new shed site ... Hopefully soon
:)
shed construction
Off to a good start!
thanks... hopefully this one won't rot out like the prior owners did... the spot they have it in has too much water collection and sitting on low blocks that sunk... amazing they picked a spot without tons of boulders in it... but the thing is rotted to about 3 foot up off the ground... wood was just absorbing all the water and rotting over the years... shame too the top looks great
Here's one that never rots! ☺

very fancy... and i am sure expensive
:)
Your Honey is too sweet!!!
Tell him that there are men out there who don't build things for their Significant Others, and refuse to pay someone else to do it. Then they go out and buy themselves a Mercedes (and take vacations), leaving their Significant Others to get buy in a 2001 truck, not that she minds. Then the same men in question have fits when she hires a guy to put up a $30 fence.
Tell him he is sweet and adorable!!!!
Uh oh - good thing you're speaking hypothetically, Melissa!^_^
LOL... or we hope so
Lucky you! I wish I had the space for a shed in my small yard...not to mention a husband that would build one for me! Of the two of us, I'm the builder and the do-it-yourselfer in the relationship.
he is the builder... and great at demo.... i just stand out of his way when he is doing that... might get hurt... i play a good foreman .... and helper at the same time.... we both know how much money this will save us doing it ourselves... it's worth it
That's more than I would attempt. I'm a DIYer with certain things. A shed would not be one I would attempt.
Then he should do what he enjoys - building! The risk of injury and lack of experience would lead me to a prefab, not to mention watching my neighbors unsuccessfully attempt one... you should have heard the fights! ☺
to tell you the truth when we first bought the house he offered to build a bigger closet in our computer room so the summer / winter transition would be easier... the one that was there was only a bit wider than a door frame... now there are two bi-fold doors.... i had NO FAITH in him what so ever... i was thinking bi-fold doors if they aren't just right they won't work properly... get jammed... and in the long run fall apart... but i let him go and hoped for the best... he did a great job... I was so impressed with him... even put a light on the inside for me... after he was done we added those shelf maid things at home depot... what a great setup I have now... slide the winter stuff out and put the summer stuff in... no fighting with tote boxes... made life so much easier.... and if i feel lazy I can just leave everything where it is between our bedroom closet and this one we have more than enough space... I don't have all that many clothes or shoes... not the typical woman that's for sure... my honeys mom thinks i am crazy for only owning one or two purses ... one for every day and one for dress up.. she must own 30... she keeps buying me some for chirstmas and birthdays ... but then i throw the old one out.. she got mad at me... i just don't get it
You have a MAN that builds you bigger CLOSETS??? You are in heaven, girl!!! Now go out and buy more purses! Make sure they are "names". With all the $$ you've saved you should be able to afford one!
Do you rent Honey out??!!
P. S. As for purses (I think I have around 30; I collect Dooneys) you need a winter one and a summer one; one for outfits that are in the brown spectrum, and one for black outfits; a clutch for a formal gathering and a few big totes for shopping/traveling. I guess if you add all my totes, I probably have more like 50 bags, b/c I will take a purse and a tote if I'm out sightseeing for a day. I try to coordinate the tote w/ my outfit and don't worry so much about how "high-end" it is.
he enjoyed all your responses...... and said no thanks to the renting out..... he can't handle my requests never mind outsiders stuff too
:)
I used to do that with handbags also but then I got into shoes before I got pregnant I had over 100 pairs of shoes, my goal was to have a pair of heels and flats to match every color/outfit in case my feet started hurting during the day my outfit would still look the same when I changed. I should have made my hubby make me a shoe closet, how awesome would that have been???? I don't need it now after the kids my foot went to a wide and had to get rid of 99% of my shoes and buy some wider ones( not very easy to find)
When he's done with your shed we need one put up also, send him on down. hee hee
Don't even get me started about shoes!
I am the do-it-yourselfer in the house, too, but I've got myself in over my head once or twice, and the cost of wood has gone sky-high! It's really expensive to make mistakes!! I wood-n't attempt a shed. I did see one of those Rubbermaid sheds at HD last w/e. Pretty ugly! I imagine a good wind would turn it into an airplane, too.
Funny you should mention that! We own that shed, or maybe one of smaller ones, and the doors blow off every winter, and nobody goes out there when it's snowing and blowing to put them back on. Allison, you got a winner. Keep us posted, please (on the shed).
wow that's not good Carrie... I wouldn't go out there either
all sorts of critters would move in if we didn't have a door
The only critters that moved in mine are my 3 cats!
Sue, that's beautiful!!
I grew up with wisteria in my mother's backyard - I think it was all the wrong kind, because it never flowered, it just twined and strangled. Isn't wisteria like holly and so on, that you need both kinds to get the show? We had the kind that was just a nuisance, but your kind is lovely, picture-book pretty, makes me want to plant wisteria! Thanks for the treat!
Carrie, glad I could put a smile on your face! I just picked this up a couple of years ago at the Ann & Hope Garden Outlet in Millis, and it does fine on its own.
I pruned alot last fall because the "branches" were going back over the shed roof. Not quite as many flowers this year as last.
It is coming along!!!
I felt bad after he had to haul all that gravel one wheelbarrow at a time up our sloped back yard.... now we realized we need more than 2 yards worth.... there is only a few wheelbarrows left and no where close to where we want it to be
going to pick up more lumber tomorrow... and my guess more gravel sat morning
DH (as you probably know) had a literally broken back three years ago, and now he has chronic pain which is getting worse (not stabilizing or getting better). I think of him lugging wheelbarrows full of gravel - he would do it, too, but he would be limping afterward. is there any way you can (or would) hire some kids or a machine to do more of the grunt work? Now I worry about everybody's backs, although DH got hurt in a fall at work. But it's looking fabulous!!!!
Allison - glad to see your shed is taking shape! I think your Honey is a Honey!!
Sue - I love your shed with the wysteria arching over it! very cool!
thanks... I wish there were kids in the neighborhood big enough.... but there isn't... and we picked up a load of lumber today... my whole truck bed is full... covered with a tarp ... and hopefully the weather will hold out long enough for us tomorrow to get more done
Oh, dear, I hope so too, Allison, 'cause it's raining here now!
Good luck! Can't wait to see the finished product!
Progress! (I can tell by the beer, not the shed.)
OMG, onewish, you have TWO guys out there working for you???!!!
TEACH me! Tell me your secret!!!
(Why do I suspect it has something to do w/food?)
