adel, I meant to ask you how you have the orange halves attached to the linb.
Thanks for starting the new thread Indiana Lily with your beautiful pics!
Sheila...congrats on the Warbler...that is awesome!
Great pics everyone...this is certainly a colorful thread!
I spotted this fella while walking the dogs in the north pasture this morning.
Male Blue Grosbeak...a first for me!!
Weather is not very good today so got time to post some pics of my trip yesterday with the local birding group:
Purple finch singing, Note there is a discussion now going on the local birding group website where I frequent if a female sings or if it is a male not yet molted into the full adult male plumage. Anyone here an idea?
Great pics PC!! Thanks so much for posting them!
I love the Belted Kingfisher and the Black-crowned Night-Heron!
Thanks Pelle, you asked last time what camera I've used so I took a pic of my set-up http://picasaweb.google.com/panamon0creel/Misc02?authkey=nddySvcQg9A

I'd say a first-year male. Sibley states "Adult female, 1st year male identical".

Nice one!
JBO was upset this morning. When she came in for some peach preserves, the bear had eaten it up and broke her feeder. I repaired the damage and replenished the preserves so all is well again. (pics of the bear posted at)

Wonderful pictures everyone.
I finally got a picture of the bird that has nested in the abandoned woodpecker hole in the back of my house.
I spent numerous hours hiding in a bush to get a picture of this -- I believe it's a Grackle that has brought some food. Just what I need, more Grackles! (Correctly identified later in thread by Pelle and Resin as European Starling).

Hi GG, Its a European Starling. You can tell by the lighter beak and spots on the plumage.
LOL, Not that you need those either!
the one on the hummer feeder is either another female Bullock's Oriole, or a young male
Tough one . . . a young male ought to have a full black throat by now, whereas a female shouldn't have any - and this has just a little black! It could perhaps be a very old female, as in some birds, old females can develop some limited male plumage characters. But that's guesswork for this bird.

Yep, Starling!
Resin
Thanks Pelle and Resin.
No, I don't need those and as soon as the babies are gone, that hole will be no more. We were going to fill it this year, and then discovered someone was using it!
