Wow..Jackpot Diane!! Nice plants!..Those ought to keep you busy for awhile..Marvelous! Such a sweet thing for Susan to do for sure : ))
May blooms and lots of fun!
Looks like I'm going to have to get offline. It's storming pretty good here. SO that means I HAVE to go play plants! LOL
What is wrong with DAve's site..................I keep losing my post............frustrating as I just said , Wow, Susan, you send more plants than anyone I know on DG. (as always) ARe you sure you don't have a crush on the post office guy(LOL)
What a great way to start the morning, with all the beautiful pictures!
Gail,That sinningia is a great color. Is that labeled Small's dwaft mix? Your streps are awesome! Sinn.Amizade has so many buds,it going to be beautiful when they all bloom.
Lin,can't wait to see your new begonia,I'm growing quite fond of those plants.
Diane, thats a great trade box! Way to go Susan.
Oh Nancy,I think you need a leaf of the strep Fran's Breanne. The color is lovely!!!
Thanks for making my day ladies!!!!!!!!!!!
Diane,
I am so glad they made it there in on piece.. PO and I have not been doing so good lately... All the AV when grown will have names if they don't aready... I got them all from the same person and when they bloom we can ask her if no one knows here what they are.... Allot of them have babies so just let them grow awhile longer and you are in the plants lady....LOL John's winter Sun looks like it had a million babies to me.... LOLOL I will let you take it apart..LOLOLOL
Oh this is not a swap... I told Diane awhile back I would send her some leaves and then could not... This is and I OWE YOU... I never like to say I will do something then don't... I am really happy those have a happy home.... Also glad the purple one still was blooming for you when it got there... :-) The roulettle cherry that I started for Dimmer from a cutting is now sprouting babies so yours will also soon... Sorry for the no named ones but some I bought at Lowes and they never come with name... Enjoy all you AV's and as my streps get bigger I will help you get more of them..
Hugs,
Susan
Gail,
The man at the post office is fine to look at but na I will keep my Kevin...LOL Thes are mostly AV's I got off the lady on ebay and they all but two I think have babies so I am not into the Av's that much and Diane has always been good to me so off they went to there new home... Plus I wanted her to get them apart to help her learn.... No I was really just to lazy...LOLOL Gail if I get and then find I don't like out it goes to someone who will love it... I am a sharer I always have been...
Ok off to work chat at you ladies later...
Hugs,
Susan
Thats so nice of you Susan, lets see did you ever say you would send me something???? LOL,LOL,LOL....just kidding(wink)
When your streps Roulette Cherry and Silva get bigger I would love to trade you leaves.
Oh my gosh!!!!!! That is the finest looking plant I have seen with the flower on it!
I didn't know you posted this morning.........got to go back and see what else you are showing us. Jan, that is awesome! Looking at that picture makes me not want to throw out my plants like I did this morning.
I think I may just grow sinningias and streps (not counting the front porch of lipstick, columnea, etc.) inside!!! This is getting exciting as mine start to open. Jan, I am getting another bloom on the bright red one I posted yesterday!
Pretty streps, Susan! That Silvia is a winner for sure. I am getting a leaf of her in trade and I am waaay too excited.
Yes, I did have throwing out party today. After all, my sanity is worth a lot! (LOL)
When this sale is over, there may be another throwing out party again.
Yes, Jan, the sinningia cardinalis 'Innocent' is already starting to open like yours. I was shocked that it really was 'Innocent'. You told me it was but I didn't think that it could possibly be true even though you grew it from seed.
Let me see if I can find a picture I took about 3 days ago..............she is more open now.
Loving all the pic's everyone! You ladies can really grow! Such Beautiful Blooms!
Jan: My two new begonia's aren't anything special ... not the Rex type ... don't know what they are.
Here's a not so great picture I took this morning. I really like the variegated foliage on the one on the left and the one on the right is an angel wing type that I had for years and lost when it got left out in the cold a couple of years ago. Both of these are a pretty common variety.
