DAILY PICS VOL. 107
Gorgeous shots everyone.
GG- so sorry.
Question for you bird experts: I just saw a grey and white (kind of stripey) bird on the ground. Dog started running, bird flew up and exposed a yellow backside. Anyone know what that is?
It may still be in the 40s here but wow, things are a'poppin'! Orioles, even a hummer, actually saw the male Rose Breasted Grosbeak this morning. Red and White winged blackbirds are back at the sunflower seeds. So many birds I can't quite ID yet - and no time to snap photos. I will as I can.
Thanks everybody for sharing your pictures.

Needs a bit more info . . . what size? what habitat? where did it fly to?
Resin
Could it be an eastern meadowlark?

Thanks everyone. Human scent is why I stayed far enough from that nest to, I thought, keep it safe.
Last evening and again this morning when I was weeding out behind the house, a big fat gray and white cat was prowling and lurking around my feeders. I chased it twice last evening and again this morning. Then, after the second chase this morning, I went to its owner and told them that if I saw it over at my place again, it was coming home in a body bag!! I love cats, but they belong at home!
I am nearly certain that is the predator that ate the birds. So, I lost my baby birds and the mama, and I have a neighbor that is not happy with me.
The unhappy neighbor bothers me not at all. We think that cat is responsible for killing and eating a mama Bluebird and her babies a few weeks ago.
Back to my weeding.
GG
Great! And wonderful picture.
I assume you were screaming, or was it the woodpecker? I did hear something funny. LOL
GG.... I am so sorry...
Nanny...congrats on the big P!!
We had a Pileated yesterday--they are so spectacular-I didn't scream or jump up & down until after it had left--but certainly have the urge.
nanny - you are so funny! I know exactly how you feel! There's just something about those Pileated's!
MaryinLa - thanks for taking a stab. I don't think we have them here and it wasn't that big.
It was more sparrow size, noticeably gray with white and a distinctive yellow butt uncovered or exposed when the bird flew.
Might have been a Yellow-rumped Warbler and IT IS! New one for me!

and Sybil congratulations to you too for the Yellow-rumped, isn't it exciting to add a new one?
