...also, tell Honey he's looking very stud-ly! (I love construction humor!)
Give him a smooch from us jealous gals!
shed construction
the other guy is his step dad.... and honey said he could have gotten a lot more done alone... LOL... oh well good intentions though.... and yes there was food involved.... but I wasn't cooking today... no time to cook when there are plants to tend to... we all got a lot done today... now hopefully the holiday weekend will be nice and we can finish this off
Looking good onewish!!! That shed is going to be pretty big - you will have lots of room!!! Yahooooo!!!
that's what we hope for.... the garage here is really small ... hopefully some of that stuff can go in the new shed... now all i have to do in convince him to build me a green house
:)
This is fun to watch!
A time-lapse video would be cool.
now that's a bit much Victor
:)
But cool!
This will make a great article for Dave's! The pics show it step -by-step- a few captions from your Honey Bear, and it will be a terrific how-to. You should sign him up as a Dave's member in his own right; I like "Honey Bear"!!!
I want to see how he does the roof. Rooves (roofs?) unnerve me, with gravity and all.
I love this thread! Can you make it into a chicken coop? That's what I want!
I don't see why not Daisy.... and I really don't think he would go for the honey bear thing.... and he can't type AT ALL... won't be any daves for him unless it's over my shoulder
:)
he said he is going to put up the walls first to keep the frame square... and then put the roof on
Hmmm I am sure you could convince him to put up a greenhouse - and if he doesn't seem to cooperative I am sure you could find "ways" to convince him teehee (wink wink).
That's nasty!
Looking grand, Allison!
you guys are too much
Great job to this point. I like the underlayment on the soil. Being an old timer I would not have thought about that. Being up off the ground like that you should never see a ground hog digging under this shed. In fact no critters like that much open space. Good move on your part.
thank you... we were thinking of putting lattice around the base just to keep some of them out... not sure yet though
i can't wait to knock down the old shed and see what the ground hog damage is under there.... i am thinking it's pretty bad since there are two doors coming out from a 10 x 12 shed
Groundhogs given enough time will always have a two door access to their den. I have never seen one under a shed that is up in the air or other critters either. Lattice will do little or nothing and could even encourage a dig under action. Light through to all sides is your best deterent to critters. I consider lattice decorative but I would not block that easy access and egress. Some communities have building codes stating six inches or more an no lattice. Wood piles must be up six or more inches. The first time I ran into this was in Norfolk, Va. Their major issue was waterfront rats.
Maybe one is the "in" and the other is the "out".
wow glad I don't have that rat problem... there is going to be gravel under and on the outside edges.... once I go and pick more up... I figured that would help with the small diggers anyway
Allison, I love your "action" photos! Shed's looking good, too!
they were both out of hand all day.... but all in good fun
Looking terrific, Allison!
Hahaha they sure have a good sense of humour!!! That shed is looking FANTASTIC!!!! What colour were you thinking of painting it?
we are going to match the house... grey with white trim.... and a charcoal/grey roof.... the shingles with the shading... honey might add some shudders to match the house... those are maroon ... but not sure about that
all the trusses are done but 2.... he said they are going to be doubles.... he is doing those tomorrow.... and we are going to put all those up.... planting is going to take a backseat... we are out of helpers for the moment
:)
Looks great, Allison. You guys should be proud of your hard work.
yes I am proud of HIS work...... my mom and dad stopped by yesterday to pick up some veggie plants..... dad thought he was putting together a kit.... and was blown away that he was building it from scratch.... he also thought it was funny that the shed is bigger than our bedroom.... and told us we should sleep out there
:)
One cot would be suitable for a dog house night. :)
