nice collages pixie!

My pansy's died in the last snow Kassia, can I have some of yours:-p just kidding... sort of!

Venu... multi blue is one of my favorite clematis.

Victor... I'm not sure if this picture of the sedum will really help any. I took it today when it was much lighter out, still quite dark in that area though. That's why I'm not sure that I'll be able to figure out what it is when it flowers, I highly doubt that it will flower in That Much shade!

there was a forest fire in this area some years ago. It was too hot for the trunks, but not for the roots and many of the Cornus nuttallii are coming back faster than the other trees.

it's a cute tulip Eleanor. It looks like it should be called peppermint twist or candy cane, something like that.

My clematis are at least a month away from blooming:-(

An azelea doing its thing

I love the relaxed habit of your azalea. I looks like a fountain of blooms.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

might get a few new ones out of that azelea.... my grandmother used to just put a rock on top of branches like that

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great, Celeste! Which JM is it? Shelly, it's still difficult. I have one that looks like that - I'll see if I can find its name. Nice shots - love the trillium. Nice tulip, Eleanor! Wow, you beat ne with the clematis, Weeze - nice! Vib looks great.

Daff...not sure if this is 'Poeticus' or 'Actaea'...if I even spelled that right. These smell wonderful when it's warm out and not all rainy!

Not quite there yet, but this is ( I believe it's considered a GI) GI 'Batik'...my first year with this one...so excited. I hope they are as pretty in person as the pictures are.

This is from my 75% off purchase from either Lowe's or HD last year. It was a mix simply called 'Mixed Muscari.' Didn't realize that the white and off white come up much later than the other blue bi-tone ones.

This was a rescue Heuchera...not sure of the type, but it keeps changing colors and getting more and more pretty as the days go on.

Nice shots, Thom! The heuchera could be Caramel or Peach Flambe. There are others in that range too.

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

Victor-(and all other JM lovers) this is 'Peaches and Cream'--So far, it has kept that edge to the leaves for about 3 weeks, maybe a wee bit more...not sure if and when it will fade!

very nice shots

A word to the wise...lol...I bought a 'specialty' fern last year...think it was about $19 or so. Can't remember what type of Jap Painted fern it is. BUT...lol...I thought it was a goner...the fiddleheads looked like brown rotting twigs...I was ready to yank it out of the ground, and today, this is what I see...lol...

This is the bed that I reworked last year...and consider it 'DONE'...as in, I couldn't fit something else there if someone had a compost fork to my head...

How much sun does Peaches get, Thom. Chances are it will fade. Yes, Japanese ferns are late in waking up. I love them.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice bed! Is that weeping beech(?) in the background yours?

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

This is the bed...lol...that I wish someone had a compost fork to my head...lol. I look at this bed every day, and I'm thinking, "WHAT WAS I THINKING?" For whatever reason this part of my front yard, the back half gets almost all shade, with some very late afternoon/early evening sun, and the front half gets sun, almost all day...it's so weird to grow roses, hostas, daylilies, ferns, and rhodies all in the same space...lol...but it happens.

Victor-It's mine and, I'm not sure of the order, but it's a 'Young's Weeping Birch' something like that, I know Young is in the name. That was purchased 7 years ago, my first tree for this bed, and was about 1" in diameter! Now it's a beauty!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Wonderful pics everybody. More rain here today but things are really popping up here now.
Thom my J.fern is at the brown twig stage now and it is good to tell people about plants that are late to emerge or look like they are not coming back so during the first season they know what to look for and to give late arrivals a chance. That is what is so great about places like DG and all the people that contribute. :)

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

it happens at my place a lot too.... my beds are so mixed up.... what lives stays

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Looks like my painted fern from Hallsons.
LOVE IT.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I like that adage about gardens ... 'what lives, stays!'
We should adopt that as out mantra.
Thanks for writing that one, Allison.

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

May I add an addendum...? lol

What lives stays....but can be moved.

lol...that's more often than not what I do. People flinch when I tell them I have moved a JM, or a rhodie...they thrive...I smile.