Lin, the one on the left is called 'Charm'. The only reason I am so familiar with it is because when I worked in a greenhouse (quit in '89) we grew a lot of begonias.
She is related to the semperflorens that you see as a bedding plant but much nicer. Don't you love her variegated foliage? Of course I am in love with cane begonias and can't wait to see how yours blooms.
I have so many senior moments now that I forget the names of all the begonias anymore!
Oh, Thank you Gail ... I had no idea whatsoever what that one was! The cane begonia I can't for the life of me remember the name. It is identical to one I had for years and gets teeny light pink blooms.
Gail: I found the semperflorens begonia Charm Red in PF: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/161231/ mine must be Charm Pink cause it has pink flowers.
I wish I still had a good memory! Not complaining about getting old yet!
That Charm can be wintered over but is best if you take cuttings in the late fall and root them. For some reason they don't do as well as canes when you just cut them back. With your good weather she just might stay pretty year around...............
Begonias are one of my very favorite plants! Canes are my very favorite because you can just whack them back anytime you want and root in water.
***edited to say I forgot they come in red also................you are absolutely right.........

Took a late nap so I would stay up late working on labeling plants and I am just doing nothing at all!
back to work I guess!
Gail,
The Semperfloren's/Wax Begonia's are used as landscape plants here ... they do fine in the ground year round as long as they are mulched. If we were to have an unusual hard freeze they wouldn't survive though. I like them okay but they have never been a favorite plant. I did see a mass planting of them once that was absolutely stunning. They use them a lot at Disney World and some of the other theme parks.
Well I just got all my new pretties under lights. I hope I did the Streps right! New thing for me to do...
It has been a week! It's been raining like crazy and everything's flooded- including where I work! We came in yesterday to a floating floor- cleaned it all up by squeegy-ing & wet vac just to come in & have to do it all over again this morning. Then it poured & hailed again this afternoon. SO here we go again with the squeegy & wet vac. I am pooped! Supposed to rain more tonight. We've had just under 4inches of rain in the last 2 days.
Everyone's pics are beautiful! Love the Aurora Borealis! Beautiful!
Very pretty Susan..streps are my favorite right now!!..Speaking of which..lol..Jannich I may have to see what I can tempt you with for a leaf of Fran's Breanne..I am silly over that! Gail I think you sent me a sinningia cardinalis 'Innocent'..it has buds now..lol..can't wait to see it bloom!Lin I love your begonias..that is one of quite a few plants I don't get along with..the leaves always get brown and die on me..maybe they need more humidity than I can give them? I have no idea..lol..I do have one I received from Snowrose..Capricorn I believe that is really beautiful and seems to like me..love the leaves on that plant! Oh Diane it doesn't sound like your job has been fun lately..mother nature sure can wreak havoc when she sets her mind to it.Hope things dry out soon down there! oops I had to scroll back up aways and look..Jannich Aurora Borealis is a beautiful plant!
Diane: I sure wish y'all could send some of that rain our way! We really need it ... so dry here and red flag fire warnings up a lot lately. There have been a few brush fires around but no out of control wild fires thank goodness. I think we need a good tropical storm to dump lots of water on us! Hurricane season begins soon and I hope we don't have any major ones this year but a little one with lots of rain would be a good thing.
Nancy: What does Begonia Capricorn look like? Never heard of that one. I had a beautiful little Begonia Bonita Shea from Snowrose ... one of my favorite plants of all time, it was just so pretty. It died when I lost a lot of plants for some unknown reason last fall. :( I have tried the Rex Begonias at different times and could never keep one of those beauties alive for long. I have a couple of cane type begonias that do really well out on my deck.
Good Morning everyone.........
I have to hit it again with labels, etc.
Love everyone's posts as it is my morning entertainment to check in! Will try and post some pics later in the day.
