I guess he didn't believe me. By the end of the summer the trees will be dead. Maybe then he will believe me.
I would bring it to the attention of the garden dept. manager. The store managment might not ever get to it.
Frankly I doubt the garden center managment really care, their focus is on "moving product" It would make you feel better, thats how I approach most issues in the Mass consumer world where your not dealing w/ the real boss.
The trees are gleditsia - Honey Locusts.
