Spring Blooms - Part 7

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Dyanes, Welcome to the Northeast Forum! I love the blossom on the Almond, I never knew it had such a beautiful bloom!!!

Allison, DH bought AZALEA Mandarin Lights last May for my anniversary gift. It was in bloom at the time and it was a lovely orange. I'm waiting for it to bloom so I can "ooh" and "ahh" again! LOL

redchic, I wish I had chickens like your neighbors do. my husband says it's either him or chickens, I get to decide. some days i think he's on the golf course so often he wouldn't even notice...

Great shots, Jen. Love the columbine. Very nice rhodie and JM, rc! Nice BH, Eleanor. Haven't seen you post in a few days - welcome back! Gorgeous carnation, Celeste.

I love the chicken picture! It reminds me of when I was a kid, and the next door neighbor raised chickens and roosters. It was a noisy world back then!

Redchic, that columbine is 'Ruby Port'

I love to see the wide view. It gives a better overall composition and yours is an ace.
Great blending of shapes and colors.
Did you take art at one time?
Your a natueral.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thank you Jo Ann. No formal classes but I always did appreciate it and had an artistic streak. Proud to say it all comes from my mom - being close to Moms day!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

You may already have noticed this but ,most of art is logic.

Gotta love those genes.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

The photos are beautiful, as usual, Victor. I agree. You do have artistic genes.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thank you, Candyce. Just came in. Pretty hot here - about 78 but hot in the sun when you're working. And my six year old gets BORED very quickly!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Nice front shot Victor!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks. I should have lightened it a bit. Was taken at midday so lots of shadows.

Love all the pix, everyone! Sharran, I love, love, love dark iris, too. Victor, your long shot is a beaut. Is that your driveway, going off to the right like that? Very nice, it looks like it disappears.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Nice wide shot Victor, is there a house back there somewhere????

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Pixie that mandarin lights is beautiful ... had my eye on that one too

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very nice Sharon. I have one like that. Forgot the name. Yes, my house is there somewhere! Yes, Daisy, that's my driveway. I like being set back from the street.

Very nice Al, I like that daff!

Strangely enough, I didn't even know that the neighbor had chickens until I saw that as I was driving by! I had to stop and do a "double take." then get out, walk around, see the others, go back and take a picture! I'm glad I can't hear them....at least not yet.

Funny Jo Ann! The deal is that I have two jobs. You know, just to make life more complicated. One is a typicall 7-530 type 95% of the time. 5% it's a complete night shift---off at 7 am. The other job is late day or swing (swing ends at midnight). It's enough to give anyone a sleep disorder! Strangely enough, one of them is federal.

Thanks jen.... adding Ruby port to wish list!

Onewish, my guess would be that bluestone didn't know that there was a difference. I would imagine that there are now a few more people out there that think that northern hi-lights is pink!

anybody know what kind of sedum this is? Or if it's really even a sedum. It looks like a succulent and feels like one. However, I never planted it and is coming up in an area where I don't have anthing planted since I have just recently taken it back from the ivy. Pictures are a little blurry since it was getting dark out.

thanks, redchic

You're right, it does. Thanks. Now I just wonder how in the world it got there! I have another thing coming up about 300' feet away, again an area never anything done to it, that looks sort of like a sedum--- but different than that one. I have never planted a sedum, and the closest neighbors (the ones with the chickens!) are about a 1/3 mi. away. things that make you go hmmmm......

Beautiful Iris Sharran!

Victor, I would be lost in your yard! Do you just love the color of the zenobia in the fall? It's not bright or showy, but I like it because it's different than most of the other fall colors.

my schizandra. I'll post a picture of the whole vine when it opens fully. it's had a rough year since it ate a rather large rhododendron so I whacked it backbabout 6 weeks ago to go the rhody a fighting chance.

I think this lilly needs to be renamed "jack and the bean stalk" Just for referrance, the rhody behind it is a little over 5' wide. Last year this lilly ended up being about 6.5' tall and it's already on track for being larger this year. The stalk is sooo sturdy that it doesn't need to be staked and I used a hand saw to cut it back for the winter last year (to wide for the loppers).