Nancy, I can't remember if I sent you the orange cardinalis or the yellow one "Innocent"

Thank you SusanGa..I haven't seen you around in awhile..hope all is well..we would love to see some of your pics sometime again soon..you always have such pretty plants..
Lin..Capricorn is a Rex..It has such great looking leaves..I will post a pic a little later..
Gail make sure you take frequent breaks today..you know what they say about all work and no play..lol..you need to post a few more of your beauties : )
nancy, the problem is that I take too many breaks and can't get through. This body and mind is working at its' maxiumum capacity (LOL)
Nancy,
I to would love to see the picture of the Rex begonia.... I have two so far and they do well for me... They live now under the J. Maple tree for the summer... I also have one that I don't have a name for so when it stops raining I will go and snap a picture so maybe one of you can tell me....
Good Morning also to everyone... Suppose to work today but I played hookey...LOLOL
Hugs,
Susan
I love the Rex Begonias but can't keep them for very long. I think we're too hot and dry for them. It seems like they like to dry a little around the roots and have extra humidity around the leaves- at least it seems like it to me. But with our dry air people have a tendancy to over-compensate with water at the roots. But then I have several customers at work who are 'Rex Begonia" regulars and must have tons! Go figure!
Susan- I would LOVE to play hooky today! I woke up still tired again today. Have lot's of fun playing plants! Your Strep pics are beautiful! Way to grow!
Gail- Those breaks during the day visiting DG, just consider them therapy to keep going and that takes the guilt away!LOL
After my eye doctor appointment I can play... My eyes are flashing like lights going off... also I have floaters in my eyes and yesterday I had one kinda join into one.. looks like I have a bug in my eye floating around...LOL So when I knew I was not going to work I called to go see her today...
Now those types of begonias I can't keep alive...LOLOLOL
Ok off to get dressed to go to doctors... Hey had anyone heard of a Episcia called Dianthaflora? It is white.
Hugs,
Susan
So nice to come and catch up! Gorgeous pictures everyone!! Love the variety we get to see here.
Nice Haul you received there from Susan Diane, what fun!
Nancy that Silvia is a heart stopper for sure! As are both of Jan's Sinns!! Guttatta and Aurora Borealis are something else! ^_^
Also loved the first red sinn Gail posted that Jan grew from seed. And the streps, well that is where my heart lies and Gail you and Nancy both have some real beauties that is for sure!
Here is a new picture of Bristols Ribbon Candy for you Gail, I know you love the whoop de doo centers....
~Brenda
The rex begonias are beyond me too Susan! Not near enough humidity here. Hope your Dr takes care of your eyes so you can play plants! I'm pretty sure the Dianthaflora is an Alsobia which is still in the AV family. Beautiful white fringed blooms.
I bought a big Alsobia Dianthaflora at HD last fall and it has never bloomed once since bringing it home!! I have also had two other alsobias that never once bloomed for me so obviously not a plant for me!! LOL
I enjoy the fantasy streps a lot with no two blooms ever blooming the same. Look at all the pink in the newest Party Boy blooms I have. This Party Boy plant also gives off much lighter colored blooms than any others I have ever seen.......

I forgot to say Way To Go Gail!! on finally getting buds on Silverglade Oysters! I'm glad they are finally going to do something after all the time they've been growing!
My babies are still so dinky compared to yours that I have a long long time to go for blooms!! I'm going to stick some more leaves though as the blooms are so gorgeous and I want to have back up plants. LOL
I think I take a picture of every new bloom....^_^
~Brenda
Brenda, what a memory you have about the streps and me liking the woop de do centers! Amazing picture.
Senior moments are a big part of my day. I just took all the streps (about 30) of them I am taking to the sale in the kitchen to groom them and label them. Well, wanting to give them a good drink of water with fertilizer in it as I put the sandwich bags around each pot. I picked up the wrong colored blue water.............it was soap and water (LOL). They will just have to stay that way and I pray that soapy thick water won't kill them....................
