Mary Frances bloomed today
What's Blooming Outside Your Door, Part 2
We get some nasty winds, too - we live very near the water and it "tunnels" up through our yard. It wasn't so bad until four years ago when the 20 acres in back of us was pretty much clear cut.
Carla, those iris are simply divine - and it always surprises me when I remember the lovely fragrance they have.
Murmur do you have any of those old fashion NOID iris? I am going to be dividing them again if you would like me to throw some aside for you...They would be great to put back there on your property line...I could even drop them in the dirt for you. If the weather ever warms up enough I am sure I could talk DH into riding the bike your way...
wow bea! I love the photos of your iris! I just ordered another 60 iris....and blamed it on you and your photos! LOL!
where do you order your iris from ?
Murmur..gorgeous garden! I would love to sit on your glider and just relax! Wonderful...
Cocoajuno..I love that cruise control. Yummy. I borrowed your picture for my "wanted" file..hope you don't mind.
I posted several macro shots today of Iris close ups on the photos forum macro 2 and macro 3. For those who love Iris's as much as me..take a peek. They are facinating close up.
The rain sure made a lot of the iris very soggy. The BI buds are like sponges. The buds are pretty much ruined and had to be removed today. I had a lot of dutch Iris fall over with the wind & rain yesterday. Have a big bouquet indoors now.. The season for Iris is much to short!
Bea, it seems like every year we get to get a few nice pictures of the Iris and then comes the rain to ruin them...but at least we can enjoy them for a day or two. Daylilies, Dahlias, and Iris are the backbone of my gardens. The other flowers are just jewelery for those three...lol
Persian Cornflower
anjl. I order from Cooleys garden here in Silverton and Schreiner's
in Salem. I have been ordering from them even before I moved to Oregon. Both are great companies with fantastic selection.
Both also put out beautiful catalogs that are hard to put down..

Bea.... did you notice in the post above...I have a green watering can to match my green chair, I got it at "Big Lots" a couple of months ago when I went to visit Tilly at work...Great minds think alike!
thank you bea... off to do more shopping! lol, at least I can bring the iris with me when I move! :o)
cocoajuno..yes great minds..Now all I need is your pink lupines. They are fantastic. I have some I planted..but no flowers yet or even signs of flowers. I bought mixed seed and a few little starts from the nursery. I hope I will get some blooms this year. If not I will just look at your picture. They are great!
Persian coneflower is great. Have not seen that one before.
This salvia which is next to my pink chair would look real nice pared up with some pink lupines.. Got the wheels churning again..
On the other side of my pink chair I have my "Falling in Love" rose .
Behind the chair I have two climbing roses on 1 trellis. Eden and a deep red Noid. Colorful..but that's the way I like to mix things up. :)
Please make the time to take them. I could kick myself for not taking the ones I had in CA. Starting the collection again..just takes time & money..but good things are worth waiting for as the saying goes.
Incredible pictures you guys. Guess I'm the only one who didn't know that some iris were fragrant.
Really?! I had no idea. Clearly I need some of these fancy iris. I have some that I "stole" from a house I rented. I had spent the summer cleaning up the debris in the back yard from several years of previous tenants and found the survivors underneath. They were pretty tiny and have not bloomed for me yet.
Love "fresh" and love the smell of lemon.
I will be dividing soon and will save some of the white and the purple/lavender for you if you like....I just ask that you d mail me so I remember...lol
Carla - that's so nice. Sure, I'd love some if you have extra. Thank you!!
Alas - no iris money. I can only wish and hope and keep working on my beds . . . maybe next time. But thanks, Pixy, my dear enabling friend.
Hi Tills,
Hey you I have a lot of the white soldier Iris...lol... that is what I call them because they are so straight and you have a lot of purple....lets make a trade...deal?
Deal, If I had knowen they where going to be the same color I would have done something a little Diff. LOL
Wondering what the other 2 will do. be green funny. I will mark them, when is the best time to do that? new to this Iris thing ^_^
Are we still on for the 16th? Boss might let me have a 3 day weekend LOL
Bea, I have some rebloomers that came from Cooleys. I need to divide them but am not sure when is the best time. And since I've never done this before, any suggestions? They've been blooming beautifully, but the rain is taking it's toll. Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Tills,
Sorry the phone rang...yes we are on for the 16th! I emailed you today the directions and all...Wow what will you do if you have a 3 day weekend...
Iris can be moved just about anytime after blooming...they are fairly easy to dig and divide too...
Sally, here are links to a few articles about dividing Iris. Cooleys dig's theirs at the end of June and begins shipping early July. So I think you are safe after that date. You may wish to wait however until late August to enjoy the reblooms. (Before first frost)

Mary, that blue iris is stunning. Sometime when they have expanded, save one for me, pretty please?
I just planted two irises, pulled from my grandmother's beds in Arkansas, with permission of course!
She had not lived there for, gosh, at least twenty years, but the current owner said she divides and moves
and throws a way, and they are still going strong. Will probably be a simple yellow or purple. Good old fashioned ones.
I love that last one and they all are great. Welcome to PNW. We have a good time here.
Sally..you have a beautiful array of Iris's. Your new camera takes very nice photo's. If you have a macro setting on your camera , take
a look at Iris's from a close up perspective..they are facinating close up. There is a photo forum just for macro shots. Beautiful stuff always posted.
Welcome to DG..you will have such a good time and learn so much!!
